I am not generalising that all Ang Mohs are bad people. In my line of business,I have come across many nice Ang Mohs and a few bad ones. The following story I am going to tell is this particular AM (Ang Moh)who still think he is living in the colonial age.
I advertised thru the Internet I could provide transportation of small items and pets (cats & dogs or small pets..horses not allowed) for a small fee. This is one way to recover the cost of owning the van.
One morning, an AM called me to pick up a "small" BBQ grill set. I told the caller I merely provide transportation and I do not help in moving the items as I am quite old. We agreed and was given the address to collect the items.
On reaching the given address, I pressed the door chime and a Filipino maid invited me into the house. I saw an AM man at his computer a few meters away in the living room. I greeted him but he didn't respond.
I was surprised the "small"BBQ grill turned out to be rather large. I asked the maid to assist me to move it to my van as I myself could not manage. On hearing this the AM turned around and in a stern voice told his maid "Don't touch the damn thing, he is the mover and he will have to do it himself" I replied "Sir, I can't move it myself...." But he didn't reply and was back at his computer. The maid apologised profusely to me.
I called my customer and told him about our agreement that I do not lift the item. I was shocked when he did a "U turn" and said it was my job to move the item.
We had an argument over the phone and it ended with me telling him to go and "fly a kite" (meaning pissed off).
As I was driving home, I had a call. This time it was the sweet voice of a lady. She wanted me to assist her to move house. It was urgent she told me and wanted me to come ASAP. She asked me for my quote and I told her it was $60 for transportation only. She challenged me to come quickly and would pay me double what I had asked for. I agreed and within 15 minutes I was at her place.
The lady and her sister began to move around 7 boxes of her personal belongings to my van. I assisted by arranging the boxes and some miscellaneous items in the van.
After loading the things, I drove off with her sitting next to me. Her sister drove her car and I followed her.
As I was driving I asked her why the hurry to move? "Oh I fought with my boy friend and I don't want to live with him anymore" she replied sadly. "Do you both fight often...sorry for being inquisitive?" I asked.
I found out her boy friend was an old fellow who was interested in having sex with her all the time.
"But he can't even have a strong erection and what's the use of teasing me all the time and left me hanging dry" she told me about him. I said " You should have encouraged him to use Viagra" " Even Viagra does not work on him" she replied tearfully.
I felt bad for intruding her privacy and apologised for asking too many personal questions.
We arrived at the destination we offloaded her belongings and moved them into her new place. She paid me $160 for the job plus a little peck on my cheek. As a business person, I remained professional and didn't want to have any emotional nor sexual attachment with my clients. Besides, she may have thought that I am an old chap and similarly like her ex, Viagra could not work. FYI, I was told TongKat Ali is better and safer as it has no side effects.

Muammar Gaddafi is a Jew!
Quote
Israel’s Channel 2 News last year interviewed two Israeli women of Libyan origin who claimed to be relatives of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Israel Today's Ryan Jones reminds us.
The older of the two interviewees, Guita Brown, claimed that she is Gaddafi’s second cousin: her grandmother was the sister of Gaddafi’s grandmother. The younger of the two women, Rachel Saada, Brown's granddaughter , explained in more detail: “The story goes that Gaddafi’s grandmother, a Jewess, was married to a Jewish man at first. But he treated her badly, so she ran away and married a Muslim sheikh. Their child was the mother of Gaddafi.” While Gaddafi’s grandmother converted to Islam when she married the sheikh, according to Jewish religious law (and common sense), she was ethnically still Jewish. And that makes Gaddafi's mother a Jewess. And if Gaddafi's mother is a Jewess, what does that make Gaddafi?
At that point in the news report, the anchor exclaimed, “So, the point is that Gaddafi doesn’t just have Jewish relatives, he is Jewish!”
That may come in handy. According to Israel's Law of Return, anyone with a Jewish grandparent is entitled to become a citizen, no questions asked.
If the story told by Brown and Saada is true, Gaddafi is entitled to immigrate to Israel like every other Jew. Even if every other country on earth refused him entry, the Jewish would be obligated by its own laws to take in one of their own.
Perhaps he can bring along some of his oil?

Pretty protesters,captured tank,Gaddafi and son
Wah lau so nice hor? I dun mean the captured armoured tank nor that
monster and son but that shockingly
pretty Libyan girl (the other 2 dun know whether gals or not).
Judging by how Gadaffi and his son looked,
I tot Libyan people were not so good looking. Sure it got more
than oil and fire.... Pssst ....must visit Libya
after Gadaffi is gone and the fighting is over.
Wah Gadaffi din tell us tat Libya got such sexy babes,so
selfish maybe wanna keep to himself and sons.
Now see he has got himself into trouble.
BT wanna meet that lovely protester (hope she wont be killed
"take it easy gal dun fight too hard la just let
the men fight ok?").
Tiananment Square style won't work with the Libyans.
In Libya, the ruler Col Qaddafi told the people not to fight him or else be killed. In Singapore,it seems to be just the opposite. Singapore govt recently changed the electoral map to "lower the hurdles for parties intending to contest the elections". Very few opposition party members ever won the general election in S'pore except for the PAP when it was in the opposition many years ago. So very few opposition in Parliament so the govt makes it easier for them to win this time.
I hope I would not disappoint my PM for not taking part in the coming general election (me too old) although I appreciate his goodwill and good wishes to his opponents.
In Singapore only there are only 2 opposition members in Parliament and a few other are nominated MP.
A Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP) is a Member of the Parliament of Singapore who is appointed instead of being elected into office by the people, and who does not belong to any political party or represent any constituency. There are currently nine NMPs in Parliament. The introduction of NMPs in September 1990, effected to bring more independent voices into Parliament, was an important modification of the traditional Westminster parliamentary system that Singapore had.
May God bless Singapore and if only a few opposition candidates are voted in the coming general election many Singaporeans including the ruling party will be disappointed.
BT: sorry for posting the video in Mandarin cos I am currently studying the language lah.

Dishonest cabin crew wannabes
In my line of business,I have come across some people who aspire to be cabin crew to be cheats and liars.
I conduct seminars and sell guide books over the Internet. I won't say many of the would be customers are bad people but a few did try to con me by claiming they had paid for the seminar or E- books when they did not. One girl after receiving the E-book complained that she did not authorised the transaction using her credit card.
Another guy claimed I have sent him an outdated E-book and not the current updated copy. He actually paid for the E-book 2 years ago. One went to the extent of claiming she had transferred the fee into my account for the seminar. A quick check with the bank showed she did not. At one point,I have even thought of reporting those cases to the police.
Seriously, do you think I should hand over the names of those dishonest people to the airline? If I do not and by chance if they are employed I would feel I have failed in my duty as an ex staff for not alerting the airline.
Let me have your views please.

To hell with airline stories,at least for now because hundreds of Libyan protesters are being slaughtered while the world stood by and talk
The UN, USA, Britain and the whole world are full of rhetoric while the Libyans are being massacred and murdered by the Kadaffi regime.
I heard over the news that some countries and the UN are talking about sancations against the brutal regime at this point of time when hundreds of innocent Libyans are killed. What can sanctions do at a time like this? They condemned Kadaafi's merciless acts of repression but did nothing to stop the violence. Talk,talk,talk....NATO ( no action talk only ),that's what they are good for.
Ibrahim Dabbashi, Libya’s deputy ambassador to the UN asked the Security Council to impose a no fly zone over Libya to stop the massacre but was met with more rhetorics.
We just hope and pray that someone or some country could come to the rescue of the Libyan people by disarming Kadaffi and his mercenary thugs. Latest report is more than 1,000 people have been machine gunned and killed.
Down with this tyrant and all the tyrants and dictators in the world!
Asbestos in the Aviation Industry
The commercial airline industry began to grow in the early decades of the twentieth century. After both world wars, an influx of trained pilots into civilian life meant that airlines could expand beyond the delivery of mail and into the transportation of passengers. Newer, larger airplanes needed to be constructed to hold these passengers, and innovative designs such as the Boeing 247 and Douglas DC-3 in the 1930s allowed the industry to profit, even as the Great Depression was ravaging the United States.
However, around this time, another innovation was taking off – asbestos. Though this mineral had been known for its strength and heat-resistant qualities for some time, it was not until the early to mid-twentieth century that it was mined in mass quantities and used in everything from insulation to floor tiles to brake pads. Though it was the shipbuilding industry that made the most extensive use of asbestos, it could be found in the engines, valves, and gaskets of airplanes, as well – anywhere that would be subjected to extreme temperatures. Asbestos did its job as an insulator very well, but there were hidden costs to the use of the material that would not be revealed for several more decades.
When asbestos is combined with other materials, it is generally not harmful. However, the stress put on the materials by those valves and gaskets eventually damages them and wears them down, sending tiny, needle-like fibers into the air. Once breathed in, those fibers can lodge in the lungs and other body tissues and cause serious health problems such as symptoms of mesothelioma, an aggressive and usually fatal cancer of the lining of the chest and abdomen. Pilots in the U.S. military are particularly at risk, since they may have come into further contact with asbestos on aircraft carriers or in barracks. Mesothelioma symptoms can take between 20 and 50 years to surface after asbestos exposure, so many pilots and mechanics who were routinely exposed to asbestos during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam are only now realizing that they are sick.
The use of asbestos is a sad chapter in the history of the American aviation industry. Mesothelioma life expectancy is only around 10% five years after diagnosis, and many good pilots and mechanics have succumbed to this terrible disease. However, alternative materials are now used in place of asbestos, helping to ensure the health and safety of those who work in the airline industry.

Expats the target of ‘molest’ scams?
The story is usually the same. Mr Expat goes clubbing, gets drunk and accepts the advances of women who snuggle up to them on the dance floor. Not long after, he is confronted by a group of men accusing him of molestation (or molest in local lingo). And because Mr Expat is too drunk to recall details, he chooses to compensate the woman rather than fight it out in court.

The Brave People of Libya
At least 104 people have been killed in Libya since anti-government protests erupted on Wednesday, the campaign group Human Rights Watch says.
It said the figure included at least 20 people who died when troops reportedly used heavy weapons in the second city, Benghazi, on Saturday.
The group said its estimates were conservative.
Thousands of people in the east of the country have been protesting against Col Muammar Gaddafi's 42-year rule.
Libya is one of several Arab countries to have experienced pro-democracy demonstrations since the fall of long-time Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in January. Egypt's Hosni Mubarak was forced from power on 11 February.
Reports are difficult to verify as Libyan authorities have not allowed foreign journalists into the country.
In Benghazi - the main focus of the unrest - violence escalated on Saturday, when a funeral procession for victims of previous violence made its way past a major security compound.
Witnesses said troops used machine-guns, mortars, large-calibre weapons, and even a missile, against the mourners.
Opposition supporters said the attack was unprovoked, although security sources suggested some protesters threw firebombs at the compound.
Some described scenes of chaos as army snipers shot from the roofs of buildings and demonstrators fought back against troops on the ground.
Bodies in the streets

Mid-East unrest: Libya

Gross national income per head: $12,020 (World Bank 2009)
Country profile: Libya
One doctor told the BBC that at least 45 bodies and 900 injured people had been brought to Benghazi's Jala hospital - most of them with gunshot wounds.
"Ninety percent of these gunshot wounds [were] mainly in the head, the neck, the chest, mainly in the heart," she said.
She added that she has been in contact with other Benghazi hospitals, which she says were overwhelmed by casualties and have not been able to count the dead.
She said some of the victims had been shot outside their homes by neighbourhood militias and bodies had been dumped on the streets of the city.
There are reports that Col Gaddafi's government is bringing in elite forces, as well as foreign mercenaries from sub-Saharan Africa.
Another Benghazi resident said the government compound was the only part of the town still under military control.
In an appeal sent to Reuters, a group of religious and clan leaders from across Libya urged "every Muslim, within the regime" or anyone helping it: "Do NOT kill your brothers and sisters, STOP the massacre NOW!"
There have been reports of anti-government protests in other eastern cities, including al-Bayda and Dernah, as well as Misrata further west, about 200km (125 miles) from the capital Tripoli.
There is no sign of major unrest in Tripoli, Col Gaddafi's main power base.

Story of a pilot who loved to fish
There was a pilot who did not know anything about prawning and catching fish and wanted me to teach him. He came day after day whenever he was not flying to the beach at east coast. He was fascinated at the huge prawns I caught as well as some fishes. He wanted me to teach him. I suggested he buy a boat. It didn't have to be an expensive boat I told him cos after all we had to keep the boat at the beach with no one to watch over it when we were not around.
I brought him to a place where they built wooden boat. He placed an order for a 22 footer wooden boat. He also bought a 20 horse power Johnson outboard motor. It was not a very powerful motor but we could cruise along at perhaps 30 kph which was good enough. We didn't have to go far out to the sea to get our catch. 5 kilometers away from the shore was good enough for a decent catch of prawns and fishes. I think the boat and motor cost about 4k in all. The amount was not a big sum compared to his salary of about 25k a month.
When his boat was delivered to him,we went out to sea. We started from a place near the Bedok jetty and cruise to Changi. I was the instructor and the pilot was my trainee. He learnt fast as steering a boat was peanut compared to the B747 which he was the commander. Anyhow, I had this good feeling about having a pilot as my trainee. From now let's call him Peter.
Peter learned how to fish using a hand line as well as casting the prawn net. He was very excited to learn this new trade or hobby as I would call it. I remember the first time he caught a huge 20 kilo stingray. He was so excited when the fish underneath the boat tugged at his bait and line. He frantically jumped up and stood at the side of the narrow boat ( about 1.5 meter in width)pulling his line. His action almost capsized the boat. We told him to calm down.( Joe,a Malay pawang or fishing expert was with us). It was kinda funny to witness a captain of a B747 getting so excited and almost caused a big accident over a stingray. I said it would be a big accident because the boat could have capsized and we could have been drowned ( we did not have any life jacket on board).
There was another occasion whereby Peter almost caused the boat we were in to sink by not plugging back the stopper (he was in charge of putting back the stopper as he was the one who steered the boat).
into the rear part of the boat after we came to a stop in the middle of the sea.
On a few occasions Peter threw his sinker into the sea without the fishing hook and bait (how to catch fishes like that?). He was really funny and we all had a good laugh.
I knew Peter because we worked for the same airline. He was a pilot and me a cabin crew. We are about the same age. He came to know about my fishing because I was, back then, very tan due to exposure to the sun. He asked me to teach him how to catch prawns and fish and I agreed.
When Peter started learning his new hobby from me, he was extremely nice to me. He would drive his Mercedes Benz to my place and together we would proceed to the beach. At first, he learned his new found hobby by using my boat. Later, he bought his own bigger boat. As Peter acquired more skills on prawning and fishing he began to boast to his colleagues and friends. He would often tell them he picked up the skills on his own and offered to teach them.
One morning,Peter sneaked out with Joe in his boat and came back with as many as 20 of the red snappers (above picture),each weighing about 7 to 8 kg. He gave Joe 1 fish and took 2 back after selling the rest to the fish mongers at Siglap market. On the second day, they came back with nothing in the boat but a pale faced Peter. I was told they were intercepted by the Indonesian customs for sneaking into the Indonesian water. Joe had to beg the Indonesian authority to let them go. They were let off with a stern warning not to intrude into Indonesian water again.
As Peter became more skillful,he started to be arrogant towards the poor fisher folks at the beach. They used to help him clean and care for his boat in exchange for some old torn fishing nets which Peter would have otherwise discard. Once Peter even demanded the torn nets be returned to him as some of these folks did not do a good job at cleaning his boat. He became cocky and insulted the fisher folks.I felt really bad as I was the one who brought Peter to their territory to fish and store his boat.
Not long after an argument with them, Peter took his boat to Puggol and anchored it there. He later on bought himself a half cabin cruiser and went out fishing with his own friends.
I have only met Peter a few times after the above incidence and we did not talk about the fishing days we had at the East Coast.

Psycho Passenger
A Passenger's story.
A friend and I were returning from western Canada to Ontario. My husband is a pilot so we were on family passes.
It was a large plane with two first class sections separated by curtains and 3 rows of seats consisting of 2 seats an aisle, 3 seats an aisle, and 2 seats. My friend Sam and I each had aisle seats and sat across from each other; me in the 2 seats and he in the 3 seats. The aisle separated us. Sam’s row was empty and my window seat was empty until the very last passenger boarded who sat next to me. He was a very nice man who said his name was “John.” He carried a small box with handles he’d made out of very sturdy tape. He was quite friendly to Sam and me and chatted away. Then suddenly he ignored Sam and would only speak to me. I had brought a package of nuts on board with me. I offered some to John. He took the package and handed it back to me empty saying “Thanks. That hit the spot.” I found this odd but not concerning, thinking that maybe he didn’t realize I was sharing, not giving.
I was reading a magazine and noticed he was looking as well. I then began asking him at each page if he was done. Suddenly he started telling me what I was to look at and for how long. At this point I was getting a little uneasy. He kept saying God works in mysterious ways. I asked why? He said you’ll see. He said we were meant to meet on that flight; I asked him why. He said you’ll see. Then he grabbed my hand and put it on the box. I was really scared by this time but stayed calm and kept looking to Sam for help. He was watching the movie. Now John is telling me to close my eyes, but at the same time he’s saying look at the bright blue sky and he’s telling me that everyone on the plane was in trouble except for the two of us. We were going to be okay. We were surrounded.
Now I’m quite scared and Sam finally looks over and asked if I’m okay. John said she’s fine. Sam went to get a flight attendant. Two came; a man and woman. They said the plane is empty and we’re moving people to 1st class. This was a lie. They said to John you stay, she’s moving. He said no, she’s with me. I’m not leaving her. They thought we really were together. They believed him. Sam and I said no he’s not. John said grab your stuff we’re moving. The attendants said no, you stay, she goes. I grabbed my stuff and went as quickly as I could to the closest first class section.
I felt a hand on my elbow and hoped it was Sam. I was too scared to look and didn’t turn around until I got to an empty row of seats. John had me. He said sit. I said no. Sam and the attendants rushed to us. There are passengers all around. John’s telling the attendants I’m his and that he’ll never let me go. He has me tighter. His strength and adrenaline were amazing. Five people are pulling him off of my left side and a man on my right is pulling me on the right. John is holding tight. Sam said land the plane! They finally get Sam down and cuff his hands. He’s silent with a dead cold stare. He seems to see and hear nothing.
I’m hysterical on the inside but trying hard to be calm on the outside. The attendant comes back from seeing the pilot who asked if he really needs to declare an emergency. I don’t care. I just want to go home. Sam says yes, she’s not flying another 2 hours with this guy. The pilot isn’t happy. He lands so quickly we have to wait for the plane to depressurize before opening the doors. The police come on board and remove John and interview me. The ground crew tracks down my husband who was in ground school and give me a bulky cell-like phone to speak to him. I’m in shock. All I can say is I’m fine. The pilot comes out and says you don’t now that guy? No I say. Never seen him. “Weird” he says and walks away.
The attendants are amazing though. They took amazing care of Sam and me and those who helped. The whole plane is shaken up though. Apparently John had found out his dad was ill and his family sent him away for a ski weekend. He never left the room. No one knows what was in the box. John, whose name was actually “Mark,” had been in a coma in the hospital for some time. He had snapped. They weren’t sure he was going to live. He never said a word about it again. He’s now on the do-not-fly list and had to pay for the landing and emergency services. There’s a 500 feet peace bond in place; he’s never allowed that close to me. It doesn’t matter though. I’d never seen him before and never will again.

Bridal gowns considered a security risk on flights?
By Alicia Wong – February 14th, 2011Email Facebook Twitter Print
A letter writer complains to Australian media about Singapore Airlines.
A couple travelling on Singapore Airlines (SIA) to Abu Dhabi to get married were apparently refused assistance with the wedding dress, according to a letter sent to Australian media.
According to the letter-writer, Robyn Lewis, mother of the bride, the couple contacted SIA before they left Australia to request for a small area to hang the dress, which was in a travel bag.
“My daughter was told it could be a security risk and was not given any hope of a place to hang the dress. At check-in and again on the plane they were refused any assistance with the dress,” she wrote in the letter.
She said, the dress was “small with no hoops and weighed almost nothing”.
“Consequently, the dress arrived in a poor state and required drycleaning to restore it to its pre-departure condition,” she said.
When contacted, SIA told AsiaOne it was unable to comment on the incident as it had not received any complaints. The airline urged the complainant to contact them and provide them with more details.

Japanese persimmons
Scientific name: Diospyros kaki
Origin: China or Japan
Varieties: Numerous, varying in size, shape and flavor, depending upon where they are grown.
Tree: height up to 6 m
Fruit: diameter: 6-12 cm
Season: October thru December, and most abundant during the month of November.
Persimmon is a deep orange, waxy fruit which is similar to a tomato in shape. This fruit gets its name from the Algonquin Indians who formerly lived along the St. Lawrence River of eastern Canada. Persimmon is native to China, and was introduced to Japan. The Japanese consider it their national fruit but it is more properly called Oriental rather than Japanese persimmon, since it is not native to Japan.
Persimmons which have dark-colored flesh are always sweet and non-astringent and should be eaten before they become too soft. Varieties with light-colored flesh have astringent taste until they soften. The astringent taste is due to the presence of a large amount of tannin, the same substance found in tea. As the fruit ripens and sweetens the tannin disappears. Ripening can take place just as well off the tree as on. It is advisable to remove the skin before eating the flesh which, too, is bright orange. The fruit has to be harvested with care, and not be allowed to ripen and fall from the tree, because this would bruise the very tender and soft fruit. The best way to remove the thin skin of this fruit is by placing it under running water while scraping off the skin.
Common Japanese Varieties found in the Market:
Hachiya is significantly larger (up to 3 inches in diameter) and heart-shaped. It is hard and bitter when unripe, but becomes soft, sweet, and juicy when ripe.
Fuyu is a smaller variety which looks like a tomato. It is smaller and is taste sweet without any bitterness and stays quite firm even when ripe.
Hachiya variety
Nutrient Value in per 1 pound:
Vitamin A: 10,080 I.U.
Ascorbic acid: 48 mg
Thiamine: .11 mg
Riboflavin: .08 mg
Niacin: .4 mg

Health Benefits of Persimmon:
It is use as a traditional Chinese remedy for hiccups. Take 9 grams of calyx of the persimmon fruit and 3 grams of fresh ginger. Add water and steam for a few minutes and eat.
Persimmon cake is also used as a traditional remedy for diarrhea, hemorrhoids, lung infections and asthma. To make persimmon cake: the fruit should be plucked when the skin starts turning yellow. Peel and discard the skin and place the fruit in the sun to dry, applying pressure frequently on each fruit to gradually flatten it. Continue drying the flattened fruit in the sun or in the open until a white frosting appears and covers the entire surface.
Astringent taste of persimmon can help stops diarrhea, reduces sweating, and slows or stops bleeding.
Persimmons can help prevent cancer because it is high in vitamin A.
It contain compounds known as shibuol and betulinic acid that are thought to have anti-cancer properties.
A study conducted in Japan showed that the peel of the persimmon contains phytochemicals known as proanthocyanidins which may protect cells against oxidative damage associated with aging.

Airbus A380 Arctic Takeoff
This Airbus A380 was in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada in February 2007 for cold weather testing.
Iqaluit was founded in 1942 as an American airbase, geographically located to provide a stop-over and refueling site for short range fighter aircraft being ferried across the Atlantic to support the war effort in Europe. Iqaluit's first permanent inhabitant was Nakasuk, an Inuk guide who helped American Air Force planners to choose a site with a large flat area suitable for a landing strip. Long regarded as a campsite and fishing spot by the Inuit, the place chosen had traditionally been named Iqaluit – "place of many fish" in Inuktitut – but Canadian and American authorities named it Frobisher Bay, after the name of the body of water it abuts.
The Hudson's Bay Company moved its south Baffin operations to the neighbouring valley of Niaqunngut, officially called Apex, in 1949 to take advantage of the airfield. The population of Frobisher Bay increased rapidly during the construction of the Distant Early Warning Line (DEW line, a system of radar stations, see North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD)) in the mid-1950s. Hundreds of construction workers, military personnel, and administrative staff moved into the community, and several hundred Inuit followed to take advantage of the access to medical care and jobs the base provided. In 1957, 489 of the town's 1,200 residents were reported to be Inuit. After 1959, the Canadian government established permanent services at Frobisher Bay, including full-time doctors, a school and social services. The Inuit population grew rapidly in response, as the government encouraged Inuit to settle permanently in communities with government services.
The American military left Iqaluit in 1963, as intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) diminished the strategic value of the DEW line and Arctic airbases, but Frobisher Bay remained the government's administrative and logistical centre for much of the eastern Arctic. In 1964, the first elections were held for a community council, and in 1979 for the first mayor. The founding of the Gordon Robertson Educational Centre, now Inuksuk High School, in the early 1970s at Iqaluit confirmed the government's commitment to the community as an administrative centre. At the time of its founding, it was the sole high school operating in more than one-seventh of Canadian territory.
Average January temperatures range from about −40 to 0 °C (−40 to +32 °F), and winter temperatures can drop below −50 °C (−58 °F) over large parts of the Iqaluit. Average July temperatures range from about −10 to +10 °C (14 to 50 °F), with some land areas occasionally exceeding 30 °C (86 °F) in summer.

How much turbulence can a plane take before it breaks apart?
Well, the airline industry ensures that before a plane is certified for passenger carrying, it must pass the stress test. For instance, at the planning and development stage of the Boeing 777, the wings were thoroughly tested to see if it could survive the strongest force that turbulence and bad handling could produce in the air or when landing. During the test, the engineers wanted to see if the plane could take up to 150 percent of the strongest force that it could meet in flight before it broke up. They stressed the wings in a test rig and it only broke after it had bent 24 feet!
This goes to show that the structure of the plane is incredibly strong. That’s why the body of the Boeing 777 that crashed at the London Heathrow airport in 2008 was reasonably intact after it had touched down short of the runway even with the landing gears totally collapsed.
In the recent development of the Boeing 787 (the debute was last week), the launching of this latest plane was delayed for two years because of structural integrity. So, as you can see, the airline industry ensures that the planes must be structurally very sound before you could get to fly in them.
Generally, turbulence is categorized into ‘Light’, ‘Moderate’ and ‘Severe’.
Light Turbulence: With this, occupants in a plane may feel a slight strain against the seat belts or shoulder straps. Unsecured objects may be displaced slightly. Food service may be conducted and little or no difficulty is encountered in walking.
Moderate Turbulence: Here, the passengers may feel some definite strains against seat belts or shoulder straps. Unsecured objects are dislodged. Food service and walking are difficult.
Severe Turbulence: For this category, occupants are forced violently against seat belts or shoulder straps. Unsecured objects are tossed about. Food service and walking are impossible.

Is this a rumour or a fact?
I heard from an ex colleagues that a Eurasian ex IFS had passed away in Perth. I do not want to mention his name in case I was misinformed. Can someone confirm this please?
Clue : He was given the early retirement due to some offences he was alleged to have committed (sorry no prize for the right answer).

SIA shares down due to......
Within the last few weeks SIA share has been declining in value. It was at the high off $16ish and now $14.06 as I type. Why the decline huh? In my opinion, one of the reasons is the fine imposed on its cargo unit for price fixing. It also involves other major air carriers too,not just SIA.
I was told SIA could be fined hundreds of millions for the alleged offence.
This is a good time to pick up SIA shares when the big boys are selling off. Why you may ask me again?
Well SIA is a big and profitable company. It is by far the second biggest airline in the world by market capitalisation. Go for it even though it may use it's 2010 profit to pay the huge fine. After that, the profit for 2011 would be billions and the share would be around $18.
Disclaimer: Above is boh's personal opinion and you do not have to follow his advice. If he is so good at predicting the correct share prices he won't be idling at home and spending his time in front of his computer.

This is what a ground staff have to say about SPPS/PPS
Lately, there are more obnoxious SPPS (Superior Piority Piece of Shits) and sad to sad to say most are the UGLY S'porean! Demanding pax are challenging for us but rude, unreasonable and verbal abusive pax are a real arseholes from checking in, to the SKlounge, they were seen stuffing into their bags with beer, sandwiches, cup noodles etc except Haegan das icecream! If they did not get what they want they become verbally abusive even using a four letter words to us female staff. All I wish to say is that "Never, never be obnoxious with people handling your food!" We ground staff feels so sorry for the cabin crew as they have to kowtow to these arseholes for the duration of the flight.
So if you are a real PPS please do be gracious like some people with old money and have class. And do believe in Karma.

Having a mistress in China..............
This lesson is for all, especially those who are thinking about China
dolls...
A boss, in order to keep a mistress, bought a house in Shenzhen for
her to live in plus a monthly allowance of 5,000 yuan.
The house cost him about 500,000 yuan.He sold the
house this year for 3.2 million yuan, after he broke off from his
mistress.
A quick calculation:
After 5 years of a fling with the woman, he still had a nett gain of
2.4 million yuan.
When his wife found out about this, she was very mad and gave him a
big scolding: (scroll down)
Why the hell did you keep only one mistress!!

Story from a newbie stewardess who was molested by her captain.
Above was the Queensway Underground
This was the Bayswater Station, barely 200 meters from Queensway Station.
On my 3rd month of flying, I was rostered for my first London flight. On the way to London we nightstopped in Dubai and on the way back we flew non-stop LON/SIN.
I was hoping that this flight would turned out to be a good and memorable one.
All the other flights since my first solo were uneventful.
By now, I had learnt to cope quite well even under difficult circumstances.I must say that I adjusted to flying life easily. My colleagues and I could get along well. I had no problem in handling passengers too.
On my first day in London, I followed my crew to Queensway to eat the famous Hong Kong char siew duck rice. It was very yummy and I ate so much that I almost had to pay double share.
Then we bought 'dry stores' items like fruits, chocolates, biscuits etc and stocked them up in our rooms.
For those of you who are not crew, these so called 'dry stores' are a great help in the middle of the night when you get hungry and the hotel room service would cost a bomb.
It is still a universal practice of the airline crew to buy 'dry stores' whenever they stopped over at a station for more than a night.
Some even 'tar pow' (pack) 'bak kuah' (bbq pork slices) and 'bak chunk' (dumpling made of glutinous rice and pork or other kinds of meat) for their nightstops.
London was an expensive place and we had to be careful with our spending.
On the first night, just as I was preparing for bed, Captain AK (Alan Kang, not his real name though),who was also our commander on the way up from SIN,rang me up. He invited me over to his room for supper and drinks. He told me the first officer was also with him.
I politely refused the invitation but he was very persistent. The F/O also spoke to me on the phone and persuaded me to come over to capt AK's room.
Still, I refused and he hung up.
About 15 mins had passed since the phonecalls. Then there was a knock at my door. I peeped thru' the spy hole and saw that it was capt. AK. I asked him what he wanted and he asked me to open my door. I told him I needed to sleep but he kept knocking and it got louder each time.
In the end, I opened the door and he burst into my room.
He grabbed hold of me and kissed me on the mouth. I was shocked at such behavior especially coming from a commander.
Capt AK was in his 40's and he was short and ugly. He did not look like the refine type of commander, very 'ah peh' ( old man) I must say. I was not particulary fond of him but I gave him the respect as a capt.
The next thing I realised, he was taking off his pants and pinned me down on the bed. He was strong and it was difficult for me to push him away. He then grabbed hold of my blouse and pulled it apart, exposing my breast. He put his mouth and cupped my tits . I felt a burning sensation around my breast as he sucked it. It was an unpleasant experince and I nearly died. Then I suddenly felt a surge of strength came over me.
I struggled to free myself from his hold and in a reflexed action, I kicked him in his balls.
Capt. AK let out a loud cry and he clutched his balls.
Within the next second, he fell to the floor and became unconscious.
I panicked. Did I kill or hurt Capt. AK? Surely I will be sacked for harming a Capt., I told myself.
I called the F/O and he came over and revived the Capt.
He told me not to worry and should keep the incident to the three of us. He told me even if the Capt. was hurt, we should not tell anyone what had happened in my room. It might led to my dismissal for " assaulting" a "high ranking" crew.
All this time, Capt AK was holding his balls and didn't say a word.
After about half an hour, they left my room.
I couldn't sleep the whole night because I was afraid the matter would be leaked out and I might get the sack.
How naive I was at that time to believe the F/O and I kept the whole matter a secret for almost six months.
Hmmm...well all these unfortunate things happened because they came with the job, I was made to believe.

In Praise of Boh Tong
Allow me to sing some praises of Boh Tong.
Like the Rabbit its (Y)ear cocked long,
Tuning into Cabin Crew bedroom tales
And authored a book boasting much sales.
Fasten Your Seatbelts’ stories are hareraising
Funny, saucy – a book worth praising.
Truly, BT is a rare bit among the many crew;
Creatively his blog and book many fans he drew.
As the rabbit’s sensitive nose sniffing for stories;
Of some pure, but of some, bed hopping orgies.
All craftily penned in his book and blog,
Attracting readers, fans and the lot.
The Rabbit Year is your year.
You have not much to fear;
But like the albino rabbits white,
They always have weak eyesight.
So take care, your eye not to overstrain;
Prolonged blogging can your eye strain.
Carrots are excellent for the bunny’s diet,
To stay strong, healthy and regain good sight.
May I wish BT to continue to prosper in Health, Wealth and Happiness in the New Year.
