An increase of more than S$1,000 for a new crew?

SIA used to advertise the average take home salary of a new cabin crew as $3,500 but recently it said in its ads it should be about $4,500 to $5,000 per month, an increase of more than $1,000.
Is there a rise in their basic pay? As far as I know the location meal allowances have not gone up.

"Remuneration & Service Benefits

During training, you will receive a basic salary. Upon graduation and
commencement of duties, you will  be given various allowances, bringing
your monthly package to approximately SGD$4,500 -SGD$5,000,
depending on flight patterns and flying hours."

Perhaps SIA got the revised figure from my earlier post at http://www.bohtong.org/2013/03/sia-flight-attendantcabin-crew-salary.html

Good morning BT,
This only applies to the new cc being recruited from now on is it? any ideas why the airline would have made this change?

Jenie this amount is nothing new. I think SIA estimated lower take-home pay for the new cc and now has adjusted the figure. In my earlier post I had estimated a new cc would be getting about $4,567 and now SIA think I may be right. why would they wanna change this? i think to advertise as $3.5K or at most 4K is just nice.

sometimes the take home pay for certain months is less than 4K.

You know meaning of average? They never claim minimum take home pay per month. They say average. Average can also factor in 13th month and profit sharing. Hence total 1 year if hit 60k, average is 4.5k. It does not matter whether some month 7k or some month 2k. Its call average!

I agree it's nonsense. SIA is so in dire need of crew, asking people to give up leaves and asking for volunteers.. this is just to attract them. Then again, crew on probation always have good rosters. First few months, always doing 4 sectors.

This is the tactic and psychology used by mgt. Give those new crew good flts. Get them hooked. Then they start to buy this buy tat n get entangles in the 'lifestyle'. Slowly when these yound crew's market value start to dwindle, mgt will start giving them shit flts. By then, its too late to leave liao. All they can do is kpkb like the rest but they will never quit and go cos they know they have no more value outside and will stay on and lan lan depend on whatever handouts is dispense to them

If you are bright, cheerful, full of life and positive
the airline wants you.

But there are also lots of other employers who are looking
for those attributes too.
Each of us have gifts, personalities that are suitable
for many jobs... we just need to match them.

Airline flight attendants is just one.
Try looking elsewhere that can give you better opportunities
in career advancements. Not only shopping and travel. You can
do that with more enjoyment and less stress on your own vacation time.

A job that matches your natural attributes.. and pay you your worth.
and one that you can truly be happy & satisfied.
Dont end up being a round peg in a square!!

Florance, it is 3k if you have about 85 hours and above with no MC taken.
