I think the whole point of the IFS story is how he went an extra mile and exercised judgment + flexibility to delight the customer.

Why bring in all those what never follow SOPs, food poisoning, fire what if queue at Tiptop very long etc etc thing in? It is a possibility, but exaggerated to a certain extent. Did it happen in the end? No, it didn't. And if it did, then yes, IFS will have to face the consequences of his actions.

SQ is rigid enough, and I'm curious if these crew who keep complaining or making personal comments would really prefer for everything to follow STRICTLY following rules.

Anyway thanks BT for taking the time & effort to share these with us :) Gday to you.

why SQ ranking has been dropping in almost all areas?

Like I said yesterday, ratings are to be taken with a pinch of salt.
Skytrax isn't Moody's with their credit rating in the financial world.
The latter is more trustworthy.
If a male passenger wants the phone number of a pretty IFSS but she refuses,
he will remember that out of all the things he experienced for that flight
and this includes the exceptional service he had received.
People remember the bad more than the good.
So he will give a poor review or may complain
to SIA to get her into trouble.
