Ayio how can a 53 year old professional do such a stupid thing? I am referring to this article about a SQ pilot.
We do not know the reason or reasons for his dumb pranks. Perhaps too much flying or maybe too little so the devil started to work on his idle workshop mind. But whatever the reason or reasons,it is wrong and childish to resort to such pranks. Didn't the pilot knows that these fast food outlets record each and every phone orders?
I remember a case some time ago when a steward kept harassing a stewardess over the phone. He did not know that there was such a thing as a "caller display" whereby the phone would record the numbers of most incoming calls. The stewardess reported the case to the police and the culprit was apprehended.
Long periods of flying like the crew does can make one a little cranky. Look at ex stewardess Beh, who after flying for ten years is now having some sorts of mental problem. She told in her blog she has panic or anxiety disorder. She was also a lesbian and she occasionally has "ideas of grandeur or fantasy". Having "ideas of grandeur" to me sounds like a GPI ( general paralysis of the insane)patient. Poor girl,I hope she is better now.
Frequent flying into different time zone can also take a toll on a person's mental and physical health. Take for example, a few inflight supervisors have died of heart problems, cancer etc at an early age...David at 52 years old,Kenneth at 53,Mahendran at 62 (the most recent),not counting the younger colleagues who had also died of various illnesses.
Please note that I am in no way trying to discourage people from becoming a crew. There are many crew who are still healthy and fit. I believe one can circumvent the ill effects of flying by execising, having sufficient rest between flights and eating healthily.
Coming back to the pilot's case,we have yet to establish the reason or reasons for him committing such silly acts. We would have to wait for the case to be presented in the court of law and hear what his attorney has to say.
