Straits Times on "Turbulence In SIA Cabin Crew Union"





The above article appeared on ST Home page B2 (21/6/14). To many of us this is nothing new. The infighting has been going on for the last 3 years. Now it is the cabin crew who suffers when such disunity is present in the very union whom they voted into power with a huge majority in 2010.

I wonder if its the same person writing all these comments. Since you have already have 3 years of agony, what is 1 year more? After all, it was Alan who agreed to change the constitution to 4 years.

Yes, you are right that Tony does not have the mandate but that doesnt but SIASU EXCO does. Unless you want some outsider under than Cabin crew to run Cabin crew branch, let Tony and his team finish the job. After all, its Vernon who ask his ppl to leave with him. Ppl leaving the committee had happened to Alan or Eddie, so what is new?

Ben? I think you should compare Ben with Alan instead.

Remember:
Alan signed off the hotel budget with a one time $500 to the crew so he can change per diem to tech crew hotel menu price.

Alan never sign 2009 SI

He gave up privilege travel for all crew joined after 2009.

He agreed to UFS for IFS and CS.

He agreed 72R pax to crew ratio in YCL.

He agree to 330 top up based on STANDBY numbers.

So with all these history in place, what do you want Tony to argue on? So long you give away, dun expect to ask it back.

Unless you have PROVE about what Tony has given away and just hear say.

If Alan dare to stand, I will mock him personally because he ever say that "HE WILL NEVER STAND AGAIN". What kinda Man is he to go back on his words??

I invite you to come to go back to STC HRSS next week. We can ask VP HRSS to bring all the documents out and see who is right. How about that?

I realised you like to give people names as dogs. Well, at least I can read, write and behave. Unlike dogs that bark at the end of the chain but not able to do anything.

Alan Tan sold out Cabin Crew Division wholesale.....without a doubt. Just ask yourself this very pertinent question......who is the most successful SVP in SIA Cabin Crew History? Successful as in made obscene $$$ based on their KPI........those who don't know.....ask around......

The fact is that Alan is the cause for the pathetic LMA that CC is getting by giving away the hotel. All CC was misled by him thinking that the hotel savings will be shared yearly.He was also the one who said that IRAS will tax CC on LMA and try to lead CC to believe in his theory of recalculating the LMA.Till today, Alan has never explained how he came up with the story of IRAS taxation.Alan has done enough harm to CC during his term. I can't imagine voting for one who kept badmouthing his own mentor when he speaks. He has also spoke about not standing for election but I believed he will. The usual "the team needs me" will be his be his best excuse.If not, he will be made an adviser..
As for Tony, nothing was being fought during his term as he was busy trying to secure his "throne''. He gave up the CC crew meal that the union took many years to fight for. Are CC better off having the meal for JCL?? Many of us are aware of the dire straits that CC is in. Stop biting and fighting among CC..It is the management who will have the last laugh.No matter who you vote or who wins. As long as there is no harmony among CC, we are ultimately the loser...

Crew are selected for their compliance
Crew are mostly females who will retire
Crew are also not joining union
Crew are basically selfish and protect their own income or promotion

Union was created during the past
Union has no teeth after SATU died
Union now is just for show and for management to spar and practice politics
Union is a tool for management to observe and give themselves a good laugh

Honestly, you think management takes the union seriously? ha! ha! ha!.

Exactly,when things go wrong,blame the rest,but not himself.Why don't you,tony, put the blame on the last committee for removing London stdby.03days London,03days Milan,03days ADL,with stdby in ADL,MALE deadhead,112 off days reduced to 110days,penalty payment from 80hrs,1 and half times,increased to 85hrs,crew meal given to RCL to choose first,crew eat leftover in oven,etc.Crew voted you in to help us not vote you in to blame others.

Lets pray that we don't have to pay back LMA,and also pray that pilots don't sell us out in their negotiations on LMA.Cannot understand why the review of menu cards and currencies need to be neogotiated when the menu cards pricing and currencies are fixed,unless the pilots are trading off for something else at cabin crew expenses.Becareful tony,its better we do our own menu and currencies review.

Stating facts are different from blaming. Unless you cannot accept what is factual.

When you work in PCL, do you send down choices to your crew in JCL? Now all crew in has a JCL meal and not scrapes from a tray. When meal was catered in YCL, what choices does the crew have? Meals are already heated before start of service.

ADL standby? Where is the prove? MLE deadhead with 2.5 times and 2 days off is worth a complaint? IFS gets $645 IFA for MLE DH COP worth complaining too?

Unless you prefer to work less and more off days. Then dun expect to complain lower pay. After all, your allowances is based on your working hours and not your off days.

Crew has themselves to blame for the crew meal issue.When the past union fought so hard for crew to reserve their choice of meals ,most of the crew still gave up their choice or prefer to pick after passengers..No one can stop you if you choose to heat your own meal but most chose to heat it with the rest. Now, things aren't better as you have to wait for JCL pax to choose ,then you get your meals.Many a times, you get the least preferred choice by the time JCL send down the meals .How often do JCL end faster than EYCL?How often do you get all 3 choices? Is it better ?? No matter what, some crew will still give up what they are entitled to for pax even for tech crew at times.Who to blame? If you dont know how to take care of yourself in CC,no one will...

You are very self contradicting, first you say we work for money and that company saved $ on hotels and LMA. LAstly you add that only idiots will accept such deals. So what exactly you are asking for?

Why not ask your union reps or someone from management why they agree on this COP.

Maybe if Alan's idea of a flat rate by removing 2.5 times go through, you think you will get a better deal with Alan's suggestion? So what is the amount you think company will give for the flat rate?

$645 for MLE IFA? Not possible at all!

BTW, that flt is one of the most popular flts most CIC would want. I was roster on that flt and many came forward and ask me to COF.
