She felt humiliated at SIA cabin crew interview but not anymore....Boh Tong

Read this first pertaining to the above topic otherwise you may not know the "head & tail" of the whole story.

The girl who emailed me that article even wrote to the press but was not published. She emailed her complaint to the cabin crew SVP and upon investigation, the SVP replied to her.." the interviewer has been removed from conducting future interview".

The alleged victim (the candidate) then contacted me and asked that I coach her because "die die" she wanted to be an SIA stewardess. Due to her plight, I gave her a 50% discount off the fee. After the coaching, She went for the interview and to her and my delight, she passed her all her 5 rounds of interviews.
Today, she is flying with SIA and intend to keep flying for another few more years.

Hi Luke, what is the maximum age for CC wannabes for males?

Boh Tong said...

Not officially stated but one should not be older than 30

Hi Luke. What is the age limit for CC wannabes for males? Also, I have read another blog entry from another CC wannabe that she kena backstabbed during the interview stage where a partner has to introduce the other person for them. The backstabber got in while she did not. Will you be teaching your students how to deal with situations like that?

This is the blog I was talking about. Thanks!

Thanks for the link. That girl was rejected because of her age. She is photogenic I think but seeing her in person may be a different story. I have personally tried to help candidates who were around her age but most of the time got veto-ed.I do not think she was sabo-ed.
Yes I do advise my participants what to do if someone sabo them (unlikely though). At my Talks, I also teach my participants strategy on how to deal with nasty or bored interviewers.

Another thing is that the interviewers would NEVER explain or tell the reason/s why a candidate failed his/her interview. It is a company policy till today.

Thanks for your reply! I'll be seeing you this Sunday, looking forward to your talks!

Seeing me this Sunday?? Have you paid?

Yes I have, but I did so without first checking with you the maximum age for interviewees, but I am safely a "couple" of years below 30, so I hope it should be fine?

Hi Luke, I received a rejection letter from SIA w/o being told why. They didnt even ask me to go for a 2nd medical check up. How to know if I'm being blacklisted? Should I try again for the next interview?

Boh Tong said...

My personal opinion is that you failed because of your medical. They don't have to ask you to go for 2nd medical check if they are of the opinion that it will be a waste of time.
As to you other question, it's all up to you whether to attend another interview or not.

I dun have any medical problem, thats why I'm puzzled. Yes I wanna try again. I heard that if you keep getting booted out at 1st round after that, it means you are blacklisted. Is that true?

Boh Tong said...

No that's not true.

I see, thanks. I will try again and hopefully be able to get through everything again but I'm not sure whats the problem with medicals.
