This airline sucks!
A few years after we left SIA, a foreign airline advertised in the press inviting candidates, preferably ex cabin crew to join them.
They had indicated they wanted experienced SIA crew and me and a few of my colleagues applied for the position of flight attendants.
Many former SIA crew also applied for the same position.
On the day of the interview,we were surprised to find the interviewers were our former colleagues in MSA.
During the interview we talk about the good old days of flying with MSA. The interview turned out to be a chit chat session. We were promised of the job which we applied. It was a satisfying interview so we thought.
We were then asked to assist in conducting some of the interviews a few days later.
One of my ex colleagues was even asked to co-ordinate the medical check-ups of the successful candidates for the junior posts.
We helped in every way we could being knowledgeable in cabin crew airline administration.
After the interviews were concluded in Singapore the whole team of the interviewers flew home.
After months of waiting for the invitation to start training and the numerous email we sent, they was no news from their end.
In short, we found we were made used of and that the airline did not want us in the first place. The interviewers felt we, as ex SIA people ,could be a threat to their survival.
BT: The interviewers were our junior stewards during the time with MSA ( we were chief stewards).
Few months later:
One retired SIA inflight supervisor was recruited by the said airline. He was so frustrated over the way he was treated that he quit just after 2 months of flying for that airline.
A year or two later:
The whole lot of Singapore based cabin crew were retrenched.
