"Food for thought"...contribution by a reader

One of the causes of SQ cabin crew slipping to the fifth position in world ranking may be attributed to the people in the office and training department. These people are out of touch with reality. They do not understand the aspirations and expectation of the young crew. Most come from middle and upper middle class families. If management is punitive in its approach (it used to work with the older generation of crew)these young crew would simply quit. They are not in dire need of the job. They are here for the fun of flying. Worst still if they prefer to stay for a while longer because they can do a lot of damage to the good name of cabin crew.
Management must change its tactics in dealing with the crew. People in the office like "Frog-eyed-C","Botak", "Lesbian", "Bapok", "Grumbler" and many others must be given the boot. Cabin crew division must get new and capable people to run the show or SIA will slip further downwards in the years to come. How pathetic!

I agree with the above comments. If the management treat the young staff with respect with the aim of grooming them, the young staff will be happy and give their best. They be more motivated for sure.

Today is the last working day of her life with cc,after serving 40 years. Good her working contract is not extended. CC must rid itself of these old dinosaurs.

There are some middle echelon crews who are extremely bad attitude and set bad working culture among the crew also. They are late 30s to mid 40s. How to rid them??? These are the spoilers of the game!!!

The founder of the Marriott Hotel chain started out running a hot dog stand. JW Marriott did not have much education and had to learn the ropes from scratch. He placed top priority on all his employees and emphasised that the more you value your employees, the more they will stay, and that's what the Marriott Family wsnts of them: to work with them for as long as they are happy. This is a stark contrast to the dinosaurs who spend their time hooked onto their email, working in fear of losing their jobs and doing the same chores day in and out with nothing in store for them. CCK once used the term " DEAD WOOD."

The best thing to do is to forget about them... they cant stay in CC beyond 2024, and they cant live forever... the clock is ticking.

Let time erode their lives away... just sit back and watch.

These buggers i.e. frog eyes, lesbian, bapok etc, will only know their true worth when they leave CC. Lets see what happens thereafter. Watch this space.....

Came across a recent report in a magazine that Turkish Airways had been voted Europe's top airline for 2013. Can anyone believe this..but it's true! The winning page featured a coloured photograph of an inflight chef in his tall hat, a matured stewardess looking ripe and approachable as well as the aircraft interior.

This would have been taboo years ago. For those with the memories, we used to have in our promotions Hugos in the Air and the elaborate menu from the Sheraton Li Bai Restaurant. On these sectors, we carried the respective chefs who served our First Class paxs.

If that is not good enough, the Emirates A380 has a business lounge/bar in the Upper Deck. Remember our first series of our B747 when we had our lounge upstairs? Other airlines are prospering from our ideas that we pioneered decades ago and are now reaping their rewards.
