Older stewards are more vulnerable......

The chances of the older stewards getting complaints of molestation by the stewardesses are higher than that of the younger stewards. Most of those who were complained against were between the ages of 45 and 59.
It irks a young stewardess to be "touched" or sexually harassed by an old steward. Most stewardesses would willingly "forgive" if their young male colleagues did the same thing to them.
I don't blame the girls for feeling that way because the older stewards are as old as their parents. Some are even as old as their grandfathers.
The sad part about being charged and found guilty for sexually harassing or molesting a stewardess are:

  • One would lose his job
  • The company would forfeit the gratuity due to the crew (refer below)

  • An undignified way to leave the airlines after serving so many years
  • Acquiring the bad reputation as a "molester"
  • Bring shame to his family
No amount of advice to these older stewards could change their behaviour. My opinion is they should be sent for a course on how to avoid being charged for such acts or a course to teach them to refrain from committing the offence.

hi bt, i would like to ask whats the average age of new male stewards in SIA? Will 25/26 years old be uncommon and too old to join?

thanks. is 25/26 for guys the minority for stewards? i was told for females the average age for newbies is about 20 to 23 but no info for guys.

my worry is that it will be weird and cannot get along with the younger ones during training.
