Mei, ex-British Airways(BA) stewardess from Hong Kong

Above: View of Hong Kong from Victoria Peak

(In 1997, Hong Kong became home to the world's most expensive residential property when high-flying property developer Wong Kwan paid nearly US$115 million for a six-bedroom home in Hong Kong's most prestigious neighbourhood, Victoria Peak. Click here for info)

All I said was "lady you got an awesome looking handbag" and she thanked me for the compliment and in jest asked me,"how about the owner?". My response was immediate," simply gorgeous and glamorous" and I introduced myself.

It was about 1 am in a cafe, situated on Hong Kong's Kowloon side that I 'bumped' into Mei. The year was 1975 and the crew stopped in Hong Kong for 2 days on a flight from Singapore. I was part of the crew and we stayed at the Holiday Inn,a fabulous hotel on Kowloon.

Mei knew from my English I was a foreigner and when I told her I was from SIA,she became excited. "Are you a pilot?",Mei asked. I told her I was a cabin crew member and she screamed in jubilation and with pride beaming in her eyes, she told me she was a British Airways stewardess.

Mei was excited to meet me another crew and had all along missed flying since she "married" John,a wealthy elderly Hong Konger. She wanted someone she could relate to with regard to her flying days and I was the right person.

Strangers when we met but it did not matter to Mei and we became good friends later on. She invited me over or rather on the pretext that she needed escort to go back to her place at the renowned Hong Kong's Victoria Peak.

John was away,as usual, on business and Mei,a sweet, lovely looking Chinese lady with fair skin was a lonely "tai tai". Mei did not have many friends and if she did, they were not airline crew.

Mei used to fly for BA for a few years and had thoroughly enjoyed flying. She was in her mid 30s when we met that night.I was 29 then.

It was in the wee hours of the morning when we arrived "home" at Mei's apartment. I couldn't believed my eyes when I saw the wonderful view of Hong Kong as we drove up the hills to Mei's place. The view from her apartment was even more picturesque.

The moment I entered Mei's apartment,I was awed by the gorgeous wallpapers ,the chandeliers, the Picasso's on the wall and in fact the whole atmosphere was just mesmerising.

Mei must have spent millions on the interior decor,I thought to myself. The whole apartment with its stunning view of the habour and the classy neighbourhood must have cost at least US$50 million at today's price.
There were 5 bedrooms plus the servant's room, the spacious living and dining rooms, the private guest room etc etc...Never in real life have I witnessed such a gorgeous apartment except in movies.

I was taken on a tour of the whole apartment and my "guide" was the proud Mei. Proud and yet unassuming and humble was how I assessed Mei.

As a young man and as any normal young man would,I had some dirty thoughts when I first met Mei,I must confessed. The thought of starting a romance with this sophisticated and fascinating lady was always on my mind the moment I met Mei at the cafe.
However, the manner in which Mei conducted herself throughout that night or early morning rather, made me think twice before making any stupid move.
I was glad I was not in a hurry to 'bed' Mei for many reasons.

Pinky Shirley.

We mourn the loss of Shirley Wong,a crew of 26 years with SIA ( today's Straits Times). Most of us will definitely miss her laughter and cheerfulness.
As requested by her, those who have attended her funeral wore pink which was her favorite color. She did not want her departure to be a sorrowful and sombre one.She wanted her departure to be a pinky affair so as to reflect gaiety and cheerfulness.
Farewell our brave fighter and may your soul rest in peace!

My Noble and Worthy ex colleague(got to be kidding cos he is a JackAss actually)!

My ex colleague(ex Cabin Crew Executive of SQ) Mr. SS Tan has his own blog....click here for those of you who knows him.

Btw if any other ex colleagues, ex crew or serving crew who has started blogging and need "traffic" or visitors to your websites or blogs, pls contact me and I will help you all just like I am helping SS Tan

Honesty of SIA cabin crew.

This is just one of the honest deeds of SIA cabin crew which involved the largest sum of money. It was not reported in the press,I believe. One of my visitors gave me this report:
Many years ago a paper bag containing more than a million SIN dollars in foreign currencies was left in the seat pocket of SQ flight arriving into SIN from TPE. After passengers had disembarked the crew did a routine check of the cabin and found the bag with the monies in the seat pocket of the Economy cabin. The crew-in-charge surrendered the found items to the company.

The honesty of people the world over.

According to the article "Misplaced gold Rolex? Fret not if you're in S'pore" published in Singapore Straits Times forum page on 19 December 2007, I agree with the writer. However, not only are people in Singapore honest, staff of Singapore Airlines are honest too.

There were many cases of passengers carelessly leaving cash, diamond rings, credit cards, wallets, brief cases etc. etc. in the aircrafts when they disembarked only to get them back in no time. Some of these passengers' lost items found by the ground cleaning staff, security personnel and cabin crew were specially flown by SIA and delivered to their doorsteps in their countries, free of charge.

I have a friend who took the trouble to trace the owners of two wallets stashed with cash, credit cards and even 4D slips he found and returned them. Another friend "U-turned" when he was miles away from the airport on his way home, to declare to the custom officers of something which he had forgotten to declare earlier.

There many cases of honest Singapore cabbies who returned to their passengers valuables they found left in their taxis.

During my 35 years of travelling overseas and staying in different countries, I have found Singaporeans and Japanese to be the most honest.

In Japanese hotels, many of our crew had the experiences of having their "left behind valuables" returned to them.

In places like Hong Kong,London, the USA,China,Africa,Indonesia,India,Europe etc one would be considered lucky if not pickpocketed or mucked, let alone get their "left behind valuables" returned to them by cabbies, hotel staff etc.

There was a story of an American lady being robbed in Europe as early as in 1922. Click here for full story.

19 December 2007(today) 10th Anniversary of MI 185 crash.

Today is the 10th Anniversary of MI 185 crash in Indonesia. Together with those who had lost their loved ones on the said flight,we remember that fateful day,10 years ago. A minute of silence will be apprecited if you are here as a visitor to my blog.

A few interesting things here that may be of interest to some people:
"Another interesting fact is the accident which happened on exactly the same date in 1979 the captain was forced to withdraw from a scheduled Air Force jet training mission because of a mechanical problem with his aircraft. The other three aircraft continued with the training mission and collided with terrain after encountering bad weather in a mountainous area. All of the pilots on board the aircraft were killed..." click here for more information.

Laws pertaining to Blogging

Do I have a right to blog anonymously?

Don't know. In the United States, the Supreme Court has repeatedly upheld the First Amendment right to speak anonymously. No similar concept exist under Singapore law. However, there is no law that requires a blogger to use his/her real name when blogging. Taking this a step further, there is also no law in Singapore that prohibits a blogger from using anonimity technologies or techniques when blogging.

Does this mean that no one will ever be able to find out my identity?

Not quite. If you try to blog anonymously through a third-party service, that service provider may be compelled by court order or police powers to disclose information that may lead to determining your identity

The first commenter must be a female who fantasised me to be "beli humsup " but got a rude shock when Bors,in their blog claimed I was SS Tan( SS post his pictures but I don't you see)

My advice is never never post your own picture and tell about your personal life like SS and Beh,the ex stewardess who blogged about her sexual experiences. You gain nothing and all those weirdos out there will pass all kinds of unkind remarks and ....................hehehe

From rags to riches and riches to ....(3)

Thea did not expect her dad to leave her an inheritance, let alone such a big one. She thought her dad had disowned her and willed everything to her relatives but she was wrong.
Anyhow, now that Thea was finacially independent, her attitude towards Tim changed for the worst. She would pick the slight reason to quarrel with Tim.
Somehow,Tim realised that all these whiles,Thea was not sincere in their relationship. When she depended on him finacially she pretended to be loving towards him.
Tim regretted for leaving his first wife and the children. He thought Thea loved him but now he was disappointed.
Thea eventually left Tim for a younger man and left Singapore for the U.S.A with her lover. They settled down in Las Vegas,Nevada.
As for Tim,he was a broken and lonely man.The last we heard of him was,he had cancer and was dying in a hospice.

From rags to riches and riches to ....(2)

Tim and Thea was a loving couple and the envy of their friends. Thea had proven to be a wonderful mistress and in less than three years, they got married. They tried hard but was childless.
One day,Thea had a call from someone in China informing the death of her father. Thea was summoned back to China by her late father's lawyers. Apparently,Thea's father had left her a will and she had to return to China to claim the will. In fact,Thea was the sole beneficiary of her father's estate.
All along,Thea had never told Tim she was from a fabulously rich family and her dad had dotted on her to the extend that she too pampered and ran away, leaving her dad to run his business on his own.
Now,Tim came to know the truth about Thea and he was so happy thanking his lucky star for having a rich, young, beautiful wife.
The next day after receiving the news, both Tim and Thea left for China. When they arrived, they were met at the airport and whisked away by their lawyers.
Believed you me, Thea was told she had inherited a fortune of about S$20 million.
Tim couldn't hold back his greed filled emotion and in front of Thea's lawyers, screaming and boasting how lucky he was to have Thea as his wife!
Finally when the whole thing about the inheritance was settled, both husband and wife flew back to Singapore.
So you now think that Tim was a happy rich old husband??....to be contd....

From rags to riches and riches to ....

Tim was an ex colleague of mine. As a matter of fact, Tim was my senior in age as well as in the airlines. He joined during the time of Malayan Airways and is easily in his 70s now.
Ask any senior cabin crew and they will tell you how miserly Tim was. He would packed the aircraft food leftovers and brought them home to feed himself and his family to save a few miserable dollars. He saved every single cents he earned as a crew. During his stops at oversea stations,he would cooked Maggi noddles in his hotel room and eat them with some of the aircraft food he stole.
All the umpteenth years we knew Tim,he had not once offered to buy us a cup of coffee or drinks. Often,he would scrounged on others, especially the junior crew.
By the time he was in his 30s,he owned a big house in the prime district of Singapore and an apartment. Both his properties were fully paid.
By age 50,Tim was worth around S$5 million in assets and cash. He also speculated and made money in the share market. Tim was branded as a rich poor cheapskate by his colleagues. If ever he wanted a f**** at outstations,he would use his position as a senior purser to arm twist some of the stewardesses and sometimes deceived the innocent and naive female passengers into sleeping with him.
What a rascal this Tim was!
When Tim retired, he was a relatively wealthy old man. His children are professionals drawing big bucks.
One night in a casino at Genting Highland,he met a awesome looking lady from China by the name of Thea. Tim had never seen such a beauty like Thea and immediately fell for her.
Flashing his diamond studded gold Rolex and thousands of dollars worth of gambling chips,he enticed Thea closer to him on the Baccarat table. When Thea's chips were down,Tim would pushed stacks of hundred dollars chips to her to continue gambling.
By early morning,Thea had lost a fortune and had owed Tim a clear 400,000 Ringgit ( about US$100,000)and had no choice but to sleep with Tim for the rest of her trip which was another 3 days.
Life for Tim had turned more exciting with Thea. She had also fallen in love with Tim. Over the next few months, Tim left his old wife and moved into his apartment with his China mistress,Thea.
The two of them seemed compatible even though there was a 30 year generation gap.
To be continued.......

Time to Investigate, CPIB??

According to the survey on the left hand side bar,58% alleged that the ex CCEs were corrupt and had accepted money from their subordinates in exchange for good appraisal reports, isn't it time for the CPIB (Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau)to investigate??
I, for one,am not afraid because I was clean during my tenure as a CCE with Singapore Airlines. I only gave good appraisal reports to the deserving crew. Many crew can testisfy to that.
However,if there were corrupt CCEs around during that time and there were sufficient proofs, then these ex colleagues of mine deserved to be named and investigated. In Singapore,no one is above the law.
I do not apologise for opening this can of worms but if there isn't any proof then you accusers out there should shut your gaps!

The Naked Lady In a Taipei Hotel.

Ladies and gentlemen, you are about to be transported by XXXX Airlines to Taipei to witness a scene whereby a senior steward by the name of Johari was accused of creating havoc and bringing disrepute to the airline.
The case happened some years back at a hotel in TPE (3 letter code for Taipei) where the cabin crew stayed during their night stops.
Johari was an LS (leading steward),married and had children. He was a amicable person, soft spoken and well mannered. Jo (Johari) was well liked by his crew and was not the hanky panky type of guy. He was also known as the cool guy who loved horse racing and smoking. He drank in moderation and was fun to have around.
Adrian was a galley steward (GS) who worked with Jo on this fateful trip. He was a rough looking guy in his early twenties, well built and loud. Back home Adrian used to drive fast cars and was a " gi seow" ( Hokkien for mischievous) type of man and drank a lot. He was a suspected drug taker.
One morning around 6am, the was a big commotion along the corridor, outside
a hotel room. A fair busty naked lady of about 25 years old was banging on the door of a room and screaming in Mandarin about being cheated.
Woken from his sleep by the loud banging of the door outside, Jo peeped through the spy glass on his door and saw a Chinese lady in distress.
Jo opened his door and tried to calm the lady down. He persuaded her to get into his room and gave her a large bath towel to cover her nakedness.
Slowly, the lady calmed down and in her limited English told Jo about what had happened.
She claimed she was some kind of "social escort" and her client was staying opposite Jo's room. Her client had refused to pay her for her services rendered and had thrown her out of his room that morning.
Desperate but wouldn't dare to report to the police, she can only persuade her client to be merciful to her....that was to pay her and let her have her clothing back. But he wouldn't and instead chucked her out of his room.
After a quick investigation,Jo found that her client was Adrian the steward. Jo,then called Adrian on the phone and spoke to him about the matter and summoned him to his room.
After a lenghty discussion among the three of them in Jo's room, the matter was finally settled with Adrian paying the lady for her services and returning her clothes to her.
On their return to Singapore a day later, Jo was shocked to receive a note from the cabin crew manager asking him to see the manager regarding a complaint from the hotel management in TPE.
After a month of investigation, Jo was charged with causing nuisance and bringing disrepute to the company while staying in a hotel in TPE.
At the disciplinary inquiry, the union representatives who defended Jo brought Adrian in as a star witness.
The charge was on Jo and not Adrian and it was made very clear to the disciplinary board by the union rep.that Adrian was only a witness.
To the surprise of the disciplinary board, Adrian confessed he was the guilty party and not Jo. Adrian revealed the truth of the matter and within an hour,Jo was acquitted of being the wrong doer.
The Union rep. insisted the company apologised for wrongly accused Jo and causing so much stress to him and his family.
A few days later, the media got wind of the matter and New Nation (now defunct) published an article "XXX Say Sorry".
It caused a lot of embarrassments to the airline and the chairman, we understand, hauled up the disciplinary committee and gave them a dressing down.
A few years later, Adrian was sacked from his job not because of the incidence but for "other" matters.
As for Jo, he had his promotion held back for a long time for no apparent reasons and had since left the airline
