Reader Sunny Gale's response to mun's "study hard" advice

Mum tried applying for cabin crew & couldn't qualify when young, so pretend to make such a comment.
In reality, cabin crew is a creme de la creme job. U will be able to appreciate it after u get the job, quit the job, work on ground, realised the mundane & monotony of grd job, then shit, is this life working on ground: work almost everyday & going through the process day in and day out till u leave the planet.

Crew, in reality, belongs to a elite & special group on planet Earth, bless with the opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest, as in the Lifestyle of the rich and famous.
You never get a job which can offer such fun & excitement, visit country u have never been before. If u have a good set of crew, wow, the shopping, pub hopping, tasting different brew of alcoholic concoction, relaxation in the comfort of your room snuggle under the nice & soft comforter of the bed in winter, and watching TV channels of the world. And if you have a steward/dess lover with you it really enriches your life in the room, hehe, what can I say, wow wee again.
Okay the trade-off ìs: Can u handle it - CC job is real demanding physically. You will learn what "Tired & shack" is all about after joining CC, just like what "Thirst" is in the Army during Basic training.
Remember physically and mentally challenging is the name of the job, so much so when the flight lands you can't wait to get to the hotel. Even in the bus, on way to hotel, u feel the strain. Once in your room, a total "shack and extreme tiredness" that you will feel in your well being hits u hard and sleep has never feels so so good as you lay down on your bed. And if a sweetheart is with you, strange enough you still have the power to make love to your darling even after flt , although very tired.
So not only can crew have lunch in Lon, JFK, Paris, but they can also romance around the world as well.
Let's get serious, ask yourself, r u willing to accept the extreme tiredness working as CC, but compensated by the wonderful lifestyles of the rich and famous, given the opportunity to enrich one's life and enjoy the wonders of different countries that comes with it.
My take is: Only one life on planet earth & no going back, miss the opportunity, u miss the golden chance to enrich your life before saying sayonara to the world.
Don't be a fool, all jobs big or small are mundane, what matters is can it enriches your life.
My recommendation: fly 5 yrs at least, but if you can get into an airline offer flying till retirement, then why not make it a career as it pays well, required to fly only 90+hrs/mth (4days added up/mth) hehe. The higher up in rank, the fun level goes up in this job. The crew in charge has the most enjoyment in this job, kkkk most of the time with fat pay for the job scope, which in reality is a simple job. A novice can learn to be a C in C in an hour if I tell you the gist of it , it is that easy, cause no one to override u.
So you realise, flying is easy job, with great fun, a holiday job actually, who don't want? Don't believe... quit flying if u r already in , then work on ground, u then will realised how stupid one can be, cause ground is no bed of roses. Ground job though not as demanding physically is meaningless.
Hey mum, you ain't know what you are missing telling your daughter to study hard, for what, to work in a mundane job?
Retired crew: most having fun as well, going all over SIN, to try the buffets in hotels, again still enriching their life, till we get to the next level to have buffets in heaven, hehehehe.
My take is : one only quit flying if u can make big bucks on ground, otherwise u r better off flying. So don't be a fool. Play it cool . Love the World.
So crew wannabes go for it, get Boh tong notes on cabin crew & go for the interview, try & try, no harm even if u don't succeed. This is life.

Say all these to make yourself feel good and salvage whatever little pride and integrity is left of a bloody waiter/ess.
Lj job, lj people.
Quit for 4 years and never been happier and never looked back or even mention I was once a crew to present friends and colleagues

Only useless and spineless people will think its a very good occupation. Just because 'it pays well for working very little and et to see the world and fxxk around.'
Honourable people do not think in this way. They work hard for ittle and contribute to society eg social workers, teachers, bus drivers etc. These occupations deserve much more respect than crew

Above comments came from mean and uncultured people. What is wrong being a flight attendant? Shame on you people!

The first two commenters are absolute retards. Please don't procreate. Just bring your idiocy to your grave with you. Why do waiters and waitresses have little honour, pride and integrity? Bringing food and drinks to people is very shameful? The first and most important role of cabin crew is to ensure your safety when retards like you fly to other countries. Serving food and drinks is the least of the concerns when an emergency happens. Perhaps cabin crew should let retards like you die first during an emergency since to you, they do not have honour, pride and integrity.

But I think the first comments came from ex-crew. Not some our grape outsider.

Wahaha. Crew aka waiter and waitresses working for the noble mission of 'safety and security' er.
Safety and security er.
Balls to you all lor

Well, what 'sunny' has written is all true.
Yes, its a'high level' waiter/tress job... no doubt about it.
But it pays much better, because there are other areas that
the employer has to compensate for:

No weekend off
No public holidays off
Exclusive service to the employer ( no moonlighting as Uber driver, without consent)

So, your pay is higher than the waiter/tress on the ground.
You also have to book your annual leave 12 months ahead! ( ok, ok, maybe 6 months )

But you get to sleep in hotels that you or your mother would find it difficult to pay for EVERY TIME YOU TRAVEL.
You get to see what other cities are like, even if its just 24 hours.
Business people have to attend meetings...and official dinners.. no time for
musicals, museums, shopping, pubs, parks.

And get to experience 4 seasons.
Of course it also means polluted air in BJS/SHA/HKG/DEL/BOM
but your stays in these cities are very short.... 12hours (?.. or less!)

Have your travelled the subways in DME ( Moscow )??
Awesome architecture!..
Have you walked along the esplanade on Kowloon side enjoying the view?

All these possible only as a crew... no other job gives you this chance.
Business people do not have the time and tour agencies will not allow you
enough time to wander around... chop! chop!... back on the bus!

Fly... enjoy but know when to call it quits.
Becos in any job, it gets stale and you get caught in a political spiral
of promotion, jealousies, envy and laziness.
The day will surely come... be ready by learning alternate skills to earn a new living.

Thats when you have to leave... if you dont, you will make a mistake
and you will be forced to leave.

Retired, been there, done that crew.

MOST PEOPLE after quitting realised the critical mistake they made but is in no state of mind to admit it, so has to live with it. They will choose to keep quiet over it.
Whether it is bloody waitressing, spineless or not honourable, no respect, DONT be fool, hehe, it is still the COOLEST JOB in town.
So crew wannables go for it, this is good advice. Remember u must be able to accept the demand on you physically, and if you think you can, then Right On, go for it.

While in the area of airline crew, ONE QUESTION: CAN A MALE CREW BE A PLAYBOY WHILE FLYING.
Playboy in the airiine means having a few flight stewardess girlfriends at the same time.
Well evidently it is.................................................................
.........................................................................................
.........................................................................................
.........................................................................................
NOT POSSIBLE, HAHA. WHY?
Simple:
Case No 1: Airline steward makes headline in the newspaper when his 2 flight stewardess g/f
happens to go and wait for him upon his arrival home from flt without his knowledge. When the 2 girls met, it was explosive - as the song goes, you caught fooling with somebody....

Case No 2: When one Fss g/f comes to know that her crew boyfriend is also seeing another Fss, everything was exposed in Facebook.

Case No 3: One g/f changed flight to surprise Boyfriend to find he has the other g/f flying with him on the same flt also, oops.
SO you see, it is just not possible to be a playboy if you are a steward/tech crew.
Too much technicalities involved. The sms alone will put you in trouble, trying to hide one from another.
Flight stewardess, dont worry if your boyfriend is a flight steward/tech crew as you will find out in a relatively short time his 2 timing u, as there are many tell tales sign and oops.... do change flight, go airport to meet him without his knowledge upon his arrival back home and you are bound to discover his...........................
Boh tong is into CC interview and I am into CC Ambush.
Cheers and take care. Guys dont hate me cause it is simply not possible to be a playboy in the airline. Other job is possible though.
Also breaking up is rather emotional, lot of tears and crying come with it, so u realised not easy eh. Love the world.

I note that there are negative comments written about 2 or 3 cases which the writer is only aware of. There are thousands of stewards/stewardess in SIA and these 2 or 3 cases represent a very small percentage. Can anyone say with certainty that all other jobs do not have scandals? Fact is, the life of a steward or stewardess is not for everyone. We should not condemn or badmouth those who choose flying as a career.

Trouble is, after some years the ego shoots through the roof.

Crew have some privileges that others may be envious or create the illusion
that they are special:

-Dedicated check in at hotels
-Dedicated bus transfers to/from airports
-Dedicated customs and or immigration clearance
-Dedicated priority security checks
-Dedicated baggage handling
-Dedicated taxi service on return to base after midnight and before 6am
-Dedicated crew lounge in the hotel
-Privileges for senior ranks to enjoy access to executive floor facilities
-Airport duty free discounts

Sometimes even special deliveries from restaurants eager to earn crews' money
( and a chance for the delivery person to enjoy a close up view of SQ crew )

These perks create the illusion ( for both: crew & observers ) that crew are indeed
very special. And its difficult for crew to see it any other way... its a very cloistered life.
