Please la. Dont start a stir shit out of nothing. Dun use Edgar's case to ask for more pay or take out the compression part of SEP. The last round was to use the chiongster LSS death on SFO to ask for more layover and off days amd less work.If you dont like what is offered to you, just quit.
Why dont you guys bring to MOM about paying you guys manager's pay (7k a mth) for doing a waiter's job? You are a nobody and yet keep ask for more pay and more rest? Be grateful for what you have. SEP multiple choice questions and go through motion drills and you call stress?
Based on the whiner's logic. Security guards are not paid police man's pay even though they know some basic laws. Nurses are not paid medical specialist pay even though they also know some medical stuff. So should bring to MOM?
Maybe management should look into more manual work for cabin crew to make them work harder and work their heart more. Or cut their allowances so they dont indulge so much on food. Maybe ban them from pcl and jcl food so they are healthier?
I think management is right in their reluctance to extend beyond 55 years old as many cases had proven so.If you guys cant handle stress or whatsover, its probably due to your old age and poor health. To avoid all these blame game and demanding more pay less work, management should consider stop extending crew beyond 50 in consideration of taking care of their well being.
While the management try their best to ensure they hire only healthy people, many years after joining the company, that same person they hired is no longer in good shape. That's why the safest thing for the management to do is to frequently check the health of the crew. At the same time, they must do more to emphasize the need for employees to take better care of their health. It seems that many neglect their health after landing the job at SIA. How many of the senior crew are in good shape? How often do we see them smoke in their uniform? Some look like they have belly fat when they're in their uniform.Imagine being served by a chubby stewardess or steward. They should take pride in looking good.
When work schedules are tight and adhere within 'guidelines'..there is insufficient rest and recovery. Minimum rest after a 14 hour duty period is just 12 hours.Duty period includes reporting time, flight time, and 30mins after 'chocks on'Being responsible workers, after 'chocks on' they will continue working well beyond30mins, just to complete duties. It is very diplomatic and 'correct' for managers, and PR communications to claim thatthe health & safety of their employees are at the highest consideration and that their HR practices are within the Employment Act and guidelines of the MoM.But we all know that theory & practice is usually very different. Even in piloting a jet.Long term effects of sitting down in an office, or flying in the cockpit with a weather radar operating between your knees has been studied. But who sponsored the 'study'? Same with cabin crew flying and serving with an expected constant smile...with no other emotion except pure happiness and bliss exuding care and concern for any passenger that coughed: "Sir/madam are you thirsty? ... do you feel cold?..."In all the 30 years of flying, I only chanced upon one medical event at 36,000ft.No one died. The insistence of performing Basic Cardic Life Saving Skill ( BCLS ) to meet national standards is purely a KPI created to mirror nursing standards. The KPI was not devised to account for the environment in an aircraft cabin and for crew whose primary role is to open a door and direct passengers out as quickly as possible.Did the recurrent test cause the stroke? Hard to believe. But it does open up questions of purpose and practice in a larger context.May Edgar go peacefully.
My reply for those CC ,who may be unable to respond. Why dont you guys bring to MOM about paying you guys manager's pay (7k a mth) for doing a waiter's job? CC pay consist of multiple components of allowances, hardship, overnight, etc.Expats get the same, so why deprive them Union agreed, and Management paid for years ,so why do you envy or even mention it. Yes CC are nobody until your aged parents choke on board and CC Nobody perform a Heimlich and put the life back into them. CC could be ten hours into duty and yet jump to do BCLS. Or open doors in an Emergency as in Osaka and save all ? Then hero's of the Plane ? .And go home to deprived family suffering from hunger due to low low pay ? The body have a cycle of rest and performance, otherwise, the mind and body goes into rest mode. Try heart surgery, would you trust the Surgeon to work cut and stitch beyond certain hours?I will pray for you,and all will so,if you do. More pay and more rest? Should be enough rest or else VY case will come back again in some form and manners.Pay should not be bunch togther with rest, it's not ethical to inject cash into CC and expect performance beyond normal body ability. ISIS players take pills for beyond normal human ability. MOM will not agree. As for SEP multiple choice questions,I think it's dumb system overral especially the minus point for wrong or I term slight play on words. It can be overcome by trial testing of all sets of possible permutations and combinations, there is only 26 letter in the alphabets.Well, one must go through the motions for reinforcement of protocol in lieu of actual crashes, and for me countering dumb and dumber questions destress more than seeing daft posting. As for "Maybe management should look into more manual work for cabin crew to make them work harder and work their heart more. Or cut their allowances so they dont indulge so much on food. Maybe ban them from pcl and jcl food so they are healthier? ", a good ideas.Should be implemented on the Pilots too. Go down via Cockpit sliding window only. Henceforth ,ey only meals for them. Also J,C paxs vegetarian only for their health and call all JC Holistic Class.Guaranteed to live to 90.Save money for Airlines also.
