Isn't there anything good about cabin crew?

There are tons of comments in this blog regarding cabin crew. Most are negative comments. I hardly find positive comments. Most comments were from cabin crew. They expressed frustrations with the management for not being proactive nor engaging. They also complained about the way things were handled by the middle management people in the office. There were no compassion nor empathy. They alleged that they were being punished for making small mistakes.

Then there were backstabbing going on between the junior and senior crew. One case involved an IFS who was reported by a stewardess for upgrading another crew to the business class. The IFS was subsequently demoted to a leading steward position. Another was a case of a new stewardess who was sacked for her work performance when she was consistently rated as above average by the senior operating crew.

A poll is being put up in this blog to find out whether they have faith in management. So far a good 72% indicated they do not have faith in the current management (see above). Granted the survey may not be very accurate as I can't stop non-cabin crew readers from participating in the polls.

Frankly, I seldom received good report from my source in cabin crew. If I had, I would have love to publish them. I really wish cabin crew would email me some good and positive news about their work environment or work condition etc......

I wished i had something Nice to say about CC but things are just too bad and crew are too demoralized. Take for my case of late..
I was given an appraisal by my leader and was told that I did well. However, when i received my appraisal, it was just too mediocre and I found that it had been happening of late and asked for an explanation from my leader.
I got a shock when he showed me an email from his IA that they will be inviting crew who gave appraisal that were more than 90% with general comments back to office to "lim kopi".Hence ,many leaders are just too afraid to cross that "line".Ironically, I had IAs who come onboard and gave appraisal with just a few comments that even a secondary school student can write and you expect Cc leaders to write you long stories when you are suppose to know what kind of calibre of crew that is under your wing?
Leaders are supposed to be moltivators and one way to moltivate a crew to do better is through good appraisal that recognize the hard work and efforts that you put in.However,it seems that CC IAs are singing a different tune by imposing a red tape and hoping that all CC just fall within the band that they wished to see..
Sometimes I really wonder what the management is trying to put across. The right hand pats you on the back while the left gave a big slap ....

Appraisals are done only to meet audit requirements... just like trying to maintain ISO900.

It is the KPI for the division.

How it was done... dont care
Who does it... dont care either
But, too high scores gives them a headache cos it screws up the promotion excercise...

All this means that fundermentals are not right.
