Breakfast service on SQ656

The breakfast in the EY was quite good.We had omelette, 2 large sausages, spinach etc. On the tray was a breadroll, yogurt, cut fruits and a glass of fruit juice (mine was apple juice). Overall, the breakfast was substantial. The only complaint I had was the breadroll was stone cold. The other choice was Japanese chicken teriyaki which I declined.

SIA cabin crew

We flew from SIN to FUK recently and the video was about the crew serving breakfast before landing. Flight was 70% full and it was a smooth flight with good inflight service. The breakfast video will be uploaded in the next few days.

Retiree scammed off 40k in CPF

He was scammed 40k of his CPF money. Read here  I was quite shocked to hear that one's CPF money could be siphoned off but after reading the news I now understand how it works. So please be careful and don't click on link/s that offers cheap deals.

SVPs and managers I've worked for

Watch how I made Konnyaku fruit jelly by clicking here

Out of the 6 cabin crew SVPs I have worked for (TPP wasn't my SVP), one had passed away (Capt Segar), 2 are sick and the rest are fine. I wish them good health. The oldest is now living in Australia and is in his 80s. Yap Kim Hua and Eddie J are my favorites...why??..well because they were rather kind and understanding.

The last manager I've worked for is now retired and his predecessor had kicked the bucket. I've no love for them. Cyril Teo and Eddie Lim were my favorite managers. Cyril had passed away years ago and Eddie is now living in Melbourne.

SVP cabin crew

I am merely speculating that TPT the SVP of cabin crew would either be medically boarded out (due to illness) or be given the early retirement. TPT is in his late 50s and the retirement age for such high ranking staff in SIA is 60. If I were in his shoes, I will go for the early retirement scheme which has many benefits. His number 2 (DVP)has been running cabin crew division for a few months already. That said, health is more important than position and money. I wish TPT well in whatever position he may take after all he has managed cabin crew very well.

Jim was sentenced to 15 months jail

From what I've heard he (Jim)once cheated his friend of 100k and fled to Malaysia. When he came back several years later, Jim was arrested at the causeway checkpoint. He was sentenced to 15 months in jail. He has left Singapore and is now in Malaysia.

Jim wanted a loan but I ......

An ex-crew (Jim) whom I bumped into unashamedly asked me for a loan. He told me he was in bad shape financially due to his gambling habit. If I am not wrong he was sacked by SIA many years ago. I don't know why SIA sacked him but I think it may be due to some money issue.
I took out a $100 note and gave it to him. He was unhappy as he wanted to borrow 1k from me. I knew if I were to lend him, he will never pay back the loan. I apologised but he cursed me and said I was stingy.Since that encounter, I have not heard from him to this day.
I will continue telling about this ex-crew in my next post......

One successful and not the other one

Fish & Co was established in the late 1990s and turned out to be successful while Kevin Khoo in 2020 was a failure. Both were owned by ex SIA cabin crew. Do you know why one was successful and not the other one?

Ex-stewardess scammed at Carousell!

An ex-stewardess was scammed S$1,000 from her DBS account while trying to sell some items in Carousell. The "buyer" claimed that payment was made and the goods would be collected soon. "Buyer" asked her to check her bank account to confirm that the payment was done. She then opened her DBS Digibank account and the next moment she saw her 1k was transferred out of her account! A report was made to DBS and the police. It has been a few days but so far there is no news from either DBS nor the police.

* Ex- stewardess set her withdrawal limit at 1k otherwise all her money will be swiped clean.

An act of .....

SIA crew are taught not to discriminate against races, non English speaking passengers etc but I can recall one occasion whereby the crew mock or insulted a passenger. This happened many moons ago.
One of my ex colleagues asked a newbie stewardess to give a comb to an economy class passenger. When the stewardess approached the passenger she was shocked to find that she was a bald headed nun. Nevertheless not to disobey her superior she handed the comb to the passenger (the nun did not request for the comb). This created a stir among passengers seated near the nun. The nun was not the least offended but to one of her fellow passengers this was an act of mockery or making fun of a bald headed person. The passenger complained to SIA management and my ex colleague was fired!

SIA crew does not practise discrimination

Let's hope that discrimination against non English speaking passengers will not happen on SQ flights. I am quite confident that our crew are sensitive enough not to do that as at CX  .

DVP is now in charge of cabin crew

Someone left in the comment below the previous post stating that:

Anonymous said...

Another CFO Tan taking over CC.Confirm TP.Tan fading into sunset ?

The statement is quite correct as I have heard that an assistant (DVP) is now in cabin crew to oversea the day to day running of the division.

As you know that TPT is ill and is still on long medical leave.

Shoplifting

Heard that the Osaka shoplifting case wasn't the only one in recent times but there were a few other cases. In this post I am only going to talk about why people shoplift and what do they normally steal. My answers to the first part are:
1) Boredom (applicable to crew during nightstops)
2) Greed
3) Sick (psychological disorders)
My answers to what they usually steal:
1) clothings including underwear
2) Jewellery
3) Something that can be easily hidden

If you have anymore to add please type them in the comment space.

Crew detained in Japan due to .....

A steward was alleged to have shoplifted some items from a shop in Osaka, Japan recently. He was caught by the staff and handed over to the police. The steward was detained even though he explained it was all a misunderstanding. Due to the limited understanding of the English language nothing much could be done to help the poor guy.
I was told the owner of the shop did not want to press charges against the steward. All the shop owner wanted was an apology and payment for the items allegedly stolen. This was comply with and the steward was released. However, on arrival at the airport, the steward was detained by the immigration officer. This time the so called crime was overstaying. The steward was supposed to leave Japan on a certain day with his crew but due to his detention in Osaka he had to depart a few days later which was against the Japanese immigration law.
