Passing the cabin crew interview

Hey the cc interview is round the corner rite? If you are attending one and you feel that you are the type who would be nervous and too serious to present yourself I have a tip for you.
During the first or for that matter all the rounds of interview (4 rounds in all)when asked to do a self introduction you do the following:

Imagine all the old fart interviewers are without their clothes...yes naked la!
Fix your eyes on them and visualise the females with their tits drooping down like old papayas (if at all theirs are that large..hehehe) As for the male interviewers imagine seeing them with their bananas all shrivelled up.
If you do the above it will surely put a big smile on your face. Some of you may even giggle and it will brighten your countenance.

Always remember SIA like to employ people who smiles alot,a little funny and humorous (like uncle here)Dun worry about making mistakes because SIA does not look for perfection but definitely look for funny people so they can make passengers smile too.

Disclaimer: boh tong does not guarantee that following his advice above will secure you the cabin crew job.

Striking a lottery.

A stewardess was trying to reassure a nervous old lady passenger on her flight (who was afraid of flying) that flying was safe.
Stewardess told the old lady "maam the chances of dying in a plane crash is rare and it's like striking a lottery....and we all have never strike one at all".
The old lady began to get more nervous, gestured to the stewardess to come closer to her and whispered into her ear..."I have struck one before..".

They want my stories..hahaha

2 1/2 years ago some ass from a book publishing co wrote this to me:

I've dropped by your site on a number of occasions and have enjoyed the gossip, past and present, from SIA. I've always thought about producing a kiss-and-tell exposé of SIA and was wondering whether you might be interested. I believe one or maybe two books have already been published about SIA stewardesses, do you happen to know what they're called?

Anyway, if you're interested and you think there is a book in you somewhere, please let me know.

Thanks and regards
AssXXXX

The above didn't work out and now another one emailed me this morning:

Hi Bohtong,

I stumbled upon your blog and would like to meet up ( BT: think so easy to meet up with me ah) to speak about the possibility of working together on a project.

My contact details are below.

Kindly give me a call at your convenience.

Regards,

Miss U ( this one is a female if can date then i will co-operate..kekeke)

A weirdo supervisor

This ifs was a weirdo meaning one who behaves in a strange manner. Let's say his name was Jay. On all his flights whether it was a 10 day flight or 2 day flight he would merely carry a brief case and no other suitcase. He would cramped his clothing and his favorite bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Whisky.
I once visited him in his hotel room and he was only wearing his brief. He would drink his whisky squatting on the floor. He seldom leave his hotel room nor socialised with his crew. He was one who did not like food. He enjoyed his whisky and cigarettes. Jay was also a man of few words. How did he get promoted to the supervisor rank baffled many.
There was an occasion during the pre-flight he ordered his crew not to serve his senior ,a check steward (equivalent of a cabin crew executive)food and drinks on a 12 hour flight. Jay was crazy to have issued that kind of instruction especially in the check steward's presence.
Naturally Jay was reported to the office and subsequently reprimanded.
BTW the check steward was also another weirdo. He was that CH whom I talked about a post below.
It was not long before these 2 weirdos were given the early retirement.

Away from union politics.....

Many people come here and may not understand about cc union issues and so they left in a hurry. As expected, people visit this blog to hear about juicy stories and gossips about crew. Ok ok I got a story coming up and it's a real story which I have not told before.
There was an ex colleague of mine called CH (Chee Hong..aiya not his real name la). He was damn egoistic and he thought with his Elvis Presley curry puff hairstyle he was handsome and sexy (yucks!).To be honest the stewardesses nicknamed him as the Tancho man ( tancho was a brand name of a greasy hair cream popular in the 1970s).
One night in an overseas hotel room he was with a newbie stewardess. It was not that Lyn the newbie liked to be with him in her room. She was forced to entertain him as he was her check steward and had an appraisal on her. Those days the stewardesses dared not complain about senior crew. Therefore CH took advantage of the situation and let himself into her room.
He brought a bottle of whisky, hoping to make Lyn drunk that night.
CH didn't realised that Lyn was a champion drinker.
After a few glasses of whisky water, CH started to strip himself to his underwear. He began to persuade Lyn to go to bed with him.
Lyn played along and started to pour more whisky for CH.They both yam seng and in no time CH was pissed. Lyn seized the opportunity and pushed CH out of her room. Then Lyn call security and CH was apprended.

Interesting reply

The following is an interesting reply to my post "Pilots have the last laugh..hahaha"(below)

No comparison:

A) Pilots join with long term career prospects laid before them.. till 60yrs. Cabin crew: 5 year terms etc.

B) They are all same gender. cabin crew: Male+ Female+ Undecided

C) They are smaller in number.
about 1000+ cabin Crew: 6000+

D) They have VERY DEFINED ROLES with VERY CLEAR duties.. and they are supported by LEGAL structure.
Cabin Crew: I report you, you report me... we report police, MP,Straits Times... etc

E) They are executives. Cabin Crew: rank & file

F) They are represented by independant elected representatives... NOT AFFILIATED WITH NTUC. Cabin Crew: whoever talks the loudest, whoever has time to loiter at STC or Airline house.. whoever knows who is who.

G) Seniority is an asset unlike Cabin crew.. seniority is a liability.

H) They all wear the same clothes, checked short sleeves shirt and black pants ( same as uniform) Cabin Crew: try to outdress each other.

I) They all think that FSS are easy. Cabin Crew: they all think pilots are stingy

J) Their training is very costly and they are bonded for 7 years.. therefore, they keep their mouths shut. Cabin Crew: "so what?" pay lor!!

Do not compare Pilots with Cabin Crew.
Otherwise we would be staying in same hotels, having same flight patterns, same rates of allowances, same reporting times.

Pilots are not interested in what happens to cabin crew. Cabin crew are not interested with pilots.
Its 2 different worlds.

Pilots have last laugh..hahaha

Can u imagine what will happened to the flight if the tc (technical crew or pilots)start to bicker or back stabbed each other like the cc (cabin crew)? With the pilots there is no such thing man. Discipline is strict and the captain holds the stick. If the other tc does not behaved in the cockpit the capt will whack them hard. Go against the capt is considered a mutiny. In the old days of sailing ships the mutineers would be instantly put to death (ever watch movies like Mutiny on the Bounty or Morgan the Pirate?).
Coming back to our tc,if the co pilot is not a likable chap the capt would not allow him to pilot the aircraft (take off and landing). In this way the co pilot would not have enough experience and the hours to become a capt.
The tc does not questioned the commander/capt of the flight unless it is serious safety issues.
The company is more concerned with the morale of the capts than the co pilots. The co pilots are happy with the status quo because they know that one day they too would become capts or commanders.
Cc is immature and short sighted and therefore is not concerned about their future. They do not realised that if they back stab their seniors now they would in return be screwed by their juniors when they become senior cc.
In cc the union issue is also similiar. The opposition would sabotaged the incumbent. CC wants to be in the limelight and one way is to be a unionist.
During meeting with management, cc unionists would belittle the management. They would also bang table and shout at their svps, managers and cces. Management would try to look pitiful and absorbed all the rubbish the unionists dished out to them. I have often heard praises being heaped on Doraisamy and Eddy Chew (ex union leaders in cc)by cc for ridiculing the management people.
Little do these small minded cc realised that when management pretend to be stupid and humble they are playing into their hands. Then when the unionists' ego is inflated, management would snook them and get whatever they set out to do.This is the art of negotiation,I was once told by an ex svp. "Butter their asses until they (the unionists)feel shiok shiok and then we snook them and dish out whatever we want".
Hello cc wake up man! Well not in a hundred years I supposed.

This jr crew's comment make sense?

hi BT,

haven't been visiting ur blog for a long time n suddenly so many posts about jnr vs snr crew.

i'm a jnr crew myself n my take is this. times have indeed changed n no matter how much snrs complain, u can change maybe 1 or 2 individuals but never ALL of the young generation's attitude to work and life. if a new crew decides she will not take the css's shit, giving her more shit will not make her a better crew.

if the management recognizes this as a threat to the company's survival, they could be doing something about it, not to change our mindset, but to create a good environment to motivate young crew to perform better.

yet so far it has only been disappointing. crew morale remains low. certain cost-cutting measures (eg. downgrading hotels, shorter layover periods, simplifying services etc.) only make us feel like we're moving towards being a budget airline. how do u expect jnr crew to experience the same magic of flying as before? people blame us for not having the passion but i believe passion can be cultivated and comes with a sense of belonging (which unfortunately does not only come with reciting the pledge 1st day of every mth).

encouraging crew to write each other in may not be the best policy, but perhaps they thought it's a good way to protect the new 'fragile' generation, and not to mention appease these opinionated people. after all, they gotta uphold their own rules that they created. of cos, the flip side is they have created a 'write-in' culture at the same time.

there's a reason y the management is called 'management'.

lastly, some1 mentioned that respect is earned and not expected. most of the new crew will definitely respect their elders, but if u behave like an asshole and expect me to treat u like a god, the ans is no way.

juz my 2 cents. happy flying!

In response to a CSS's "Word of Wisdom"(post below this one)

Management has neglected the attitudinal aspect of service.
They seem to favour issuing demerit points to address undesirable behaviour and reminders to provide quality service through a 1-2-3 process via circulars.
Sure, service can be provided with a 1-2-3 process and for the theorists, yes, the competency can be measured.
Can we measure attitudes? yeah, sure, on a scale of 1 to 5.. then collate and voila! we have a KPI that measures attitude!! Totally inadequate.

They have managed to remove the barbs from the C-i-C. "Please remind all crew that..." The C-i-C is now merely a telephone exchange.
Repeating what management wants.
All crew will treat the C-i-C as just a loudspeaker. A person that is not to be respected. A person who just carries out the orders from the top... just another crew with a different coloured tie, just another crew that serves just like any other.
So what is the point of being promoted?.. just the IFA and an opportunity to debrief another crew. Big Deal.

The union is just another side show... talk about extensions, talk about protecting the "worker". talk about "saving" jobs.
The politics of Unionism is more than just "saving" jobs. There must be a slant in favour of the "worker" The Union cannot just hide behind the understanding that they are merely around just to ensure management stay within NTUC guidelines or MOM rules. They have to be seen as a defender against management bullying.
They have to get involved in creating promotions, career paths and the welfare of "workers". Defend your members.. even the individuals who have been charged with serious allegations. Currently, no one in the union has the eloquence to debate with management. Do you want to be re-elected? Show some teeth at least... there is not much hair left anyway.

The New Cabin Crew: 6000 strong, 1% are bad apples.. how many is 1% of 6000?... its 60. All we need is these 60 to go around reporting sick at last minute, smoking in public, being rude to customers.. and lots more...They can keep Crew Performance CCE gainfully employed.
Do you know how many people are working in CP dept? gosh!.. its like a Small Medium Enterprise!..
They do nothing but track indexes, track MCs.. and a host of repetitive clerical work.
They think they can track attitudes by calling up the crew and interviewing them at STC. They distrust the C-i-C. so they do the tracking remotely, by looking at complaints vs compliments.
With just 1% of crew being 'bad' they (and the union too, becos they cant do anything since they are toothless)create a long list of demerit points. Just to capture the 1%.. now, is this Harvard graduate quality solution?

Leave now before you become fossilised. Its a downward spiral.

Word of wisdom from a Chief Stewardess to the young and "how lian" crew

If flying is only a job. Then why choose this job if you have no passion ? Why take this low esteem job of a waiter/waitress in the air when you have so many other options ? You have the papers and the new G mentality , why stress yourself in this work ? Move on and do something more worth your while.

Working without any passion will only wears you down in no time. Believe me. It will add stress to your life.

I have a word of advice to the Jr crew. Your manual and your aptitude can only get you so far.

To be a good CC you don't have to apple polish your senior. Carry balls to get good check reports etc ...just do your job and know your stuff.

You need to possess that mental flying attitude if you want to enjoy your flying career. Being a graduate can only get you so far. Today , who is not a graduate today ? hmmmmm ......so you need that extra X factor.

To the older crew ( like me ) who are counting years , months and days to be in the same league of the Dodo birds , please remember , we belong to a different generation. So please relax and loosen that bun a little. ( just an expression )

We need to adapt ( and I am trying ) Even the passengers we get today are so different from those we used to get on F and J in the hey days. So you see ...we need to move with the time.

..junior crew ...listen and listen good. You are as good as the service you give to your passengers. You judge your passengers , your passengers judge you too. Whether you like it or not , that ass hole on board is paying you your salary and your allowance.

I know some of these ass holes deserve to be shot , but embrace yourself and just say to yourself ...thank god we are parting ways after this flight. Smile and sashay away. Why stress yourself ??? Have a pleasant flight.

Outstation , if you do not wish to bond with your fellow colleagues , no one is forcing it down your throat. All you have to do is be nice and polite. Besides the bonding , it will also strengthen your social skills.

Talking about retirement ??? hahahah , it will get to you someday soon. Graduate or not ...age is a number. Most importantly is when that day comes , you can look back and say to yourself " How much you have enjoyed and lived"

Have a pleasant flight !!

Love always
Matahari
The lady in Red is after you.

MY 2 cents :)

Love Matahari

SIA stewardess on his flight.

A PPS passenger took a photo of the above stewardess with his mobile phone and posted in his his blog. He has this to say %#$@+*

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Today he's a nobody

Alex was a graduate cabin crew. He became a leading steward (LS) in a short span of time. He was a likeable cc but by his seniors. To his junior he was a slave driver. Alex knew the currying favour game very well. His managers, cces and svps loved him.
Tired of flying,Alex applied to be an office cce (cabin crew executive). He was assinged to various departments in cc. Over a 3 year period he executed his duties much to the delight of his manager and was recommended to a be a cce/ct (cabin crew executive check and training) an enviable post.
Things got into Alex's head when he was made a cce c/t. He knew his colleagues were non graduates and he looked down on them. He would, behind his colleagues' back made fun of them together with his manager who was also a graduate.
One day, a stewardess's husband who was a LS complained to the office about Alex's unprofessional handling of his wife's appraisal. It was alleged that Alex called the stewardess to meet him at a lonely spot in S'pore for her appraisal. Any idiot in SIA cc would know that a superior had no right besides being against the rule to meet privately away from the office/airplane to discuss about the appraisal or work.
It was alleged that Alex was trying to take advantage of the naive stewardess and threatened her with a bad check. If she "co-operates" with him he would changed the ratings on the appraisal from bad to good.
After an investigation by cc management, they found there was truth in the complaint. CC management reluctantly asked Alex to leave the company. It wasn't sure whether Alex was compensated (cash)but he had to leave so as to avoid embarrassing the company. Can you imagine if the press got to know about the case.
Alex's wife who was an ex-stewardess had tolerated Alex's behaviour for several years. In fact, she knew about a case of him making a stewardess pregnant while they were married. That was the last straw and she left him.
Today, Alex is a nobody. He now drives a taxi and complained to an ex colleague that he can't make ends meet.

Divide and rule tactic

In politics and sociology, divide and rule (derived fromLatin divide et impera) (also known as divide and conquer) is a combination of political, military andeconomic strategy of gaining and maintaining power by breaking up larger concentrations of power into chunks that individually have less power than the one implementing the strategy. In reality, it often refers to a strategy where small power groups are prevented from linking up and becoming more powerful, since it is difficult to break up existing power structures.
Therefore in cc or any other organisation this divide and rule tactic is widespread. It is a way of gathering information or intelligence about the things that are going on.
Management has limited resources to reach out and getting the junior to spy on the seniors is one way of knowing whether these senior cc are working or shirking their responsibilities.
In like manner, the seniors are asked to appraised on the juniors and management would also used the results as one of the criterion for promotion or rewards.
CC needs to be more shrewd and counter the divide and rule tactic by banding together and talk good about each other. If you are shrewder than management you would be enjoying your work. However from what I've read in the comment space in my blog,cc aren't that smart after all. They simply fall into the trap set out by the management.

Stop that bickering wilya?

Crew should stopped bickering about each other... more so the junior ones. Respect the seniors and try to get along with each other. Dun care what the management tells you but once the aircraft doors are closed, you guys are in charge. The flight takes off and you are the kings and queens.
I remember a captain once told me..." Once the doors are closed,we run the show. We do whatever we like eg. upgrade our friends to first class, eat before paxs did especially the caviars and pate etc etc."
How would management knows what you do on board if none of you spied for them? Be good to one another and enjoy the work and f%#@k what is in the book. Have a good time and at the end of the day enjoy your stay overseas and collect the allowances.
Sincerely I believe that once you guys, including the tech crew can be good to each other the paxs will also benefit.
So dun be stupid and be kay khiang and screw each other up. If you do the management will have the last laugh.

Junior hantam back at senior crew

Anonymous New Practical Kid said...

Wah.If the Snr behave like army sergeant as per yesteryears, all the junior like myself will write them in and there goes their jobs.Even better, write in newspaper forums and internet online forums.CC mgt sure afraid of these and thus need to do something on this 'siao' snr crew.Service drop? Why does the Snr worry so much?It is ONLY a JOB.Just do it and go home lah.Overseas, go shopping & clubbing lah.No need to invite the Snr Crew as they will nag about how we shld dress, how we shold behave. All of them full of shit. And who will have the last laugh? We the junior lah.'Cos these same Snr Crew got no extension

BT. I feel sorry for the CS. Howver, he shld know better.Gone are the olden days. Today we hv rights.Even paxs, dont play play or joke with us or they will land in jail.Whn the older generation of crew tell us story abt hw they try to meet paxs whims & fancy, we think that these old crew are still living in the dinosaur era.Today, we just follow SOPs & give paxs what is written in the manual, nothing more, nothing less.No need to polish their balls or make them look important or do small talk with them.We are here to ensure their safety, which is more important. Am I right, uncle?

Go and whack those TOP 10 crew jialat jialat, give it to them!! I really hope company retrenches those old and lazy senior crew who do nothing.. CS or IFS BIG F**K?? Go outside at the most be taxi driver...Wake up all you bloody SENIOR crew!

Yah! just do SOP.. bcos if you diveiate, office will query you, even if you have reported it.

I have heard of senior crew being given demerit points and warning letters for excersising their judgement. So why should we "use common sense"? if there is no more coke, thats it! why bother to do more for pax or even to report it?
Management will just say: " Report in VR"

As for many of us "junior" crew, its just work.

Smile and you are accused of being 'Tih Kor'
Do not smile and you are 'stuck up'

Damn if you do and damn if you dont

Snr gave them back to jnr crew

OK! OK!.. rest period over!!
get your backsides out of the galley and serve Juice & water, take drink orders from J class and prepare for service!!!

No more surfing the net and doing online trades on ebay, SGX... and I dont give a damn if your are degree holder or not.! 3yrs, 5 yrs or 15 yrs..LS or CS..

So many empty coffee cups, empty plastic cups in J class pax tables!
What the hell have you been doing?
and why are the blankets not folded away? No more toothbrushes in the toilets? GO TO FIRST CLASS & GET THEM NOW!!!

Who was the one who served instant noodles without using linen on the tray? and no offers of chinese tea to go with it?

Where is the CS in charge of this J class?. Call yourself a "Chief"??
Please do overlap service for Breakfast and it should be completed within 45mins from the first tray served to the last tray collected. I am not the least interested about your full load.
I am certain you can deal with this ... otherwise give your name tag to the LSS instead.

.... meanwhile... Captain Yong wants a soft boiled egg, kopi-tiam style... with tau yew..
and we should serve it... along with the carrot cake and chilli sauce to First Officer Jeffrey...

... why?... becos we will chocks on at 12:31.. means 2.5...times

Junior crew are just about themselves. Too selfish to think for anyone else but themselves.

- Roster (Why am I given so many turnarounds?)
- Bitch about other crew (How did she/he get in?)
- Throw away sales coupon (Because they are not the one earning the commission.)
- "Wasn't taught how to clean the toilet so I do not clean them"
- "How was the food prepared?" Don't know

All they can think of are LV, Gucci and Prada.

Be grateful for what you have. It is a job, whether people value it or not, you do it well.

All you do is to bloody complain, what do you do about it? Nothing! Want to quit, don't dare to quit. Bloody Goons...

To the highly / over qualified / Graduate junior crew out there, spare a thought before you nasty comment. Respect the seniors, of course, not to those idiots.

Granted, I have my fair share for abt 11 years plus in this line, having seen CC changing hands several times. Top 10? You named it, I have them. They are the ones who made us where we are today, of course in the course on it, plenty of nonsense which i don't deny.

The reason why SQ service is going down - staff lacking of passion. This so called " Super on " siao lang didn't make it to extension or failed to pass down all those secret trades. As a result, the newer generation of crew only follow by the book strictly. Remember, CC is no rocket scientist, being able to write an article in your VR doesn't make you a better crew. Its because of crew like you whom you think you can run a flight without the guidance of experienced ones, good luck !!!

So, pls don't bragged about how highly qualified you are, or smart your brain exercises. They are things in life that paper qualification or school will never teaches you - experience. EG: Pax handling, look at how the " O Level " holders as you have mentioned senior ones does it.

In the past, CC was headed by service oriented personel. Today its overlooked by business people, whom are only interested in the profits. F@#k the service if its not cost effective.

Its clear cut if the system doesn't change, it will ultimately be the downfall of SQ CC.

Fyi, I am also a graduate, caught between the crossroad of both new /old school of thoughts in CC. Nevertheless, I won't never think or talk like you, let alone your self centered behaviour.

No offence, just my two cents worth
See you onboard.

Birthday party but not for me.

Eddy is celebrating his 60th birthday party in one of the local hotels in S'pore. Among his guests are the chairman, ceo, former svpcc Eddie J,former evp Michael Tan, some hotshots from NUTC. He forgot to invite his former colleague Alan Tan whose team defeated him in the last union election. He also forgot to invite ex svpcc who was closed to him at one time Sim K.W., myself and ah Song.
Although he didn't invite most of us here lets wish a "Happy 60th Birthday" and may he have a happy retirement too!

Molest during nightstop again?

They gathered in the crew room in the hotel for a chit chat and togoh (drinking) session. Some hotels where the crew n/s (nite stop) would provide a common room for the crew to hold meetings/briefings etc.
This particular room didn't have a toilet. There was a stewardess who wanted to use a toilet was offered by her c/s (chief steward) to use his room toilet which was near the crew room.
When she entered or had just finished wee wee,it was alleged the c/s grabbed her and started to kiss and fondled her. She was too shocked to scream or shout and stood there not knowing what to do. It was also alledged our friend became more chio or gatal (horny)and went further to strip her.
Aiya sometime these male crew think they are Tom Cruise or Brat Pit types and stewardesses will fall at their feet begging them to screw them. When they are being reported for molest or raped then they would come down to earth and realised that they more like beasts. Stupid moron get sack for cheap thrill and caused misery to their families.
Alamak go to Geylang la and pay $100 and get sexy voluptuous China girls who would do anything you asked them to do ( lots of competition in Geylang mah because there are Thai gals, Vietnamese gals, Malaysian and multi national gals there too...want Russian,Croatian and Eastern European with blond hair go to Orchard Rd).
This c/s would be lucky if SQ does not turn him to the police. He would be caned if found guilty of molest or rape. Probably SQ would be lenient and just sack him if found guilty.
Frankly I hope the c/s would not be found guilty during the disciplinary hearing cos I really really pity his innocent family.

God, Send Money!

A little boy wanted $100.00 very badly and prayed for weeks, but nothing happened.
Then he decided to write God a letter requesting the $100.00.

When the postal authorities received the letter to God, USA, they decided to send it
to the President. The president was so amused that he instructed his secretary to send
the little boy a $5.00 bill. The president thought this would appear to be a lot of money
to a little boy.

The little boy was delighted with the $5.00 bill and sat down to write a thank-you note
to God, which read: "Dear God: Thank you very much for sending the money.

However, I noticed that for some reason you sent it through Washington, DC., and those
assholes deducted $95.00 in taxes."

Pilots fought cabin crew

In today's Straits Times there was an article about Air India cabin crew fighting with the pilots on a flight over Pakistan. It was reported that a stewardess and a steward fought with the pilots and one pilot and the male cabin crew sustained bruises.
All crew involved in the fight has been suspended from duty by Air India management. An investigation is going on now.
Tell you about my experience with Air India's pilots whom I had flown with some years back. Most of these ex captains from Air India employed by SIA were arrogant and cocky. They gave the cabin crew lots of trouble and one in particular was capt T.H. That Mother F*****
threatened to sack me when I defended a stewardess who was bullied by him. He told me " In Air India,I would have sacked people like you"...well well no point going on because he is 6 feet under ground.
There was another one...can't remember his name though. This capt also was an ass who loved to kick the cc around...now also dead!
I dun care what the matter was on that flight the ST mentioned today but I am sure the cc of Air India were bullied by those high almighty pilots who think the world of themselves....yucks they are merely drivers!
Can't stand those jackass......kick them cc and feed them you know what with their food.

BT: Dun forget people will alway remember and curse you for the things you unfairly did to them even after you have been long gone and roasting in hell.

Expression of frustration by SQ cabin crew

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "What do u think of this comment?":

It is true. Many crew are very creative and talented. They are also able to think outside the box.
That is why they were selected too.

If you have what it takes to be a SQ crew, then that is what the job market outside wants too!

You are all able to make decisions that are balanced and meet the interest of customers and staff. Why continue to do excellent work and not be recognised? One wrong move ( which is entirely human ) will send you for a disciplinary inquiry. You may not get the sack.
But would you still have the fire?

You would have no choice but to stay... only because you had stayed too long and got comfortable and lazy.

Most cabin crew have great, likeable persona.. are quick thinkers while on your feet ( the more senior ones )and extremely resourceful. These are qualities that many employers outside of SQ would love.Do not waste your effort in a job that appears to pay well.
Go and allow your skills and attitude to be appreciated by others... you will be surprised how many jobs are available that you can do.. and yet be able to afford to fly to JFK or TYO

Free tickets? Oh! gimme a break man!.. and balloting? and get treated like dirt? ( dont forget to inlcude the list price to your tax )
Spend your energy and focus on doing really a good job and what you are passionate about.
Where you will be appreciated. and not be spied, hunted and threatened and made to be totally indebted to an employer that knows you as staff no: 000076543H who offloaded a coke, and did not submit an MC whithin x days, and " sorry, your application for annual leave in Dec cannot be approved due to quota.." and yet, some still think its a great Fortune 500 comapny.... oh! boy!

Singapore Airlines (SIA) Crew Stories at Saturday, October 03, 2009 10:04:00 AM

Airman has left a new comment on your post "Expression of frustration by SQ cabin crew":

It is indeed disheartening and demoralising when the Management do not value the Senior crew.Unlike other profession(if I can call it that),Cabin Crew is unique. You don't learn the ropes from books and manuals, you gain experience. When decisions are made,it's from the past experiences that you gleaned from.Unfortunately most of the CCEs in the office are very young and most have very little or no experience as a flying crew.Well,if SIA thinks they can manage and maintain where they are today(which i think they are clinging on to by a thread!)than good luck to them.Senior crew are a valued asset(well,..most anyway) and shouldn't be discounted as a dispensable commodity.

Ha! ha!.. all the best to the hopefuls... keep praying, hoping, and have a wait& see attitude... by the time you realise, your Union would have secured their future, the management would still have theirs.. and the rest?... join the queue at MOM..

In SQ, you are not promoted because of your abilities.
You are promoted because so that blame can be assigned to you!!
Did you all not realise that?

Look back at history...
ask yourselves...

BT: I sincerely hope cc management will address the concerns and frustration of its cabin crew esp the senior ones. I also hope Alan & co. will also help to raise the morale of its members. Surely things didn't look as good as when the CCE(C/T)s were around.
There is a popular saying and it's appropriate to apply to this situation..."Penny wise pound foolish"

What do u think of this comment?

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Chief steward arrested.":

Prepare to leave Cabin Crew.
Its a deathtrap.
Do not be lull into a false sense of security.
10% cut, flight patterns cut,
promotion debatable, its no longer a workplace that recognises passion.
Its a witch hunt.

If you are above 45, you are caught.
Cant leave because of loans and kids.
If you are below 45, you think you are still valued.Think again.

Think you can survive by just following the book, stay in your room, be a nice supervisor, be nice to union, be nice to ward leader, sign up for courses, dont offload things, dont report sick?

Many others have done that already. Yet, one wrong move...
.. one carton of milk, one copy of newspaper, one wrong word, one decision that management feels is wrong, one accusation that you did not close the bar...

6000 crew... 10 less is not going to make any difference to SQ..
They are very confident 200 more will take your place.. and its encouraged by many blog sites that earn money by claims that they know the secret to be a airline crew.

Prepare to leave cabin crew.

Another crew gone and more going soon!

IFS Rex Pek had just retired less than a year and unfortunately died of cancer yesterday (today's obituary in Straits Times). Of course he was sick for a while and chemo didn't work for him. I was told he died of colon cancer.
How many crew and ex crew had passed away this year? I can't count really. I also heard another IFS is having severe Parkinson and his wife is having cancer. An ex check steward and station manager Doraisamy is also very sick with cancer.Heard he has outlived the 6 months his doctors gave him but looking at him it's only a matter of time.I wish them speedy recovery.
As for myself,I am grateful to the Almighty for giving me good health. But then it's also a matter of time. If I could chose the way I am to die,I would certainly don't want to suffer from having cancer nor any bedridden sicknesses. I would prefer to die in my sleep....yes peacefully without pain nor fear.
To tell the truth,I often thought I had died in my sleep but only to wake up to reality that I am still kicking and alive. One day or night,I hope to wake up in the land of the blessed with angels and nice "people" around me. Can just imagine it's gonna to be a place where there will be no bitterness,no malice,no SIA management,no union,no nasty passengers or any bad and negative feelings around you.
We shouldn't fear death but take it as a way of escape from this horrible place call earth and dwell in eternity with our Almighty, friends and loved ones.
