Lee Kuan Yew's death on 18 March a hoax

The above were circulating on WhatsApp and the internet on 18 March. Many were very concerned and sadden by the news that Mr Lee had passed away.
It took a while to find out that the whole thing was a hoax. But why would someone want to circulate this type this malicious rumour? Was it done unintentionally or was the person/s who circulated the rumour misinformed?
Whatever the reason/s may be, it was done in poor taste especially so in this case whereby the victim was our great and respectable leader.
It's good that the police is investigating the case.

Why would these arseholes do such a thing? LKY is a great leader and without him many Singaporeans will be living in squatters. Bo-chai-si or ingratitude is the word!
