My opinion regarding the demotion of the IFS

In my opinion, the demotion of the ifs has dealt a great blow to the senior crew's morale. Not only that, the seniors would not be bold enough to do their job properly and honestly from now on. They would be afraid of repercussion from the junior crew if they were to correct or check them when they err in their work.
The overall service would inevitably drop and that's what most of us are concerned about.

I am not saying the co. should not punish the ifs but not to the extent of demoting him 2 rank down.
SIA cc should give the ifs some face like giving him a stern warning. Afterall this was the first time he ever upgrade anyone.

The union's appeal to the co. to reduce the punishment by demoting the ifs 1 rank down was rejected. The current union is powerless and the co. does not accord much respect to it. How could one respect a union whereby almost half of its committee members resigned due to infighting?

During my time as a unionist representing cc, I did not allow any of my members to be humiliated like ifs Moon. I've never lost a single case in my defence for my members. Just to quote a few cases whereby I have saved my members were: the case of  Naked Lady in Taipei, the London Bakery case, the chief steward Wong's case. In Wong's case, he delayed a flight for  20 minutes attending to his family members who were almost off-loaded from his flight. Wong was given a letter of warning but not demoted. His case was far more serious than ifs Moon's case.

With the upcoming union election at the end of this year, cc would be voting for a new group of people capable of helping them (I hope so). The current group has been disappointing.

Who cares if the junior crew work or not? We senior crew should close both of our eyes to the poor performances as well as be nice to them. Let the service standard drop lower man!

BT's blog is relevant and addresses the issues correctly. This case was about an IFS who had upgraded his gf...not about allowing CC to occupy vacant PCL/JCL seats. Many years ago, we were allowed to occupy PCL seats on positioning. There is nothing for the Company to lose.

BT's comments are relevant and addresses the issues appropriately. This issue was about an IFS who had upgraded his gf and not about CC occupying vacant PCL/JCL seas. Many years ago, we were all allowed to be seated in PCL while on positioning. If this kind of high-handed attitude doe not stop, it won't belong before SQ will have file for bankruptcy.

Relax la.just do what m paid to do. Junior crew i dont even bother to guide them. They are all here on transit. The airline is not expanding. But there will always be recruitment to feel up the figures. Just take care of the senior crew. If the company does not take care the well being of the staff. Why should i bother so much about the service standard. Try to be strict and on the ball, in no time u will be stab from the back. Service standard drop. Let it be. As long as i get my pay. Thats all right.

BT: How you know his appeal was rejected? You sources from management inform you liao?

Back to the Naked lady and wong cases, where their circumstances same as Moon? If you are that good, how come you did not manage to succeed in your appealing for your retrenchment

Many years ago, the policeman wear shorts. Today its different. Try using the same method you did last time and do it today. Stop living in the glory past and wake up. If it irks you so much that things are bad today, leave the company and stop whining.

If Alan is that good, how come all his CI never succeed? If Alan is Moon's Union Chief, would he has escaped from been sacked? What is the point to blame the incumbent, who has managed to help keep Moon's job?

If you want to talk about hypocrisy, why Alan supporters and Alan's former mates appeal through SIASU to get their extention to 62? Since they preach so much about losing the $50K?

BT: My info is not from management. The Naked lady & Wong's case were 10 times more serious than Moon's case.
SIA did not retrench me. In fact long b4 the SARS period, I asked for early exit from cc, from the time mr thoeng and sim kay wee were in charge of cc. They were reluctant to release me.
Then when the SARS came I seized the chance to leave with 25 months salary plus other perks (thank u SIA). Hahaha only those colleagues of mine who needed the job back to screw you ppl.

Regarding whether it is wrong or right to upgrade fellow crew.

I want to raise a question - is that crew the only staff flying on that flight?

Were there any other staff flying on that flight, either for duty travel or personal holidays?

If there were, were they also upgraded?

If all are staff of the company, but the IFS upgraded one because he/she is a fellow cabin crew staff, then the action is not an innocent gesture for a fellow staff but an inter-divisional nepotism.

It takes a lot of people working together for the airline to run and for the flight to operate.

If the crew was upgraded because of favouring fellow cabin crew but not ground staff on the same flight, then it is not right.

Of course every staff hopes to get an upgrade, esp. from economy class on long flights.

I am aware that all staff have an upgrade code and an uplift code based on their position and length of service.

One can imagine how a ground staff on the same flight will feel if another staff got upgraded because of "nepotism" instead.

"Snowy Beagle" the ifs was not supposed to upgraded anyone one not even a revenue pax. He did it at his own risk and now is paying the price.

" On policeman wear shorts." I was merely stating a fact and not whining as alleged by the writer. Boarding passes were then issued by the SM. All crew concerned had to dress well with the stewards wearing a tie. The writer appears to be ignorant and if there is anyone who should leave the Company, this person should be the one to do so. What method the last time is this person referring to?

Well done BT for rebutting the writer who questioned you on the rejection of the Union's appeal on the IFS concerned. Doesn't sound like one who has proper manners in written correspondence. After reading your reply,I have a feeling that the writer concerned is going to keep quiet henceforth.

Not bad BT, reply to your own post and stay Anonymous.

Upgrade your spouse still can ask for clemency? FSS upgraded husband got sack leh! IFS upgraded the girlfriend deserves the sack too but he was lucky to be able to keep his rice bowl.
There's a çhinese saying :杀一儆百...
Now CC better wake up their idea. Not only FS,FSS can kill.LS,LSS,CS,CSS,IFS can also do the same..For each his own now. Who doesn't want to cover their own ass..
