It's the fault of the airline to employ softy stewardesses

"I remember dragging my feet to work.
It got so bad to a point where I used to cry before going on flights. My batchgirl experienced this pre-flight blues too and I was quite comforted that I wasn't the only one. I cried because I dreaded going to work, I dreaded the work itself- the nonstop labour intensive work where you literally walk to London. Also I didn't want to be away from my family. It was quite bad I really hated this and asked myself why I wanted this job so badly in the first place. Like I said, you won't know what you're in for until you finally join this industry.
In this job, you'll miss out on birthdays, weddings, Christmas, Chinese New Years etc & it is very sad. In 2013 I spent Christmas Eve & day alone in the hotel room in New York & I felt so shitty." an ex-stewardess wrote in her blog.

Not everyone is cut out for the flying job. The money is good and there is some glamour attached to it. But overall, it is not that tough a job as described by the ex-stewardess.

I do not blame the poor girl for complaining so bitterly about her passengers, her seniors and the job itself. I put the blame squarely on the employers. The interviewers are to blame too. They are inexperienced and easily conned by such sweet talking good for  nothing girls. There are many deserving girls waiting eagerly to be employed but each time they were rejected at the interviews.

The airline deserves the bad publicity this former stewardess dished out to them.  There will be more, yes much more of these type of stories in the blogosphere from the cabin crew who eventually quit their jobs.

When I was an interviewer, after a handshake with the candidates I could tell whether these wannabes should be shortlisted for the job or not. If their hands are rough, it means they did a lot of housework and I would give them extra points. I would prefer taking girls from less well-off background. Serving people is not an easy job but as cabin crew we have to be strong  both physically and mentally.

Where in the world would a company pays you $4,000 to $5,000 a month and let you sulk or be rude to your passengers? Walk to London? What about the 3 hour rest in the crew bunks? What about the $1,500 in allowances paid for each flight to London and back? You walk to London but the moment you touch down you would hurriedly invade the Louis Vuitton or Prada shops to get your branded stuff. The $1.5k does not include your basic salary, transport and laundry allowances.

I can go on and on but I think the above will suffice. Like I've said earlier, I put the blame on the interviewers for selecting softies as our national carrier cabin crew.

She claimed she missed birthdays, Christmas bla, bla, bla and felt shitty about it. May I ask why in the first place apply for the job? Why don't she leave asap instead of dragging herself to work. Do passengers have to take these kind of nonsense? SIA better train your interviewers to do a better job or else reemploy people like Mr. Bohtong who can do a better job.
My 2 cents!

Don't blame the soldiers but blame the officer in charge. Therefore blame SIA for giving the undeserving bitch the job whose "gratitude" is to bite its hands.

i read her blog and enjoy it.
she's under 2years bond and cant escape for that.. she now the risk of being flight attendand and what she really complaint just about when she sick and provide MC or when her grandma in critical condition but the people from control center didnt even care still send her for long journey flight just to receive the news her grandma passed.
I think it's a normal think when you complaint about things in your job. At least they complaint somewhere but stay professional on their job.
And this girl never compare her job with NSF at all.. i dunno why such a low class article can be soread so fast without proof of the original content.

What is yellow colour? Why yellow colour? Who is yellow colour? What happened to yellow colour?

Hmm tbh I can't see why ppl can get "worked up" by her blog post. What she went thru was legit for her. There are many others who felt the same too but they chose to keep it to themselves. There are also many others who didnt think or feel like the way she did. Its just her personal opinion and experience so why judge her and call her "names" .

Expressing your frustration online about certain races should not be condone. She may express her feelings else but not online where the whole world will read about it. How do you fell if I were to say a certain race or religion is bad online? There is a law in Singapore prohibiting these types of irresponsible expressions.
We will see in the coming days when someone will report this matter to the police. Remember Amos Yee's case?

??? She didn't say anything about race/religion??? and she didn't even compare herself to anything related to ns/NSF lol. facepalmed

This is scary. Why are there ppl trying to distort facts.

Only people who were given a 2nd lease of Life and those who knows how to play the game well can last that loooong in CC

It is within the Company's jurisdiction to reject her letter of resignation and dismiss her instead. Tarnishing the image of SIA is a serious offence and a flagrant breach of Company Regulations.

She is a spoiled strawberry generation girl with overly protective parents who cry to get through her ways and blame other for being a softie herself.
Why is she complaining abt singaporean pax when she herself a singaporean is complaining now?

Errrr the "st times" one I got kena before also hahaha. And the control ppl ahhh really sibei rude leh. Aiya like what BT said not all are cut out to work as cc. But don't blame them la how the heck will they know the job until they experience it right? I think blame the ads and image of the sia gal lor so misleading make it so glam haha. Same like a relationship. Beginning udk a person that time he/she is like oh so angelic then slowly all the rainbow colours come out . To survive as a cc, one must be thick skin and "player" and know how to change face also. Cheers :)

And she's so nice and appreciative of the crew that she bought them stuff to eat when she had quitted and flewas an ordinary pax. So dont slam her la. I hope when we quit we will do the same too :p

"Is it the fault of the airline to hire these pansies" the answer is partialy yes. The airline is so blind from the fact they cant see and diff between a softy and someone who has the drive to be a Cc.
Here comes these so called wannabies who want to have a glamours life only to know reality gives them a slap to the face when they r on the job.
I would mainly blame these so called interviewers for hiring these poor jack ofs. A big fail in Sq's part.
