Switched off that damn handphone!

Meg bumped into her ex boy friend (Tony) and was invited to have a drink with him at St James Power Station. They had a nice time reminiscing the time they were together as lovers.

The ex police sergeant
One day last year,Teck attended Luke's talk on how to pass the SIA cabin crew interview. Many crew wannabe find it extremely difficult to be recruited by SIA. Many tried numerous times but failed miserably at the interviews. Many didn't even got through the first of the four rounds of the interview. SIA was very strict and only outstanding candidates would be recruited.
After the talks, Luke told Teck that he would definitely be successful because SIA is always looking for a guy like Teck. He had the qualities of a good steward in that he was naturally friendly, polite and charming. Armed with his police experience,he would not find it difficult to get into SIA,Luke told him. Teck was elated and the following week he was going to attend the interview for the very first time. He was 27 years old but like Luke told him,age won't be a barrier.
The interview was on a Saturday and Teck was nervous as the day approached. He called Luke several times and asked how should he present himself at the first round of the interview. He was personally coached by Luke.
Teck eventually got through the interviews and was accepted as a steward by SIA. He was joyous and couldn't wait for his training to start.
Training came and gone within four months and Teck did his first solo flight. It was a difficult flight as the crew was not as co-operative to Teck as he expected. Subsequents flights were as bad. Teck became disillusioned and to make it worst, his girl friend left him for another guy.
The last time I heard from Luke was that Teck wanted to resign from his steward job.
He no longer contacted Luke.

Fair comments??
Anonymous said...Poor SS. Used to speak up for his other gutless CCEs to the bosses. In the end when they started a Training Company, after they left the Airline, to train foreign crew of foreign airlines, they FORGOT to include him. This is a clear reminder to those who think its worthwhile to help yr fellow CC. They are all as PLASTIC as a mineral bottle. They're are not worth the time of the day.

Not a Red Dot person said...Hello SS is doing better in his new found businesses than all those ungrateful ex colleagues of his.
The late Cyril thought lowly of those ex cce who formed that 'Red Dot" co.Cyril was a manager of that co. but was ridicled by his ex cce who became his bosses.
You are right to warn others who think of fighting for their 'plastic' colleagues.

Crew should be grateful to SIA
One ex-IFS told me he used to drive a taxi but life was not only tough but when his taxi got involved in accidents,he had to dish out hundreds of dollars from his own pocket to pay for the damages. His taxi insurance excess is more than a thousand dollars. He also said he was involved in 3 accidents in a year and that cost him a lot of money. He has since gave up driving and is working as a store manager which paid him about $1,500 a month.
Another ex CCE lamented that he wanted to be a security guard but was told he was too old for the job.He was 59 and the job would have paid him $50 a day for a 12 hour duty.
Another ex CCE lost $250,000 in a restaurant business he set up shortly after he left SIA.
An ex stewardess was seen in Geylang working as a Mama san in brothel.
An ex co pilot who was sacked by SIA for misconduct was seen driving a taxi. One captain who immigrated to Australia started off life there as a cab driver.
Of course there also success stories like the 2 crew who opened up the famous "Fish & Co" after quitting SIA. Success stories are far and few when compared to failures and the struggle one has to go through when leaving the airline.
As for myself, I am quite old and wouldn't dare to go for job interviews for the fear of being told "You are too old...". So I took up the "job" as a blogger and try to earn a few bucks.

Why CC think TC are asses?
Tech crew feel they have a right to the f & b on the plane and they are not wrong. It's the way they asked for the f&b from the cc that's important to the cc. If they ask nicely I don't think the cc would begrudge them. However, some tc feel that cc are employed to serve them and they are not obliged to be nice. This is where the problem lies.
Some capts I knew were very nice and diplomatic when requesting for f&b and I have seen cc serving them caviar, lemon honey water, food in first class even b4 paxs etc.
On the other hand,I had also experienced capts who were demanding and felt that being capts they were entitled to anything on the plane and treated cc like servants. Results? CC got no choice but to serve them but with bitterness.
The lesson here is capts or tc should made every effort to get along with cc and things will improve.
Legend: cc = cabin crew, tc = tech crew, f&b = food and beverage, pax = passenger.

Cabin crew vs Technical or cockpit crew part 2
Singapore Captain was constructive in his comments and would not allowed the offensive and crude remarks to affect him. This guy is worthy of his rank.
We hope to learn more about flying from "S'pore Captain.
Cabin crew please don't be petty and uncultured. My personal opinion is that tech crew is getting better in their people skills and nice to the cabin crew in general.
Let's salute the tech crew (of course there are asses too but in the minority)and learn from them about flying and what's going on in their division.
Latest post : click :: My Japanese stewardess was abused!
Cabin Crew vs Cockpit Crew(Technical Crew).
These days, the relationship between the 2 divisions are much better. Capts are more understanding towards cc and the daunting task they face when serving full loads of passengers. In fact,SIA resolves the issue by adding a criteria in the promotion of co-pilots to capts. The issue of getting along well with cc is also an important aspect of promotion of pilots. The pilots who are competent in their flying technicalities and abilities must also be good in crew relationship and man management skills or otherwise would not be made a capt.
In the old days,if one can fly well and sucked up to the bosses would be promoted. The aspect of human relationship was not important. That resulted in us having capts who were poor in man management.
I also found out more and more gals wanting to marry pilots even though the salaries of pilots or at least the purchasing power of their money is not as strong as before. Why is it so? The answer may be due to the better understanding and rapport between the pilots and cc.
Pilots and cc pls correct me if I have gone wrong in posting the above....thank U!

You reap what you sow
The answer is very simple. The crew hate passengers who are demanding, bossy, intimidating etc. and the only way to get back at them is to discriminate. How else do you expect the crew to react to those nasty passengers? You don't expect the crew to beat them up or be rude to them, right? So the only way is to show favour to the caucasian.
To give you an example, the Singapore pax when boarding the aircraft would rudely demand for a Straits Times. It goes like this..."hey steward get me a straits Times" whereas another pax would asked the crew politely like this.."If you have the time could you please get me a newspaper?" If you are a crew who do you prefer to give good service?
Once I had a pax( young S'porean)who was an executive with a big multi national company in S'pore. He was travelling business class. To show that he was a seasoned traveller with SIA, he would would his index finger to call for service. He would criticised and ridiculed the stewardesses and senior crew for the slightest things in the presence of his business associates. He would poked fun at SIA management for recruiting "ugly" stewardesses. He also told his associates that SIA stewardesses were flat chested and likened them to an airport runway.
The above are only 2 of the many examples of Singaporean behaviour.
So why blame the crew when they discriminate you?
