Divide and rule is management's motto.
Instigate the juniors to report the seniors and vice versa. Is that right Bohtong?

BT, not only he is not popular among many crew, his brother is no saint either.Probably they both think that they are high flyer in CC and no one can touch them.Don't forget that the higher you fly, the harder you fall! I always believe in karma in CC. What goes around comes around. If he is a kind soul, I doubt anyone will pass such uncalled for comments.
The management need not do anything now to "catch" crew ever since they have removed team flying. CC are now their ears and eyes in the sky..Regardless of rank, crew are out to outdo and kill one another.. If you fall into the category of the least popular crew, everyone will be out to catch you. It is a sad environment to work in now.. Some seniors still think that they can do anything they want as they have not met their match yet. It's no longer the sword that reigns now.. The mighty tool now is the keyboard and pen...

Well, I think he must be really unpopular lor.. If not, I don''t think anyone would be so happy about his downfall and pass so much uncalled for comments. He also has a brother in the airline and he is no saint either. I think both of them must be thinking that they are high flyers and knows ""people in the office" and no one can touch them. Don't forget that the higher you fly, the harder you fall. I believe in karma in CC.What goes around will come around...
The management has succeeded in removing team flying and need not try to "catch" CC .In fact, CC are their eyes and ears in the sky now. It is now a very sad environment to work in now. Everyone is out to outdo and kill one another.. Sadly, some seniors are still living in their own world thinking that they can do whatever they want onboard..I have flown with an IFS J and CSS K and the IFS is really absurd. He practically covers his wife and place her in the most favorable work position although she is the most junior among her cohort.Although I can sense that most of the seniors are upset, they chose to remain silent about it as this couple are well known for making life difficult for crew onboard. Well, time will come and they will be punished and I bet many out there agrees with me. In CC, if you fall into the least popular category, it spreads like wild fire and everyone will be out to catch you.. Good luck!

The punishment is too harsh.

What was the offence?
Did the company suffer financial or material loss?

What is the purpose of punishment?
To remove dignity or to curtail the authority of the rank?

This is brought about by the belief that if you hang the chicken, the monkeys will behave.

If the employee has been contributing for the past years, would it be better to keep him/her as an asset?
Demoting will affect the morale of the demoted and also those who remain.

The result is a culture of fear.
Fear inhibits innovative action, and it is this attribute that the airline needs now.

Every airline has new shiny planes
Every airline has great menus
Every airline has video entertainment
Every airline is cutting fares

What makes the customer experience memorable....?

The employee.

Everyone makes mistakes
Would you, demote yourself when you make a mistake, Mr Director??

What is not harsh in your terms?

Would you condone that if he is your employee?

Would you condone cheating? Would you let your maid to steal stuff from you (send back to her hometown) and yet you would forgive her?

Everyone is an employee of the company and all of us live by the rules set by HR. As a CIC (with authority) and blatantly UG his partner inflight without the knowledge of the commander is as good as throwing the employee rule book out the door.

In our society (not just in SQ), no one is above the law. Unless you are telling me that you our PM can break every law and get away with it?

He should be lucky to keep his job and not get a sack.

Rem Henry who took our $ and went to jail? Should company demote him and forgive him too?

The company did suffer financial loss as a result of the upgrading - the fare difference between EY and business class.
Many years ago, a Capt. was asked to pay fare difference between EY and First Class because he insisted that the IFS upgrade co-pilot's wife.
