Who's to blame...?

In my earlier posting I talked about SQ cabin crew slipping to no. 3 in the Skytrax ranking of "Best Cabin Crew" category for 2011.
I have put up a poll on the right hand sidebar of this blog asking the readers to indicate what are their thoughts on this issue and who's responsible of the decline.
Up till now, majority think that management and the union are the main culprits ( 18% and 14% respectively) followed by the "attitude of the crew" (7%). A good 50% is of the opinion that management, union and crew are equally to blame.
I am with the 50% group. ( as at 11:50am 12 Feb 2012)
What's your take huh?

I disagree. No one is to be blame. The change in culture/KPIs are to be faulted. It is a systemic failure. Everyone is trying to do their jobs to the best of their abilities and surpass expectations. No one care for each other anymore. It is all about protecting my own backside culture. Everything if just a facade - a front.

Morale of the crew has got to do with management and union, juniors resigning, seniors cant even motivate themselves.Union not addressing crew issues, management just bulldozed anything they want, without considering the feelings of the crew. Not only crew operating pattern bad, nightstop cut to the minimun, crew operating 04 hkg in one roster, lots of courses to do at home during their limited off days(ISAP,threat and error management, etc)overseas crew not happy because hotel all downgraded.meal allowances cut,CP high handed issuing demerit pts whenever crew make mistakes, more work on board,CGK,giving headsets, not giving additional crew when is agreed upon,A330 only 10 crew so many variable crewing flight,Ist now 10 crew, how can cabin crew accept all this at one go.

Malaysian Airlines operates with 12 crew for A330,Emirates operates with 25 crew on A380,SQ operates 10 on A330,23 crew on A380,how to compare with them.Look at the amt of rubbish that is out in the waves(infor),towels must be hot, serving tech crew meal etc,all this are basic that the crew must know, how many flights is the towels not hot,how many flights do we have problems with tech crew over their meals.Address issues that the crew are facing, tell them that their problems is being addressed, rosters, child care leave, etc, management want the crew to do their best,so too must the office whenever the crew have problems, deal with it with a heart, dont treat us like digits.

who cares about you?

Its the product that matters
Not the process!

Do you care about how coffee is brewed?
Do you care if tech crew trays have cutlery?

No body cares!!
Who has time to care?
so busy...focus on producing ignoring the P R O C E S S

Mgmt focus on results never the
P R O C E S S
Everyone is guilty before having a process to determine guilt.. if its done, its just "go thru the motion lah!"

Soon we will drive ourselves into the ground..a bunch of ignoramus.

Thank you.

Things have gone too far down the drain. It'll only get worse. Its has been going downhill ever since the mid 80's. No hope only suffering.

We hoping for additional years to fly......it' s so hopeless now......the blame is on Choice........are they a better choice....definitely the wrong CHOICE

Anonymous said...

dont blame choice. tony & his team is trying their best. blame the crew for the high expectations they have on tony & his choice. anyway, they have been elected unanimously by the crew and let them do their job. whether the crew had elected them rightly or wrongly, all have to accept. let them finish their term. if they cannot deliver all their 18 promises, then boot them out in the next election. in the meantime, got to give them support for them to do a good job.

Dont blame choice then blame who, they are the ones that promised us so many things in the election. Not one of their promises delivered,we have given them our votes, how much time they need before we say enough is enough. They have the time to fight among themselves and no time to help us.Have time to attend management function,no time to meet us,the last meet the members was feb,2011,toni promised to meet us few mths later, his few mths is 01 yr.I regreted voting this group of ppl,boh tong you are right,we deserved it.

High expectation my foot, asking for the same transport as the pilots is it too much, asking for the same off days after yellow fever jab like the pilots is it too much. This are basic thats is given to the pilots, all this not address and the have the cheeks to face the crew.Dont asked me to join ALPAS because we pay union fees to SIASU not ALPAS.

The problem crew face today is the company's introducing some many harsh directives.morale is affected so crew no longer willing to work.with a non existence and weak union crew are aware that more harsh measures would be introduced.so many are leaving as they saw no future.I have just resigned as a union member.I am also leaving in July so don't expect me to do turnaround flights.
