Flying in economy class doesn't have to be a miserable experience.

To make flying more enjoyable for its passengers, Singapore Airlines Ltd. is adding bigger screens, more in-flight movies and a PC, running Red Hat Inc.'s distribution of the Linux operating system, in every seat on its newest planes.

Unlike many U.S. airlines, the carrier doesn't view in-flight service as a cost center where cutbacks can be made to reduce losses or boost profits. Instead, Singapore Airlines' latest investments in cabin service are designed to help it stand out from the competition and attract more passengers. For full story click here

The Identical twins

Ro and Lex were identical twins borned a few minutes apart. They joined the airlines as flight stewards at about the same time. Very few people would be able tell the difference between the two brothers.
Their parents love Rolex watches, hence the name Ro and Lex. When they were borned, their parents who were so obsessed with the Rolex watches not only named them after the watch but bought each of them a boy sized half gold Rolex.
Ro,the older of the two fell in love with an Australian girl Jill, whom he met in Melbourne during his night stop. They were dating each other and planned to get married when Ro had saved enough money.
Unfortunately,Ro's parents were against the idea of their son marrying a Caucasian girl. They tried talking Ro out of it but to no avail.
The younger brother Lex was a filial son and he could not understand why his older twin brother would not obey their aged parents.
During a night stop in Melbourne,Lex called Jill up and pretended he was Ro.
Jill came and visited Lex,thinking he was Ro.
That night after a few drinks,Lex had sex with Jill. In fact,he took her virginity and left a "broken pot" as he called Jill for his older brother.
When Ro came to know about the incidence,he almost killed Lex for he knew Lex did it to please their parents, knowing very well Ro would not want to marry a "broken pot".
Poor Jill and Ro broke up after the sad incidence and till this very day,Ro is a bachelor.

Mother's loss,daughter's loss.....

Carol cuddled her little grandson in her arms and slowly rocked him to sleep. Bret was the son of Carol's only child,Cathy.
Now in her early fifties,Carol was retired and a full time grandmother to little Bret. After gently put Bret in his bed,Carol made herself a cup of coffee and sat in her old rocking chair, sipping her hot cup of coffee and reminiscing the past.

Grandma Carol was a flight stewardess in her late teens and early tweneties. She had fell in love with a co-pilot who was as young as her. They were a very loving couple and had planned to get married.

On a unexpected return from a flight that was disrupted due to an aircraft technical fault one night, carol was shocked to find her boyfriend in bed with another stewardess. Feeling hurt and betrayed,Carol left her pilot boyfriend for good.

Carol left the airline soon after her breakup with her pilot boyfriend. She got a job with a bank and fell in love with Tony, her manager. It was a whirlwind romance and they got married a few months later.

After having been married for a year, Carol left the bank to be a full time mother. They had a cute little daughter Cathy and she meant the world to both Carol and Tony.

Now after almost thirty years later,Cathy was married and gave birth to little Bret her only son and child.

Cathy was also a stewardess, like her mother,in the same airline. Cathy, like her mother was also romantically involved with a pilot but this time a captain who was much older than her.

They had gone through much trouble together, yes Cathy and captain Teo to be married. Capt Teo was a married man and had divorced his wife to marry cathy. They were caught in bed by Teo's wife during a night stop in Hong Kong and the rest was history.

Grandma Carol still remember the day when Cathy her daughter brought her captain boyfriend to meet her in a cafe. Carol would never forget the feeling she experienced in the cafe when the three of them met.

The shocked almost killed poor Carol. Cathy's future husband happened to be her mother's ex-pilot boyfriend and now after so many years the two ex lovers met face to face as future mother and son-in-laws.

Carol and Teo were shocked and lost for words when they met that unforgetable day with Cathy in the cafe. However,Cathy was oblivious to what was happening, not realising that she was going to marry her mother's ex boyfriend.

At first, Carol protested against Cathy's planned marriage to Teo but later relented when she realised how much her daughter had loved the man she herself had loved many years before.

The only consolation Carol had of the whole episode was that Cathy had unknowingly avenged on her behalf by robbing Teo's ex wife of her husband.

Before she could lift her cup for the last few sips of her coffee,a loud ring of the house phone got Carol running to answer the call. It was Cathy's voice but one that filled with panic and fear. " Mom,Teo is dead,My darling is dead......" and the voice over the other end of the phone faded away.......

A few days later, captain Teo's body was cremated. He had died of a heart attack while he was away during one of his night stops.

Well Done SQ Cabin Crew!

SIA staff so caring, 84-year-old overcame nervousness flying on a plane

MY 84-YEAR-OLD mother travelled alone from Karachi to Singapore by SQ401 on June 4, arriving in Singapore on Tuesday, June 5.
She is usually a very nervous traveller. However, she said she was not at all nervous on the flight because, as she has been repeatedly telling everyone, the service she received was wonderful.

The SIA stewardesses were so attentive and considerate that they made her flight very comfortable.

Every now and then they would ask her if she wanted anything - water or any drink - or if she was comfortable or if she wanted to go to the toilet..click here to continue

Eric Chia my good friend.

I am proud to count Tan Sri Eric Chia as a friend of mine. It's great to hear that he has been acquitted of the corruption charges laid against him in the Perwaja case.
From the very start when Eric was charged with corruption,I knew he was an innocent man and he would be acquitted.

Eric and I met on a flight 38 years ago. I was a 22 year old steward and this first class passenger of mine was a burly Chinese gentleman who declined to eat his first class meal. He drank soda water throughout the flight. He never bothered me or my crew and gave us the occasional smile when we pass by where he was seated.

I had served Eric many times on the MSA (Malaysia Singapore Airlines)flights. Not once did he eat on the flights nor drank alcohol. He was usually quiet and deep in thoughts.

There were occasions when he came to the crew's assistance when dealing with PITA first class passengers. He would tell the PITA passengers to back off and leave the crew alone or else be thrown out of the aircraft.
Basically,Eric was pro cabin crew because of his background. He came to Malaysia in 1950 at the age of 17 with only RM5 in his pocket. He became a multi millionaire because of his love for hard work and the people who worked under him. Even when the company he headed got into financial trouble,he kept back his staff and paid them their salaries from his own pocket.

Eric is indeed a very generous man.Whenever he disembarked at the same destinations as the crew,he would bring the crew out for lavish meals.

Once at Hong Kong Kai Tak airport,he almost bashed up an 'ang moh' passenger who was nasty to the ground staff. To us,Eric was and still is the champion of the underdogs.

When a colleague of ours was victimised by our director and lost his job,Eric invited him to Kuala Lumpur and offered him a job that paid double what SIA used to pay him.

"PITA passengers, please don't bully us lah, have a heart hor cos we have to make a living to put our children thru' schools and support our poor aged parents"

Recently,I visited a forum whose members were mostly SIA PPS passengers. While there were many who were courteous and friendly to me after discovering I was the blogger "boh tong",there were others who were snobbish and treated me like a "low down" steward. One accused me of being bias and obnoxious and a few others sided with him.
I responded by telling some of them that while SIA may stand for "Sir I Apologise"( we were taught that even PITA passengers were right when they were wrong and so as cabin crew we must apologise for everything)my name is "boh tong" and it stands for "But Over Here, Terrorising's Over N Gone".
The moderator of the forum closed down the Topic ( PITA PPS passengers)after subtlely telling the other members that I had issued threats.

At the forum,I mentioned some the prominent and nicest passengers I had served, people like Prof. Tommy Koh,MM Lee and Mrs. Lee,Eric Chia,Robert Kuok and others and that a few our PITA PPS passengers should emulate, I asked to piss off.

PITA = Pain In The Arse.
PPS = Priority Passenger Service ( or Poor Pathetic Shitter...hahaha)

Humour on a Saturday morning to cheer you up.

1)The cabin crew has to record anything in the cabin and galley that are not working properly in a book called the cabin defect log (cdl)for the ground technicians to repair.
Entries like the following by some of the crew would make you roar with laughter.

"the rear left side toilet door squid!"

"Drystore compartment in ey fwd galley is 1 screw loose"

"FC water boiler overheated can export if not repaired"

"Tray table at 53c slant like crazy"

"Ey toilet *** cannot flash"

"U/D galley light is very deemed"

2) A passenger returned the main dish to the stewardess and told her "the chicken was bad". The stewardess took the dish and in a no nonsense tone said, "chicken behave yourself!" and returned the dish to the shocked passeneger.

Is sex on a plane legal?

An A-list actor is accused of having a mile-high fling, and a private plane company plans to launch chartered flights for romantic liaisons. But what exactly is the legality of this much fabled form of sexual indulgence?

It’s a heady mix. There’s the adrenaline of flying at 30,000 feet on the way to exotic shores and the frisson of illicit temptation. And maybe even the business class champagne.

Sex on an aeroplane - after the seatbelt lights are off, naturally - makes good reading for fans of blockbuster romance novels, but for some it is more than just a fantasy.

Janet Jackson and Richard Branson are self-confessed members of the “Mile-High Club” and Ralph Fiennes may have joined them...click here for full story

That Cheapo (cheapskate) Airline

A few days ago, I blogged about that cheapo airline which made used of its cabin crew wannabes to help out in their recruitment (interview) process in order to reduce cost.
Now I have a report from its ex crew that their safety procedure is in question. It has employed an ex cabin crew from another airlines who is not even certified as cabin safety instructor to be its chief safety instructor. All this is done in the name of cost saving.
A few management staff of another established airline, who were "forced" to retire due to incompetence were also employed by this cheapo airline.
Why? Because cheapo would be able to save a few hundred dollars.
One retired senior cabin crew from another airline was employed by cheapo only to jump ship later on during a nightstop in Europe because cheapo did not honour the salary it promised this ex crew. Later on this ex crew came back to Singapore and worked in a retail outlet that paid S$1,500 per month. "I rather worked here in Singapore for an honest company for $1,500 a month than fly for that cheapskate and untrustworthy airline", this ex crew said.

The Killing of SIA Steward at Seaview Hotel

Way back in 1970,a group of SIA stewards, a pilot and a police inspector were at the then Seaview Hotel, celebrating the victory of a cabin crew football match.
They were rowdy, drinking and singing loudly, disturbing the other hotel guests and customers at the lobby bar. Some of the crew were as young as 22 years and the oldest was an inspector friend of about 30 years old.

The staff at the bar was not too pleased with their boisterous behavior, especially the night manager, Jack.

Jack was a hot tempered young man of about 24 years old, from a upper middle class family. He never like these SIA guys. There was some jealousy between him and one these SIA stewards,Fred. This ill feeling arose from a fondness over an Air China stewardess by Jack and Fred. These two knew each other and Fred was a regular at the Seaview bar.

When the SIA guys were presented with the bill just before closing time, they started to questioned Jack about the amount. Most of the guys were already intoxicated. This led to an argument between Jack and Fred and the other stewards.
One of the stewards in the group by the name of Bud charged at Jack. The whole group started to chase Jack . He had no choice but ran into the kitchen , withdrew a large knife and stabbed the on coming Bud.

It was not long before the rowdy stewards realised that Bud was stabbed and collapsed in a pool of blood. In the midst of the commotion, Sam the police inspector who was with them, fired a shot in the air to quell the situation.
By this time,Jack had already fled the scene and Bud laid on the floor, motionless.
A week later, Bud died from the stab wound. Jack was arrested and charged with the murder of Bud.

Jack's family, hired the best criminal lawyer in Singapore by the name of David Marshall to defend him.
At the end of a long trial, Jack was acquitted of the murder charge and released from custody.

Bud's mother was devastated and grieved the loss of her son. Every year, on the anniversary of Bud's death, his mother would publish an obituary in the Strait times. This went on for about 20 over years until until one day, the publication stopped.

Qatar Airways tops Forbes' Best in First Class

What do the airline industry's top first class cabins have in common? According to Forbes, they start with airport lounges befitting five-star hotels...click here for full story.

Avoid Cheapo airlines,fly SQ !

Death and injury compensations to passengers and crew as a result of flying are things that most airlines do not want to talk about.
However if the above happened,it would be too late for the passengers. Safety is of outmost importance when choosing an airline to fly with. A list of airlines with poor safety records are published by the EU and banned from flying to their airports.

"The European Union on Wednesday banned 92 airlines, most of them based in Africa, from landing at European airports due to failures in meeting international safety standards...." reported by Associated Press

Another factor to consider when flying is the compensation for death and injuries.
The 1929 Warsaw Convention stipulated the compensation of maximum US$10,000 per death. However, recently it has been raised to US$75,000.

For the crew it is even less for some airlines. SIA in its agreement with its union, would pay up to US$50,000 (S$75,000) per cabin crew.
In the SQ 006 crashed in Taipei,SIA generously offered the families of the crew who died,US$400,000 each on top of the US$25,000 immediate payment for misc. expenses.
The families of the deceased crew refused the above compensation and sued SIA.
The cases were eventually settled out of court and one can only imagine how much the families were paid...S$ 1 millions buck each?

My bet is the cheapo airlines would not even compensate the crew's family with a fraction of SIA's payment. However, reputable airlines like BA,QF etc etc...are quite generous too.

How about the passenger's compensation? Cheapo airlines may just stick to the US$75,000 as laid down by the Warsaw Convention.
As for renown airlines like SQ, it is yours as well as my guess. There was no mention of how much the deceases' next of kin of SQ006 got when they sued SIA. If a crew next of kin was compensated around a million bucks, then it is logical to conclude the passenger's family would probably be paid more.(passengers families were also offered US400,000 initially)

Do you still want to fly cheapskate airlines like the one I mentioned yesterday which unscrupulously exploited and made used of its employment candidates to save a few miserable dollars?

Airline's Disaster Response Lauded...referring to SQ's response to the aftermath of the SQ006 crash by Dr. Carolyn Coarsey-Rader, president of Atlanta, Ga.-based Higher Resources, Inc. Her company specializes in disaster preparedness for the airline industry.

A Disgraceful Airline!

A few years ago, some former colleagues of mine went for the cabin crew interviews with an international airline which wanted to open a base here. This Ass airline wanted Singaporean cabin crew on their flights.
After shortlisting a dozen ex crew from airlines like SQ and UA,this Ass airline had the audacity to make used of a few ex senior colleagues of mine to assist them in carrying out some admin duties in Singapore. These duties included telephoning applicants and asking them to turn up for the interviews, sending the shortlisted candidates for medical checks, arranging travel to the headquarters of this airline etc etc.
But mind you, these few ex colleagues were not yet in the employ of Ass airline. They were promised senior positions. One of them was even asked to be an interviewer on their behalf.
Why did Ass airline asked candidates for the cabin crew positions to help them in the recruitment process? Well,it was cheaper and in fact FOC(free of charge) to use these experienced ex crew to run errands for them.

These ex crew helped out in the recruitment because they were told "officially" they already got the job as cabin crew. The one that became an interviewer for Ass airline was told he was to be the new Singapore cabin crew base manager.

After spending a lot of time and energy in helping the Ass airline, the reward was they never got employed at all.

They were made used of by Ass airline for free. What a disgraceful and cheapskate airline was this Ass airline??

NB...I do not want to mention the name of the above airline due to obvious reason or reasons but what I blog here was the truth.

Caught for "off loading" company's properties.

Crew and staff being caught for unauthorised removable of company's properties do not only happened with SQ but with some other airlines as well.
It's a perennial problem and one that proves difficult to totally wiped out.
The reasons for pilfering are varied but greed is still the main reason. Staff removed items like food and drinks, liquors, passenger amenities like playing cards, pens, writing materials, shavers, toilet rolls etc etc.

The company has in its standing order which states very clearly that any staff caught removing any company's property without written consent are liable for dismissal.A few cases had been handed over to the state authority.

Of all the places where unauthorised removable occurs, the flight kitchen and the air crafts are among the most common.

As for now,I will just blog about the crew 'off-loading'(crew lingo for unauthorised removable)from the air crafts.

The most attractive item to be pilfered is the liquor. Certain countries where crew night stop, the custom allows each crew a bottle of liquor to be brought in.
So,some crew cannot resist the temptation of taking a bottle off the aircraft which of course is foc (free of charge)and consumed them in their hotel rooms. A few of the crew would sell them to bars, pubs and restaurants.A bottle of Dom Perignom Champagne would fetched as much as A$40 if one were to sell it in Australia. The retail price of a bottle of Dom would cost around A$80 or more.

Leave it to some of the 'pro' crew because they have all the contacts to dispose off the stolen liquor.

Recently,I was told 4 crew were caught for unauthorised removable of liquors on a flight to London. A few in house police officers were posing as passengers on the flight where the 4 crew were working.
After arrival into London, they stopped the crew, identified themselves and proceeded to search the crew's baggage.
The security department must have been monitoring these 4 crew for some time. How they do it,I would not go into detail as I would breached the security process.
The security department has to be cocksure the crew are pilfering the company's goods before apprehending them. These guys are pros and had already done their homework before stepping on board the flight to London.

This brings to mind about a case in Bangkok, some years ago. In this particular case, a senior crew was apprehended by the in house police officers after disembarking from the plane. They found a bagful of Dom and Black Label Whisky.
The culprit was sacked and handed over to the Singapore police.

There were other cases too eg. another senior crew who was with the Concorde was sacked for stealing Dom.
In this case, the crew's girlfriend betrayed him by alerting the company to the stock of Dom he had stolen and kept in his home.
Right after the information was given, the in house police raided the crew's house and found the stolen goods.
The informer gave the tip off because the said crew didn't want to divorce his wife to marry her.
Another crew was sacked when he posed as a passenger(he changed into civis at the arrival hall toilets before custom areas) after his flight and carried the passenger's entitlement of duty free liquor into Singapore.

Some years ago,a staff's house was raided and the authorities found a cupboard full of company's cutlery, crockery, food etc.

There were other cases of similar nature and no matter what actions the airlines takes, the pilfering would still go on.

Wanna know why SIA inflight service is the best on this planet?

There are many reasons that contribute to the renowned inflight of SQ. They are the stringent interview processes, the experienced interviewers, the rigorous training (4 months compared to 1 to 2 months for most airlines),the management support, the quality of the trainees recruited etc etc...

In my most humble opinion,it is the strong SIA cabin crew culture that had been passed down from people like Cyril Teo, Peter Chong,Willy Goh, Edward Lim Habiba,Fatima,Dolly Tan,Vivian Khoo,Betty Leong,Bee Hwa etc from the first few batches of stewards and stewardesses that has been ingrained in the hearts and minds of the cabin crew. This culture has been the strongest influence on the high standard of our inflight service today.

We had been fortunate to inherit the culture of pride in our service towards our passengers. SQ cabin crew,in their hearts know that passenger satisfaction is their satisfaction too. So everything that the crew does will always be done with diligence and pride.

The respect bestowed on the senior crew by their juniors is another influence on the inflight service standard. You hardly hear of junior crew having their meals on the flight,no matter how hungry they may be,before their senior. Unless the senior crew do not want to eat first, then with permission, the junior will have their meals. This applies to drinks, greetings etc.

However of late, the juniors are getting less respectful of their seniors and the false and much misunderstood signals that the management sends to them to even report the seniors if they had done wrong, make them much bolder.
Click here if you don't believe me and you would read of the complains they have of their juniors. However, let's hope those type of junior crew are in the minority.

Let us not forget those pioneers whose names I have mentioned above and many others whom I do not have the time to mention. They made us all proud of them for their wonderful contribution which today has made us excellent service providers.

SIA planes hit each other at Singapore airport on Saturday

Posted: 05 August 2007 1234 hrs

SINGAPORE: Two Singapore Airlines planes hit each other's wings while preparing for take-off at the city-state's Changi Airport but no one was injured, the carrier said in a statement Sunday.

"It is reported that the wingtips of two aircraft came into contact while both aircraft were taxiing at low speed," company spokesman Stephen Forshaw said.

Is the Grass Greener ......?

Yep as the saying goes,'The grass is greener over the other side of the fence' but many a times when you get over the other side, you would be disappointed.
Why the disappointment? Many reasons I supposed. One of them could be as you may find out, the grass isn't any greener and some had been trampled on.
The above applies to many things in life. It could be migration to another country, marry a spouse from a different cultural background, going for a so-called better job, so on and so forth.

Here I would like to talk about SQ cabin crew expressing their dissatisfaction with their company. The crew complained about the wages, condition of work, the working environment, the management, the company policies pertaining to matters like free travel on SQ's flights, medical benefits etc.

The crew need to be exposed to the outside working world. Low salary paid by SQ? Well, tell me where can a crew with a 'O' level or 'A' level education be paid the average of S$3,500 per month when they start flying as a stewardess or steward? That works out to S$42,000 a year and what about bonuses? SIA paid 6.07 month bonus this year to its staff. After taxes, the crew get about $40,000 per year and that's much more than an international Australian airline new cabin crew are paid The taxes are pretty high in Australia with crew paying up to 40% of their wages.
In UK,it is as high as in Australia. The Japanese crew pay a little lower than their European counterparts but their cost of living is many times higher than Singapore.

Working for a company in Singapore with the type of educational qualification and limited experience required by SQ,one would not be paid more than S$1,500 per month.
A fresh graduate with a general degree would be paid an average salary of $2,500 if one is lucky.

With my 35 years of working experience as a crew, instructor and executive,I had been offered jobs of not more than S$1,500. Perhaps, the low salary offered to me was due to my age. My wealth of working experience was not taken into consideration. Now,you tell me,SIA cabin crew where in the world are you able to fetch a salary of S$3,500 a month with your kind of work experience in the outside world?

An American airline pays about S$2,000 a month to its cabin crew based here,in Singapore. Looking at their rosters and the hours flown, they work harder than the SQ crew. They currently night stop their crew at Tokyo only and the rest of the flying patterns are turnaround flights.

So SQ cabin crew do appreciate what you have now. The grass over there aren't greener..believe you me cos I know what I am talking about.

You will only appreciate what you currently have when you lose it.
Do not for a moment think I am in the same league as you all. I have always appreciated the job SQ gave me all these years.
As for now,I am quite comfortable in my retirement and I do not need to work. Blogging,as I found out not very late in life though,is the passion of my life and I am able to make enough to pay for my daily cup of kopi and the 2 meals of my choice whether at the neighbourhood coffeshop or at the Ritz Carlton.

Was Chief Steward William blackmailed by a stewardess?

There is a saying that " suckers are borned everyday" and you bet there are here too, in the airlines.
One quiet cool night in the hotel room of Marie's was an invited guest. He was her chief steward William and they were just back from dinner. While William made himself comfortable on the sofa, Marie excused herself and went to the restroom to change into something more comfortable. You bet, it was not only comfortable but revealing too! Marie had changed into her thin pink see through negligee. Phew! that was too much for William.
The next thing was the two of them started kissing passionately and fondling each other. William was in such a great hurry that he almost tore off Marie's negligee. She gave him a tight slap but he was persistent and eventually Marie "relented". In a flash, William's was inside Marie's. Everything happened so quickly and just before this not so cool guy ej........., Marie let out a loud scream and pushed William with a force that could have moved a jumbo aircraft. William was in shock when she started "crying" and accused him of being irresponsible by not wearing a condom. She was sure she would be pregnant. They had an argument and blamed each other for starting the whole thing.
Finally, Marie threatened to make a police report that she was raped. On hearing that, William panic and tried to make a deal with her. That was when she demanded a compensation of $5,000 and the whole affair would be history.
William thought it was unfair as it looked like both parties enjoyed the brief encounter.....but what choice has he left. After all, it was wrong for a male crew of a more senior rank to the female ,to be found in her hotel room.Besides, he was a married man and surely he did not want his wife to know about the incidence. Reluctantly, he wrote a cheque and gave it to her and they both agreed the matter was closed.
After a week or two, the news of the whole episode leaked out and William could not stomach it anymore. He knew he was made a sucker and felt ashamed as most of the crew knew about his affair and he finally he decided to..................

Lustful wife.....repost.

SIA has this "married couple" scheme ,whereby husband and wife cabin crew are rostered together for the same flight. In this manner, SIA is able to save hotel bills as a couple is given 1 hotel room during their stay overseas.
At one of the European stations, there was a set of cabin crew on standby duty.
Janet and Bill were the husband and wife crew and was on standby duty. Around noon of that day, Bill was called up from standby to operate a flight. He would be away on the flight and be back at the hotel by midnight. His wife Janet was not called up for flight, so she would remained in the hotel, still on standby duty till 10pm that night.
When Bill arrived at the airport, he was told that he was not required to operate the flight due to some last minute changes.
Bill was sent back to his hotel by an SIA mini bus. Bill did not want to call his wife as he wanted to surprise her. He looked at his watch and it read 5.35pm and was thinking of having dinner in an hours' time with Janet.
From the hotel lobby, Bill took the elevator to the 11 floor.
As soon as Bill reached room 1135, he took out his hotel room key and slowly opened the door.
Janet was not in the room and Bill noticed that their bed was in an absolute mess. He heard noises coming from the bathroom and someone, whose voice sounded so familiar was quivering in ecstasy.
Suddenly, reality struck Bill. It was Janet in the bath with a fellow steward called Nick. The naked couple were shocked to see Bill standing right over them. In a flash, Nick ran out of the bath and hurriedly put on his bath robe.
There was a fight between the 2 men with Janet screaming and crying.
Things were thrown around and mirrors, shelves and almost everything that belonged to the hotel were smashed.
Hotel security was called in and the 2 stewards were apprehended. There was a big commotion on the 11 th floor. It was the talk of the hotel that night and many nights to come.
At the disciplinary inquiry back home , both Bill and Nick were let off with a stern warning from the management, after they agreed to pay the hotel a sum of S$5,000 for the damages.
Not long after, Bill and Janet were divorced and Nick left the airlines.
