How did SIA cc fare in world airline survey?








Asiana Airlines was named winner of the World's Best Airline Cabin  Staff award at the 2011 World Airline Awards in a ceremony held at the Paris Air Show. 

The runners-up in this Best Airline Cabin Staff category are Malaysia Airlines, taking 2nd place in this category, ahead of Singapore Airlines.
Voted by over 18.8 million airline passengers from 100 different nationalities, the World Airline Awards™ are the most prestigious and respected quality recognition of front-line product and service standards across the world airline industry.

In 2010, SIA was voted as having the World's Best Cabin Staff followed by Malaysia and Asiana.
Anyone knows why SIA has slipped from number 1 in 2010 to 3rd place in the 2011 survey? Will like to hear from you.


BT: This is a very serious topic cos SIA may never be what it was in the yesteryears. 
In fact, SIA has been living in it's past glory of being the best airline in the world for many years. We knew it was coming when it got rid of the CCEs. Penny wise pound foolish so the saying goes. Now all those who had left SIA or made to leave has the last laugh.

perhaps SQ tix becoming too expensive so more people started flying Asiana and MH, didn't have the chance to take SQ and therefore didnt vote SQ?

Anyway I flew Emirates a few times.. their crew are very cosmopolitan but gotta admit SQ service (i.e SIA gals very hot :) though the guys are very courteous too) really top notch. Just too bad we lost out to the competition.

CC welfare is being neglected. They are punished for the slightest mistake by SIA. The union with Tony at the helm is feeble and dare not challenge the management on a lot of issues. I was a cc and had resigned a month ago due to the sickening situation.

heavy work load on board, lead to fatigue, company not appreciative and punished crew on small matter, no job security, so you tell me who gonna work hard for you?

ex-MH crew said, flying with MH, less money, but happy, and no worries even though company loss making still nv sake anyone. work load lesser cuz less things to offer, hence they do PR with passengers, talk a lot cuz they are FREE.

in contrast, in SQ, crew work like a cow! so many things to do. no time to do PR with passengers. flight like syd,mel,brisbane, not even have time to go toilet. so have to talk to passengers and get engagement with them?

food for thought, a good service means a good engagement with passengers, not give what ever passengers request then walk off .

I agree, I find the staff quite curt these days. I requested for something, and before I could ask for another, the waitress...oops the stewardess just scurried away.

I retired 3 years ago from SIA CC. At that time, I was sore. All my 34years of dedicated, faithful service decided by a 20 minute interview. VPCC said I didn't do well in the interview. What a joke!
That's why the passion and loyalty is just not there anymore. Maybe I ought to thank him. If my service had been extended,I would probably have suffered a heart attack or a stroke. My new employer
(Malaysian owners)pays me quite well, did not discriminate against me because of my age and treats me very well. After working for 6 months, I have been paid 13 mth pay, half month bonus, and a $100 ang pow for Chinese New Year.Anyway, Cong Xi Fa Cai to all.

major cab company in singapore raise fare by 20-30%, cc cab allowance increase by only sgd 7! years and years , pay getting lesser with all the inflation. compant still making money and still the world 2nd largets airlines by market value capitalization, bu their crew? getting less and less but work load getting more.

no surprise to see SQ keep falling.

$7 is the increase for MRT which increase in October. Pilots had $4 increase for taxi for one round trip.

pilots gets $ 30 increase and cabin crew gets $7.tony sim must eat shit cannot do simple things....alan tan would not have agreed to the disparity and not signed any agreement.ffffuuuccckkk uuuuppp union.

I tot the calculation was based on the 2009 CA that Alan signed? It was clearly stated on the SIASU website. Maybe there is a mistake. Anyone care to clarify?

The web site simply state the old formula from 2009 and pushes the blame to the old union. Lets see what the present union can do in the new CA. I expect a better increment with back pay.

Before taxi increse, pilots get $35 per round trip. Cabin crew get $270/month.If you do your maths its 7.7 round trip. From union website its 6.9 trips, so cabincrew should get $241.50.Hwever,Cabin crew then make $28.50 more than pilots.
After increase, pilots get $39 per round trip. Cabin crew get $277/month. You do your maths.

this old formula is passed on from edie chiew and company and he still has dogs like vermom,ssoo sann...etc in this present union.if this union is so good and sharp they can throw out the formula and have a new one in the new CA.lets see what they can do they just simply puss the blame on the old union.but then again do we have a union right now????

simply put it this way when the union is weak and not sharp management can bulldozed whatever they want.choice what choice no choice nothing heard from choice.thats the reason why crew are leaving conditions in cabin crew is harsh everybody dont care and let standards drop.junior writing in senior and hitting them on UFS which was agreed donkey years ago by eddie chew.most seniors dont care anymore.

ufs is crucial as some so called seniors crew really ridiculous.

the so called seniors crew, doesnt helpful at all. but only open mouth and ask junior crew to get their things done. they are just a liability to the set of crew and become a burden to anyone onboard. hands off too long dont even clear where the equipment stow at which compartment. during service, just stand there and get order from passengers, pass to junior crew to fix, while they standing there relax and drink coffee.

this is new era where all employee should hv the equality at work, why junior crew must endure to the lazy senior crew. if u are incapable to work , plz leave or get ur low score UFS. fair enough.

to senior crew, if u are good, u will should not be bother by UFS. u certainly will get good comments.

Continue the UFS, we are already #3 now, see how low can CC rating goes to...

No Team flying = No monitoring of crew
No Union = No Moral
No Good Management = No motivation
No good income = No care attitude
No compassion for crew = No loyalty towards Company
No respect for senior crew = No knowledge pass down

What are the score now?
Want to climb back up the ladder? Correct the above first. No campaign or just talk can ever reverse the rot which had been taking roots since many years ago. Don't see things turning positive in the near future.

Cabin crew do more flats then tech crew yet $7 increase in transport. Salah blame old union. This union is crap.so pilots take premium taxi n cabin crew take transport lorry. Shame on all of u... Only excuses. When tech crew n cabin crew lma was different u guys scream like cats n now u doing the same....
Sq drop in standing is because of UFS. do not blame the old senior crew as most have left the airlines. It's the wimpy juniors who do not want to work and just hide in galley , no pr and complain non stop.. Job knowledge from bad to worse. So when Cs or Ifs or now soon even Ls/Lss correct them sure your UFS drop... We now work to make junior happy.
Scrap UFS and confirm ratings will go up and complex leaders can do their job.
As someone said we have lost our edge and now want to follow trends set by Garuda etc...

You must undertsand that UFS is here to stay.

Co dont want to spend money on sending CCE on board to check IFS.. IA cannot do the check becos problem with same rank.. ( staff grade sama sama... how to check?)

So.. the next best kiam kannah thing to do is to embrace 360degree concept from USA..

Anyway.. all the CCE dont have sufficient on board experience to check.. so many lobang for IFS to 'siem'.

Management is obssesed with cost.. any cost.. and are blinded by it. So.. just wayang with the crew.. "tong cheng!" here... "tong cheng!" there.

Wayang with the union also.. what have you got to lose? ( already lost the back side!)

Save enough $$
Retire in style

no point doing extra, just finish your work and go home.
your pay is not gonna increase anyway, it's only getting lower.
Co will tell you if you not happy "QUIT loh" there are many other foreigners who are willing to do your work..
i'm not surprised soon there will be PRC GS. As for our union, dun bother complaining, PAP controls NTUC, the union is just for show only, come 10-20yrs down the road, dun even need union at all coz all the guys are on contract, better start cancelling your membership and use the $ for other better use.
Being a cabin crew is just a JOB, only idiots think that it is a CAREER...lol
10yrs still a GS or FSS.. what a joke..

Agreed. Well-said. Just do minimum & stay clear of trouble. Junior crew rules!! Service standard did not drop. It follows the junior crew standard. If follow the standard set by senior crew, the junior crew cannot manage. So service standard got to tailor to junior crew capability who anyway will not stay long.

SQ never values loyalty, its a thing of the past, they are only interested in profits for the shareholders. Just do the minimum, stay out of trouble, in 2-3yrs time, enuff shit i quit liao.. senior crew got no choice, gotta stay for life and take shit from SQ, only know how to complain, quit and find a job outside lah.
in fact many senior crew have left in the past few mths, more to come..

Garuda and all other airlines use to follow SQ. SQ was the trendsetter. Now it is the reverse. SQ following other airlines. Why?? Because the middle management has no creative ideas. Only tong cheng here and there. If standard drop, just whack the senior crew. Very easy what!! Just blame the senior crew. Work is done.

Use to pic up SQ shares in the 80s at $4.80.
Dump them all at $14.20 in 2005.
When IR was approved pic up Genting at 0.42 cents. Dump all of it made 200%.
Pic up Keppel Corp early 2008 at $9.80. Sold at $12.30
Dont be greedy as long as u make a profit time to sell.

Study the market carefully!

Stay clear of airline stocks.

If you can hold just keep it.

If the CA expired, then when are we signing the new CA? So currently, which rules is company following to pay us? ie, LMA, transport and hotel choice.

i am from silkair. and at least there is increase of $7 in SQ. in silkair, NONE! all these years transport fares keep increasing, but our transport allowance has never increase. your flight got delayed, you come back after 12am, your problem. train/bus service has finished, either you take cab or you walk home, you choose! i heard SQ even got cab coupons to claim for transport.


in SQ, there's even makeup allowance. in silkair, none. just when you complain about the welfare in SQ, please look into silkair. it's really very horrible.

CC are just just digit to the company. CC told to showed empathy/compassion to our customers but who show empathy/compassion to CC. No one... Learned from a frequent flyer, if you complaint to the higher authorities, you will get vouchers or gifts as a recovery service and poor CC,reprimanded for no reason even though got shouted/swear from passengers. Where's the humanity...
