Bohtong, how about scoot Pilots and cc? Are they included in the 2400?

Boh Tong said...

Yes all included but Singaporeans are spared for the moment.

Lucky Singaporeans.

400 pilots. Foreigners affected. Singaporean of all ages spared for the time being.

how about Cabin Crew Singaporeans/PR ? Are they spared too ?

It's indeed very sad to see many well performing foreign staff being let go. The remaining Singaporeans should be mentally prepared that they may be affected if there is a next round. Pray that the situation will improve significantly by year end and we are able to fly with SQ again soon.

Singaporean/PR you are ok. Safe zone. Just pray for a vaccine early otherwise the next phase {Singaporean /PR} will set in. Only when people are allowed to travel freely will the airlines be able to maintain its staff.

Cabin crew : as long as holding pink IC you are "A" ok. PR ok too at this time frame.

Oh no, does the employment contract allow SIA to unilaterally terminate employment? Hope there will be compensation...

Gd99 is what?

What happens to those retrenched Japanese and Korean cabin crew with monthly housing allowances and on rental contracts? Will they at least receive compensation for housing allowances, or will they be left stranded and on the hook for the full amount of rent owed? Hope they are taken care of .....

if got next round, pls axe PR. anyway PR are here for the money only and not loyal to SG at all.

Its obvious that one is non crew.GG 99 is grounded till got flight available on the roster, which can be updated for duty. Its not going goner or other shortened, although for some with bad karma,it means something bad is about to happen,or shit hit the fan,or for pilot,if the fans does not turn, the plane is doom--

The Koreans and Japanese crew are not affected in this retrenchment.
However, if they are affected like the M'sians they can break the rental
contract and need not pay the penalty to their landlords.

GD 99 is ground duty

Hi Boh Tong, I've heard some of my Korean cabin crew friends say that they have received the email to go for the briefing at STC on Monday. When you say that the Korean cabin crew are not affected in this retrenchment, do you mean the briefing on Monday for them will not be about retrenchment but something else? Thanks!

The rational why the Korean and Japanese crew are spared is bec there is a requirement by the govt of the country to have Jap/Kor announcements made by the Jap/Kor crew.
If they are retrenched and suddenly flights to Jap/Korea can be mounted, SIA would not be able to fly there without acceding to the announcement requirement by their govts.
So u need to keep them for a quick turnaround just in case.
The Malaysian crew happens to be at the wrong job, wrong time situation. Luck is the ultimate factor that decides your destiny strange enough.

My guess is that Kor/Jap crew below the 2.5yrs will be released too.

If u have the letter then that's it.
It's should be a retrenchment you are looking at.
