Cost cutting coming your way

Some of the changes coming your way soon:

  • No menu cards for economy class passengers
  • Withdraw of free whisky and brandy in the economy class. Passengers will have to pay US$15 for a small bottle
  • Reduction of Suites to 6 per A380 aircraft from December onwards
More cost reduction on the way.

Good for SQ. Let those poor pax who can only afford economy fly with other airlines if they want free alcohol. We don't need them and should just focus on Biz pax. This is what a capitalist society is about anyway. Who cares about lesser mortals? Finally the big bosses in SQ have woken up. Forget those in economy and try to get more to fly Biz.

"We used to operate Singapore Airlines to Athens,
with a full-service provision. But it wasn't economically
viable because there wasn't enough premium traffic.
There was a lot of leisure, and visits to friends and relatives,
so we dropped the route from Singapore Airlines,
and it will be operated by Scoot next year.
Scoot is more than 45% lower in terms of unit cost compared to
Singapore Airlines and can be profitable on that route."

Hedges of oil at 67 US ,now what price of oil ?Dig in deeper like new crew for old,CX done that, SQ will follow.Head of project will think deeper, and cut cost of all staff excluding himself.Maybe will not drag paid paxs out of AC but Crews will guaranteed booted out.MC tightened up but stop before Crews become sick, cannot another VY case.Gain of Middle East Airlines with subsidises.Pity the current Crews.

In the long term it is still best to try to attract more Business travellers.Leave those economy ones to our competitors.

One more thing, have those younger ugly inexperienced crew serve economy pax while the more experienced good looking crew serve sophisticated Business travellers.

Not bad. SQ started out by deploying mostly the senior crew to operate PCL service. Certainly not a bad idea to bring this back. EY is indeed a good start to have these youngsters suitably deployed for probation.
