I am thinking of the days when crew used to stay in Marunouchi Hotel when we had our one nightstop in Tokyo. The crew were usually allocated rooms that had their windows facing other guests' room 20 feet across the airwell. There were some occasions when the guests in the opposite rooms were making love and could be seen clearly if the room lights were on and the window curtains not drawn closed.
There was this occasion when one of our colleagues GS was invited to one of the crew's room to 'voyeur' the love making. While the few boys were content to view the show from inside the room, GS decided to watch the show at a closer proximity.
He decided to climb out of the window and squat on the one and half foot ledge (which lined continually outside the rooms) to enjoy an unobstructed first class view of the show.
After the show was over, GS decided to return to room through the window again. But the playful boys in the room then intentionally closed and latched the window so that he was unable to come in. In desperation GS had to walk on the ledge, passing the rooms to finally reach a fire escape stairway. He had to descend the stairway barefooted, topless and clad only in shorts or towel, to the side of the hotel. He then had to enter the hotel and walk through the lobby. The hotel staff were both amused and amazed to watch the half naked guest enter the hotel; he had just checked in only about half and hour ago.
Marunouchi Hotel was a small hotel and the staff would notice guests' movements in and out of the hotel. And on this occasion they must have wondered how that guest could come from outside the hotel without first leaving. The boys in the room waited for GS to return. And when they let him into the room, they all had a good laugh. GS, being good natured did not take it to heart for what the boys did to him and the embarrassment he had just experienced.
Contributed by Ex-CCE Edmond Tay.
BT's note: The above story did occur sometime in the late 1960s except that Edmond did not mention GS caught a cold after that incidence. BTW Thank you Ed.

Newbie stewardesses dump boyfriends.
There is a general assumption that when a girl joins the airline, she would in all probability dump her boyfriend after 6 months to 1 year of flying.
I agree to the above assumption and I would say 8 out of 10 of these newbies would dump their "old boy friends" and get newer ones.
Ask me why? It is a phenomenon and you "old boy friends" out there be prepared for it. Your sweet angels would not be sweet to you anymore once they start flying. The saying that "There are better fishes in the ocean" is always so true.
As for the stewards, the chances of them leaving their "old girl friends" are lower. It would be 6 out of 10. Reasons? Well the stewards are more careful of the other "..fishes in the ocean" because those fishes could be sharks too.
Like it or not, this is the reality of flying.
In my years as a ward leader to hundreds of crew, I have counselled and spoken to countless cabin crew on this issue. A number of bitter ex "old boy friends" and ex "old girl friends" who couldn't take the humiliation had sought revenge by disclosing to the office of their past misdeeds in the hope of getting them a sack.
One classic case was of an ex husband who wrote to the office and informed them that his ex wife lied when applying to be a stewardess . She did not reveal to the airline she was married at interview ( some years back the airline would not recruit girls who were married ). The ex husband asked the airline to sack her.
Another was the case of a girl who was a kleptomaniac. The ex boy friend informed the airline she had the obsession to steal and shoplift.
There was a girl who wrote in to warn the airline who had recruited her ex boy friend that he was schizophrenic.
There were many of these cases but like I've said before, flying creates a conducive environment for the crew to "swim" and get "netted" in other people's nets.

Plane misses destination as both pilots fall asleep
New Delhi, India: An AIR India flight headed for Mumbai overshot its destination and was halfway to Goa before its dozing pilots were woken out of a deep slumber by air traffic control, a report said.
The high altitude nap took place about two weeks ago, the Times of India newspaper reported yesterday.
Some 100 passengers were on board the state-run flight that originated from Dubai and flew to the western Indian city of Jaipur before heading south to Mumbai when both pilots fell asleep, a source told the paper.
"After operating an overnight flight, fatigue levels peak - and so the pilots dozed off after taking off from Jaipur," the source, who was not identified, said.
The plane flew to Mumbai on autopilot, but when air traffic there tried to help the aircraft land, the plane ignored their instructions and carried on at full speed towards Goa.
"It was only after the aircraft reached Mumbai airspace that air traffic control realised it was not responding to any instructions and was carrying on its own course," the source said.
"The aircraft should have begun its descent about 100 miles (160km) from Mumbai, but here it was still at cruising altitude. We checked for hijack."
Finally, air traffic control buzzed the cockpit and woke up the pilots, who turned the plane around, the report said When contacted by the newspaper, Air India said it was gathering information on the incident.
The manager of Mumbai's airport insisted the aircraft had suffered a "communications failure" and that no napping had taken place.
But sources told the daily that the authorities were trying to hush up the matter.
Indian papers reported this week that a flight operated by private airline Jetlite to the central Indian city of Patna was grounded after the pilot was found to be drunk.

Asleep In The Cockpit?
FAA Investigates Whether Two Pilots Fell Asleep On Short Hawaii Flight, Missing Destination
(CBS) Passengers on Go! Airlines flight 1002 took off on time last Wednesday morning expecting a short flight.
But they got more than they paid for, reports CBS News correspondent Ben Tracy.
"When I noticed we weren't descending I told my wife - she was sitting to my left - I mentioned to her, 'I think something's kind of weird in this flight pattern,'" said passenger Derrick Lining.
Weird, because the pilots on the flight from Honolulu, which normally takes 30 minutes to reach Hilo, overshot their landing by 15 miles before finally turning around. Air traffic controllers had tried to reach them for 25 minutes, but heard nothing back...full story http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/02/20/eveningnews/main3854375.shtml

Luke starting a school ?
Heard from the "grapevine" my friend Luke is starting a cabin crew training school. This news would definitely anger his competitors further. They tried with all they could to get Luke into trouble with SIA but to no avail. They reported to Stomp (Straits Times forum) with his photo and made false accusations against him. However, Luke just plodded on and made a name for himself helping the cabin crew hopefuls get into SIA.
If the above is true, I hope Luke will approach me to help contribute to the success of his school.

The aircraft was still on the ground and Eric Chia told this ang moh if he was not happy, he ,Eric would buy over his seat. This incident happened in the full view of the other first class passengers and staff. Suddenly, that ass, meekly went to his seat and sat down. I supposed, he knew who Eric was."

FRA-SIN-SYD, return PER-SIN-FRA. Initial flight delayed by almost 4 hours as airport was closed due to weather and the incoming flight had to be rerouted. Ground staff handled things professionally, we were offered a free dinner at airport restaurants (which I would rate unusual for an economy ticket). Flight on a new 777 with great in-flight entertainment and superb food and beverages. The A380 upper-deck flight to Sydney was uneventful and as to be expected from a brand-new aircraft very comfortable. The cabin crew was very helpful on all flights and kept a constant supply of water/juice/wine flowing. The return flight was also fine, except with an older 747 out of Singapore which was ok, but not as nice as the 777 and A380. But as soon as they get overhauled and fitted with the new generation entertainment system, they will be hard to beat.

I am based in Singapore and a Solitaire PPS-club member for the last 13 years. Frequent flyers and occasional flyers have surely a somewhat different view of a particular airline. Contrary to popular sentiment, I do not believe that SIA is that outstanding. Inflight service is better than most western carriers, but most Asian airlines and crews are friendlier anyway. What I appreciate most is the fast groundservice at Changi airport. SIA had always good country offices, which could be actually reached and indeed helped to change bookings, tickets, etc. Another case in point is the PPS club membership. What does one get out of it - Upgrades? Certainly not, SIA prides itself on not upgrading, maintaining the 'exclusivity'. Priority on waitlists? Increasingly a thing of the past. With a decreasing capacity supply, flights are over-waitlisted. Miles on Economy likewise do not count towards PPS. Benefit of the 1st class lounge: does not compensate for the actual flights. All that for comparably higher prices - and there is no more lifetime Solitaire membership, no matter how often one flies, or how long one is a customer of SIA.

MEL-SIN-LHR return. Initial leg ex-Mel on a tired 747 in a seat that slowly reclined by itself. Must've been annoying for person behind me as seat pitch very tight as is. Second leg upstairs on A380 and vastly superior. More spacious and, as you'd expect on a brand new plane, latest seats with large PTV screens. Return journey downstairs and disappointingly the seat pitch felt tighter. Better legroom to Mel on a 777. Shame they couldn't squeeze a couple more centimetres of space in economy on the biggest plane in the sky. Service, food, and particularly the KrisWorld entertainment system excellent on all flights. Once they replace their old 747s they'll be hard to beat.

My ex colleague macham professor

My ex colleague Edmond Tay who left SQ after me is now macham(aka) professor. When he was with SQ his beard was frowned upon by his yaya bosses. They didn't like him wearing his beard simply because they could'nt grow one..haha.
Edmond was so fed up with his superiors' attitude (can be petty sometimes)plus blah blah that he asked for early retirement. His bosses can't wait a moment longer and swiftly gave him a small ang pow and booted him.
Looking back, Edmond does not regret leaving the airline. In fact he better himself by getting a MSocSc in Professional Counselling (Swinburne University) and also Reality Therapy Certification (William Glasser Institute).
Today,Ed is a professional counsellor and he is all out to help people like his previous bosses who may be having emotional or marital problems. Some may be having work problem and I am sure Ed could help them too. Please do not ask for too steep a discount even though you guys may be his ex bosses because Edmond also need to survive. However, I will leave the charges to Edmond himself as I am only his advertising manager ( friend friend FOC lah). Besides stewardess Gloria this one is pissed off with her airline stewardess job too. Now she mentioned her employer as XXX and Gloria calls hers Nameless Airline.
Hey SG Gal, regarding the medical thing, the senior stewardesses are to blamed. XXX was a tolerant and generous company until those gals took advantage and abused the privileges.
Do you know most crew stayed in first class wards when they were sick? XXX put crew in 5 star hotels during their night stops. Not now huh,but why?
Crew took MCs whenever they didn't want to fly. Some even took Mcs for half a year every year and XXX still paid them fat bonuses and salaries. They were unproductive but the union helped them by screwing people like us who tried hard to discipline those skiving crew. CC management had to please the union so as to maintain a "harmonious" relationship.
You said 5 star hotels? Yes that's true but you know what? The crew cooked and dirtied the rooms before they checked out. They partied, gambled, smoked, drank until they are pissed and seldom cleaned their rooms. This type of anti social behaviour is prevalent amongst kiasu S'poreans. The attitude of "not my room,I don't give a f***". TVs,heater/aircon etc were not switched off when they left the rooms to go sight-seeing which sometimes took a day or 2.
Shame on you XXX crew and I support XXX for treating you guys like what SG Gal are complaining about XXX lacking in welfare etc.

SIA to raise fuel surcharge by up to US$30 from June 24
Posted: 18 June 2008 2016 hrs
SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines is raising its fuel surcharge by up to US$30 in some sectors. The new surcharges will affect tickets issued on SIA and SilkAir flights from June 24.
It is the third time this year that SIA is raising its fuel surcharge to cope with rising jet fuel prices.
The biggest increase will be for flights between Singapore and gateway cities in the US and Canada, where the surcharge will be US$180, up from US$150.
On regional routes, between Singapore and ASEAN countries, the new surcharge will be US$40, up from US$35. And on all other flights, the surcharge will rise to US$110 from US$95.
SIA said it will continue to monitor the price of jet fuel and review its fuel surcharge accordingly.

Ex-SIA flight supervisor Ong Hong Aik stole champagne and caviar is no big deal
Stealing duty free items and foodstuff is no biggie as far as other airlines crew are concerned.
Most airlines crew do offload items like champagne, liqour, aircraft and passenger amenities one time or the other. There are lots of these items for passengers consumption or uses. The crew merely write off these items when they are not taken or consummed by the passengers and packed them for their personal uses, consumption or disposed them off to small retail shops or pubs/bars for a profit.
Many airlines crew and in particular a few that we know steals almost anything except the aircraft. Ask any of the crew and they can testify that I am not bullshitting you guys.
Most custom officers are quite lenient with the crew. Why rock the boat hor afterall the crew are always polite and nice to these officers? The crew were taught during training never to antagonise the custom people. The crew would have more to lose if they upset the custom officers.
To the custom officers the offloading of aircraft items are "sub sub sui" or in English we say "peanuts". The crew in general are not professional smugglers out to make big bucks or ruin people's lives with drugs.
The crew, now with higher inflation are trying to make ends meet. I am not talking just about SQ crew but the other airlines in Asia and to some extent the European and American airlines too.
In that SIA supervisor's case, something must have gone wrong. IFS Ong Hong Aik is a nice guy and I don't think he had upset the London Heathrow custom officers to the extent of being checked. In my 3 decades of flying into LHR,I have never been checked or searched by the custom(I looked innocent and honest mah). So really what has gone wrong in Ong's case? Or is it the LHR custom are pretty strict these days?
Bangladesh Biman Airline allows it cabin crew and pilots to import household goods up to a value of US$100 and US$300 respectively, free from tax when they come back from an overseas trip. (US $100 is probably half the monthly basic salary of its cabin crew) The crew can do whatever they want with those goods they bring in. If they sell in the black market eg a TV set or a DVD set which they bought for a few $$$ from a "karanguni" or a rag and bone man they would pocket lots of $$$ ( which relatively is hell'uva of $$$ in Bangladesh). Therefore it's a great incentive to be a crew.
In London, the crew are only allowed a small amount of liquor and cigarettes for own consumption. In Singapore the amount of duty free items allowed for crew is really peanuts.

SS Tan offering ..............
This is absurd! My ex-colleague Luke SS Tan is offering the convicted SIA inflight supervisor a job. I wonder the "job" is assistant "cabin crew wannabe talk" presenter? Also heard that supervisor is genius at computer stuff. Sure can help Luke to set up power point graphics and what have you hahaha.
Ex-SIA flight supervisor Ong Hong Aik stole champagne and caviar
June 16, 2008
By Elena Chong, Courts Correspondent
AN INFLIGHT supervisor was fined $2,000 on Monday for stealing liquor and other items from a London-bound Singapore Airlines flight.
Ong Hong Aik, 50, admitted to stealing two bottles of Dom Perignon champagne, a bottle of Hennesy XO liquor, a bottle of red wine, caviar and other miscellaneous items worth a total of $1,116 on board the SQ308 flight on Feb 25.
He was found out by the London Customs officers who had checked on arriving cabin crew that evening.
He told them that the liquor was meant for a friend while the others were for his own consumption.
The London Police issued him a cautionary letter and released him. It informed the Singapore Airlines management about the case.
Ong, who then returned to Singapore the same day, was convicted under the Tokyo Convention.
Ong, whose contract has since been terminated, could have been jailed for up to three years and/or fined.
Boh Tong's comment on above post:
As far as I know for the 35 years I had been with SIA, London was one of the few stations whereby the custom personnel would check on the crew when entering the country.
The usual procedure was the crew would've to declare the duty free items ( cigarettes, liquor etc ) they were bringing into London plus medications etc and stated the number of days they were staying. This was all done on a custom form provided to the crew-in-charge (Inflight supervisor)who would asked the crew to filled them up individually during the flight into London.
After the flight had landed and passengers left the aircraft, a coach would ferry the crew to the custom office. The Captain and the IFS would be the only crew who would proceed to the custom with the custom declaration forms. The rest of the crew would wait in the coach.
1 out of a hundred times (1%) would the whole set of crew be asked to enter the custom office for a surprise check. The rarity of these checks gave rise to the temptation of bringing undeclared items as well as stolen items like the ones reported above into London.
A bottle of Dom champagne would easily cost S$300 in London. The caviar may have cost at least $100 for a 100 gm bot.
IFS Ong was just unfortunate as the chances of being checked and caught was very very slim. He knew damn well he would be sacked from his job and prosectuted if he was caught but he took the calculated risk.

India court grounds 'fat' flight attendants
Posted Thu Jun 5, 2008 9:39pm AEST
An Indian court has upheld the right of state-owned Air India to ground overweight flight attendants, a report said.
Lawyers for the airline told the court the attendants were moved from flight duty to ground duty when they failed to meet minimum physical fitness standards, the Hindu newspaper reported.
The Delhi High Court said the attendants' contracts stipulated their jobs could be terminated if they put on too much weight, according to the paper.
The bench, made up of Justice AK Sikri and Justice JR Midha, said the state-run airline needed fit flight attendants to compete with private rivals in India's fiercely competitive aviation market.
"The entry of private airlines in the business has resulted in severe competition," the judges said in their ruling.
The airline "has to meet this challenge by ensuring that its air hostesses and cabin crew members remained physically fit."
"There has been much debate about skinny bodies vis-a-vis healthy bodies, but there is no scope for any debate on overweight people," the judges added.
"It is universally accepted that overweight people have tendency to suffer from diseases," the judges said.

Out of this world
Captain Lee had an extra marital affair with a stewardess who had been only flying for a few months. He was short and fat and if not for his position, that newbie stewardess wouldn't have fallen for him.
The stewardess who was involved with Capt Lee was "out of this world" as most of the cabin crew would cheekily called her. Not that she was sexy or gorgeous but her name was Mercury, named after a planet in our solar system.
Mercury was quite arrogant after she was a confirmed crew. What more with capt's backing, she would sometime thought she was Mrs. Captain and would give order to more senior cabin crew. At times, she thought she was assistant captain on the flight with her ugly boyfriend.
Most of her team mates hated her for arrogance. You know the ah lian who made good with a captain lover boy.
Her lover boy gave the cabin crew lots of problem. Capt. Lee was an upstart commander and given the slightest excuse would report the crew to the company. Often times he would allow her in the cockpit for a long period during the long night flight. In such instances, the co-pilot would leave the cockpit and let them have some "privacy".
One day, Mrs Lee found out their affairs and made a big fuss. Mercury was threatened with all sorts of things and finally broke off with her lover boy. We understand Mercury was compensated a few hundred thousand dollars for leaving her lover boy.

My new domain
Finally I bought myself a new domain. My new URL is now http://www.bohtong.org but you may still get in here by using blogger URL http://bohtong.blogspot.com
I wanted to register the .com domain but someone has already bought it. I don't why that someone wanted bohtong.com for. Perhaps the name "bohtong" is quite popular and people want to capitalise on it so it's much easier to be in the search engines of Google,Yahoo,Aol etc. Try typing "bohtong" in the search box and you would see so many related blogs to "bohtong" ( but most are related to my blogs hehehe).
I would still host my blog with Blogspot because it is my favorite. Blogspot is foc (freee of charge) and using its template would make my blog crawled or spotted by the search engine easily ( me smart hor hehehe?).

Singapore Airlines (SIA) Male Cabin Crew Get New Look

From 30 June 2008, Singapore Airlines male cabin crew will take on a fresh look, wearing a new uniform, which will complement the legendary sarong kebaya worn by the Airline’s female cabin crew.
The new male cabin crew uniform is the creation of veteran French fashion designer Christophe Galibert, artistic Director of Balmain Uniformes. The fashion house was appointed for the redesign of the uniform in 2006.
Mr Galibert has also worked with the designer of the sarong kebaya, Mr Pierre Balmain, for more than 25 years.
Said Mr Galibert: “The entire Balmain team was thrilled to embark on the mission of designing the Singapore Airlines male cabin crew uniform and bringing to it our own international touch.
“In designing this new look, our main aim was to retain the legendary elegance of the Singapore Airlines male cabin crew but at the same time make it more consistent with the iconic creation of Mr Pierre Balmain’s sarong kebaya. Our challenge was, therefore, to find a matching smartness and unique sophistication for the male crew uniform.”
The new uniform comprises a single-breasted navy blue suit (jacket and trousers), sky blue shirt and striped tie. The tie colour differentiates the four ranks of crew.
SUIT – The navy blue jacket and trousers complement the colour worn by the majority of the female crew on board (blue).
SHIRT – The skyblue shirt blends in beautifully with the navy blue jacket and aptly reflects the colour of the sky.
TIE – The tie colour is the differentiating factor among the ranks and closely follows the kebaya colours of the female crew. In addition, the various colours of the stripes on each tie were carefully designed by Balmain to match the fine details of the sarong kebaya print.
Blue – Flight Steward
Green – Leading Steward
Red – Chief Steward
Purple – Inflight Supervisor
Said Mr Tan Pee Teck, Senior Vice President Cabin Crew, “The new uniform projects a smart and professional image and will instill a sense of pride in the crew. This is even more so since many of our crew members were themselves actively involved in the selection and fine-tuning of the design concept and colour scheme of the uniform.”
Note to Editors:
The current male crew uniform was designed by Lanvin in 1991.
Singapore Airlines currently employs 7,375 cabin crew members, of which almost 40% are male.
A selection of digital images is available from Singapore Airlines Public Affairs.

Gloria's ghost is back.
Gloria's ghost is back to haunt those like stomper wc and stomper 1234567 who "nailed" recently. The ghost's name is Susie and her newly created blog is here.
By the look of things,Susie is Hot! and she claims she is also, like Gloria a flight stewardess. Susie does not want to name the airline she is working for. She tells in her blog she does not want to be in the same situation as her friend Gloria.

Gloria is for real this time.
Gloria is for real this time, closing even her new blog because of the following post in Stomp by Stomper g1234567 demanding SIA takes action against her and her colleagues for posting her frustration online. Stomper g1234567 and stomper wc had finally put the nail into Gloria's coffin. May u RIP Gloria or at least your blogs,I mean...hahaha
STOMPer g1234567 has written in to ask for SIA's line of action with regard to its staff posting photos of themselves in uniform online and writing comments about work-related issues on their personal blogs.
The STOMPer is referring to a contribution by STOMPer Deana about SIA crew members posting photos of themselves in uniform online, as well as STOMPer WC's alert on a blog he found written by an SIA stewardess, who used vulgarities in her complaints about her job.
Wrote STOMPer g1234567 in an email to STOMP:
"So what is SIA's decision? To sack or not to sack?
"SIA should notify the public (which are also their customers) on this because it is a hot issue. Many are debating about it.
"If the staff can't seem to obey such simple rules and guidelines then they don't deserve at all to be working with such a prestigious airline company.
"In fact they don't belong in the working world for they lack discipline and are immature.
"SIA, please do something about this. Company's image is hanging by a thread here!"
STOMP is contacting SIA for comment. Visit Stomp to view comments and sympathy from the public.

Lastest on Stewardess Gloria's Blog :(
Gloria has completely shutdown her blog and I supposed StomperWc is jumping for joy for getting his/her way. Don't you worry guys because many more "Glorias" will come online, this I can promise you!
It is stewardess Gloria's blog stomp talked about.
A few days back a so-called regular passenger of SIA posted a portion of Gloria's post (Gloria is a blogger who claimed she was a stewardess from SIA) with STOMP, a Strait Times' portal urging SIA take stronger action against her for her obnoxiuos posting.
Gloria has since closed her blog to the public but has asked those who are interested to read her blog to email her so she could permit them access.
Heard that SIA has asked her to close her blog but did not take any disciplinary action against Gloria...Phew!
Gloria has alway maintain that SIA is a very good employer. In her blog she vent her frustration mainly against the nasty passengers who had treated her and her colleagues worse than maids. This,I would tend to agree with her. I had personally come across this type of passengers during my 35 years with Singapore Airlines and like Gloria, had blogged about them.
All said,I had also mentioned the passengers who were extremely gracious and good to the crew eg. Sutopo Yap, ex Chief Minister Mustapha of Sabah,Tan Sri Eric Chia, Mr & Mrs Lee Kuan Yew, Mr. E.W. Barker, Mr. Devan Nair, Mr. Robert Kuok,Mr."Suzuki" and many others.
I really don't understand what would that stomper achieved by posting Gloria's blog in STOMP. But is he or she a reguklar passenger with SIA as claimed?
PS This blog express support for gloria http://4gloria.blogspot.com/

A sad day for this stewardess.
Poor stewardess who rant about the frustration of her job and passengers had been penalised. Was stomper WC the complainer Capt Ian's wife (ex-stewardess too)?
SIA bans work-related matters on personal blogs
WRITING about or posting photos about work on your personal blog is out of the question, said Singapore Airlines.
SIA, which has revealed to the public a part of its employee blogging and Internet usage guidelines, has clearly said that action would be taken against employees who violate this clause in its guidelines.
This was in reply to a post on citizen media website Stomp, which showed its employees - male and female cabin crew - posing for pictures which were splashed on their personal pages on popular social networking site Facebook.
In the past week, SIA has also had to deal with one of its employees writing a tell-all blog, which was picked up by the locla media.
A spokesman for SIA said, in an e-mail: "Singapore Airlines requires its employees to not post comments about workrelated issues on their personal blogs.
"The posting of images of the Airline's logo, aircraft and trademark, pictures of the Airline's training facilities or equipment, and materials detailing internal work processes, and safety and security measures are also not allowed.
"This is to protect the privacy of customers and staff who will not have consented to their images or interactions with us being published."
The SIA spokesman added that action would be taken against individulas who violate the guidelines.
Human resource practitioners my paper spoke to said that while SIA's move is timely, there has generally been a lack of proper guidelines for employees' Internet activities among local companies.
Mr Victor Lai, 38, the head of business development and operational efficiency at HR consulting firm Achieve, said:
"There are just far too many avenues on the Internet that may possibly be abused by employees.
There should bemore monitoring by the bosses.
"Also, there should be more education by the employers to ensure their employees understand the consequences of their conduct."
Mr Josh Goh, 34, of staffing and HR consultancy company GMP, agreed: "From what I've seen, most guidelines that local companies have may be too vague. These managements need to look into phrasing specific clauses so as to preventmisunderstanding."
SIA isn't the first organisation here that has had to deal with such postings by its employees.
In another incident recently, which was also posted on Stomp, a police national serviceman was found to be posing with firearms and handcuffs in a photo on his Facebook account.
A police spokesman had said in an e-mail then that "investigation has been initiated against the national serviceman".

A rookie SIA stewardess's story
Breaking the Silence...
A random look in this deserted blog and I find that people are still coming here. Why do you come here? What are you hoping to read?
Do you hope to see that I have started two-timing with someone on flight?
Do you want to read that I met some hot ang moh man onboard and he is buying me diamonds and pearls?
Let me tell you the truth my friends... working in the airline seems to slowly kill me.
I have been flying to about 6 months now. My "p" plate (probation) period is finally over. But what have I achieved?
I found out that my boyfriend whom I have been with for two years has been secretly seeing someone else ever since I started flying...
They are not intimate with each other, but they share their thoughts and dreams with one another. He tells her that she understands him how no one else can. He says that she can read his thoughts before he even says them.
I took on this job despite my father's disapproval, but only because I knew I had my boyfriend's love and support. Now, our relationship is in a huge mess and crisis.. every flight I go for is a torture. I am currently going to be away from home for 1 week plus, I don't know what he is really up to. I can't spend time with him. I am all alone here.
People say your crew become your family once you start flying. If you have no other family and can deal with having one-two days family relationship and then saying goodbye and never seeing each other again, then yes, crew can be your family. I thought I had my family, my boyfriend - I am not the kind of girl who can switch off and flirt with other men. Having the comfort of a male in my hotel room cannot cause me to forget about the relationship and to try and forgive him and work things out.
Why don't I just forget about him and screw it, you might be thinking..
Deep in my heart, I know my boyfriend only did it because he was very lonely. He only moved to singapore 1 year ago and has no one other than me. When I go for long flights, he is all alone at home, staring at the computer... and when a girl says hi over cyberspace, who would not say hi back? And the rest, they say, is history.
I didn't want to blog at first, because I valued my job and my position with this company. But honestly, I don't think they value me. I have plenty of things to say to wide-eyed girls/guys who dream of joining this company, if you care to listen.
My heart is breaking now slowly and I can only dream of having a 9-5pm job where I know I can come home to my boyfriend everyday.
