Boh Tong challenges the allegation ex-CCEs were corrupt.

Hey you so called "whistle blower" and those who believed in him/her,I challenge you in front of the world universe to prove that the ex-CCEs were accepting bribes from the crew. If you are right and it can be proven beyond a shadow of doubt that ex-CCEs were indeed corrupt,I would gladly join hands with you and condemn them too.
I for one knows I was and am clean. I was strict to my crew and the idea of exploiting them to the extend of accepting bribes from them were beyond my wildest imagination.
Seriously, prove me wrong and like I said if my ex-colleagues were corrupt then they should be taken to task.
One reader commented that this ex-CCEs' case is liken to the NFK case whereby initially the "big shots" defended the integrity of the ex CEO who later on admitted in court of wrong doings.
Do you think the "whistle blower" was right?

Like to meet boh tong?

Yes please I sure want to meet him. 2 (18%)

Not sure cos don't know whether he exist. 1 (9%)

No thanks I won't wanna waste my time! 3 (27%)

No need cos I already know who he is. 5 (45%)

Since only 18% of the visitors want to meet BT ( this blog's owner) and 72% don't really care to meet him, the above poll which was on the left side bar has been embarrassly removed. In fact BT is glad that only few wanted to meet him otherwise he would have to reveal his identity.
Thank you folks for participating in the abovementioned polls.

A serious allegation against the ex CCEs.

Reproduced below is a comment from "Cash cash Baby" a visitor to this blog under my earlier post heading "Don't pray, pray, we CCEs..." The writer claimed she/he is an IFS (Inflight Supervisor) with SIA that the ex-CCEs ( Cabin Crew Executives..people like myself)were corrupt and accepted money from the junior crew in exchange for giving them good appraisals and helping them get promoted.
On the left hand column of this page is a little opinion poll which ask you readers for your opinion on the above allegation.

Anonymous said...
Ha Ha, i had to pay for good check reports in order to be promoted to IFS. THE TOTAL AMOUNT WAS REALLY SUBSTANTIAL!

All of you CCEs were accepting payment for good check reports and recommendations.

HA HA, and now you all deny this money making racket.

of course the CPIB had to catch anyone because all the transactions were done overseas.

For those who do not understand what is going on.....

a check report is a performance appraisal done periodically by CCEs, the management staff of Cabin Crew.

CCEs periodically come on board the flights to do performance appraisals on the various levels of CABIN CREW.

If the CCEs do not like you and you get a bad check appraisal, this can lead to a poor performance record which greatly affects your chances of promotions and how fast you get promoted.

This situation became for many CCEs a fast money making scam and various Cabin Crew members had to pay exhorbitant amounts to get a good check appraisal.

But of course, all the check appraisals were done 45,000feet up in the air, in the aeroplanes on the different routes to different destinations......and the crew would receive a note in our boxes informing us that we will be on check on the coming flights in our rosters and were hinted to bring some "EXTRA shopping money" on that particular flight.

and the money would be given to the CCEs during the flight when we are given the check appraisal for endorsement.

now that i have my IFS, i am not afraid to reveal how i got my rank.

MOST OF THE EX CABIN CREW WERE ON SUSPICION TO BE PART OF THE RACKET, AND PROOF WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND, EXCEPT THE WHISTLE BLOWER......THAT'S THE MAIN REASON SIA GOT RID OF YOU GUYS...NOT ONLY FOR BEING USELESS DINOSAURS... BUT RICH DINOSAURS.

Retribution!

This ex colleague of mine was a terror to his junior. Let say his name is KuYu. No crew of his were fond of him.In fact, they hated him. When he was a operating crew, he enjoyed giving his crew a hard time on board the flight, especially the male crew. As for the pretty stewardesses he was more than tolerant to them,no matter what sort of mistakes they had committed.
KuYu was a coward when facing his seniors, like his managers, directors etc. He would submit to them even though their views were wrong. To his bosses,he was a conscientious senior crew who was able and effective in carrying out his duties.
But to his juniors he was a pain and a bad example to emulate. He slept with girls no matter whether they were married or not. He often used his power as a senior to threaten the girls who did not want to go to bed with him.
Married and divorced a few times,Ku finally settled down with a fairly rich divorcee who had children of her own.
His present wife was also a terror as far as to Ku. She loved bullying and humiliating Ku in front of his colleagues. She would make him run errands when we were invited to their house,to show us Ku's obedience to her.
She often told us Ku was now paying for his sins and it was retribution. Somehow,it was true she could control Ku whom we thought was uncontrollable. Was it her wealth or black magic she used to subdue this wild animal Ku? I am still trying to find out the real reasons......

One of my favourite trainees...continues

During our stay in Osaka, there wasn't much happening between me and M. I was a very decent ex instructor to M. I was married and she by then, already had a steward boyfriend.
We like each other's company and that's about all. Although we were attracted to each other,we were careful not to get emotionally or sexually involved. M and I spent most of our time in Osaka chatting, watching TV and shopping together. Yes, we sounded boring to everyone, especially the sex maniac who expected us to screw just like Beh .
A few years later, M broke up with her steward boy friend, left the airlines and got married to a rich Japanese businessman. They had two little girls and were happily married.
One day, we in SIA got the news that M committed suicide by hanging herself. No one really knew what happened to M. Some Japanese stewardesses speculated that M's in laws wasn't nice to her and she constantly lived under great pressure to behaved under the strict Japanese aristocracies of her rich in-laws.
To me and all those who knew M,she was a sweet, loving and bubbly girl whom we never never expected to kill herself.
Why did M kill herself remain a mystery to me and all those who loved her.

One of my favourite trainees.

M was a soft spoken, gentle and beautiful Japanese stewardess who stared as a trainee in my class in the late 1980s. Her skin was soft and milk liked. So sweet was M that I couldn't take my eyes off her even while I was teaching the class. It was a great feeling taking this type of trainees. Every morning,I looked forward to the classroom and teaching these lovely girls. There were also others in the class who were attractive but there was none like M.
As a professional trainer, I managed to suppressed my feelings for M. I had to be impartial and nice to the other trainees too, although I had to be very strict to them at times.
This type of work, like teaching these gorgeous girls just keep you want to go on working endlessly. There was so much "incentive" and "motivation" in taking this type of girls. Well of course, there were classes where the instructors felt like vomitting "blood" and I had my fair share of them.
M knew quitely that I was admiring her all the time. Good thing about M was that she never once took advantage of me or made used of me. We understood one another's position and that made me adore her more.
M excelled in her classroom work and she was made one of the class monitors. She was exemplary all round and was chosen to be the best trainee of the class not only by me but the other two instructors of hers as well.
I had the opportunity to fly with her after her graduation from STC. I remember it was an Osaka flight whereby we stopped there for a few days.
From the time we left the aircraft after the flight and in the coach travelling to our hotel, we sat beside each other and talked till we reached our hotel in Osaka.
We were more relaxed with each other since we were off-duty. We ocassionally held hands while in the bus.........

What's wrong with the pilots these days?? Hahaha

Something's not right with the pilots.

Yesterday a court in Singapore fined an ex-pilot S$4,000 for making false delivery calls to his former colleague. The ex pilot was pissed off with the other captain for telling him off about his attire.
A few years ago, another pilot was jailed for 2 weeks for road rage. He punched an old motorist for honing at him.
There was also a case of a pilot who was sacked because of he was found in an aircraft toilet with a stewardess. Both were flying back as passengers and were intoxicated with free alcohol.
During one of my long night flights to Heathrow I was in the cockpit and witnessed this incidence. The captain was telling me about the how upstart the junior crew were like, subtly referring to the one on his right hand seat.
On realising the captain was referring to people like him,the co-pilot turned, looked at his captain and asked whether he could express his opinion on the subject. "Go ahead and give us your 2 cents worth" said the captain.
"You captains are assholes",the FO (first officer/co-pilot)shot at his captain...."Err..I don't mean you but most are.." he quickly corrected himself. " Ok tell us why do you think we captains are asshole".
The FO related a few encounters he had with other captains he flew with and the one that shocked me was a story about an expatriate captain who almost landed his plane on a highway in New Zealand.
It was dark during that landing approach and the captain was guided by the lights along the highway, thinking it was a runway. Much earlier before the approach, the FO alerted the captain it was not the runway where he was approaching. The captain shouted at him and said "young man I have been in and out of this damn place before you went to school, so shut your gap!"
As the plane approached nearer to the "runway" the captain then realised his mistake. It was fortunate the plane did not land on the highway, thanks to the FO.
We have no way of verifying what the FO said was true or not. I found out later on the FO was an ex fighter pilot with SAF holding the rank of a major before becoming a commercial pilot.
I believe the odd behaviour the flying crew are having (cabin crew included)are due to the long hours of confining themselves in the tube (plane) which are artificially pressurised to the equivalent of 8,000 to 10,000 ft above sea level as well as their difficulty in adjusting to the various time zones. For the cabin crew, another factor was the PITA passengers who gave them lots of pressure. In case you want to rebut me on what I said, please remember I was a crew and I know what I am talking about ok? Me cranky too huh?...it's for you to form a conclusion...never mind I had my head "examined" before and it's .......hahaha.

Hello, care to reply or comment?

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Today, 31October 2007.":

DOUBLE STANDARDS??We are aware that recently 3 crew members were terminated due to offloading liquor in London while one escaped with stern warnings. However I just heard that one very popular CSS who's also a rank trainer and regularly appears on service buzz got off lightly after she was caught with off loading first class champagne. Has anyone heard of this and if yes please care to comment. I'm sure everyone is interested to know why she escaped while others were terminated. Is this a case of double standards just because she's a rank trainer and is a regular a STC?
Please post your comments ..

CC where got balls or ch**** to comment albeit annonymously? BT

What about this captain?

Captain J was a captain with an ego as big as the A380. He boasted he was the best pilot SIA ever had. He used to tell the cabin crew to hold a cup full of water during the aircraft landing and it won't spilled a drop because he could land the plane smoothly. But many a times,I myself had experienced the cup of water being thrown over the cabin floor when the plane landed. When told of the spillage, capt J would point to his co-pilot and told us it was the co-pilot who landed the plane. However, whenever it was a smooth landing, capt J would claim the credit even though we knew the landing was by his co-pilot.
Capt. J loved caviar and although there was a perpetual shortage of caviar,he would somehow twisted the supervisors' arms into getting served with caviar in the cockpit.
Capt J boasted endlessly about being good to the cabin crew. There was a time when the crew had problem with a violent passenger, capt J sheepishly locked himself in the cockpit and let the supervisor fend for his crew.
It wasn't just caviar,it was about everything else that he wanted to have priority...even over passengers.
I knew capt J for almost 30 years before his retirement and he had never ever bought me a cup of coffee.
Capt J was a miser and before even he retired,he owned a string of houses.
I understand he still gives the check in staff at the airport lots of problem whenever he uses his free of charge ticket because they didn't address him as captain so and so.
Frankly, the ground staff do not care two hoots who you are or were as long as you are no longer their superior!

MM Lee,a gentleman and Capt. "Balls"

There was a time when there was no bed provided in the first class cabin of SQ's B747.
Feeling tired and unable to rest comfortablely in his first class seat,MMLee (was PM Lee at that time) asked the inflight supervisor to speak to the captain in charge to allow him,MM Lee, to sleep in the crew bunk which was situated in the cockpit. In return, the cockpit crew would rest in the first class seats during their rest period.
The flight time was something like 13 hours and it was in the night.
In the above situation, most captains would obliged MM Lee but in this instance, the captain of the flight turned down the request.
When the supervisor conveyed the news to MM Lee, he was pleasantly surprised to hear what he was told. MM Lee told the supervisor in a gentlemanly way that he accepted the answer, afterall the captain was the commander of the flight.

What about these PITA captains?

  • Capt A very often would order the cabin to line up outside the cockpit and demanded that they introduced themselves to him before the flight. He insisted that the crew gave him the respect as a commander. All the cabin crew hated him as he was arrogant and bossy. The crew's prayer was answered when he was sacked for repeatedly molesting stewardesses during night stop at outstations.
  • Capt D frequently quarreled with the CC (cabin crew) because of food. All crew, including the Almighty captains were allowed to consume first class main course after there are extras which were not eaten by the first class passengers. In the case whenever they were "left overs", the captain of the plane has the first priority over the crew. On many flights capt D would get suspicious when his requests for the main course were unavailable. He had the suspicion that CC lied to him and as a result he would personally visit the galleys and opened all the ovens to make sure CC did not hide his choice of main meals. He once found a Lobster in the oven which the CC told him there was none left. The poor IFS (inflight supervisor) had a terrible flight from then onwards. Actually, a stewardess had requested for the lobster and the IFS decided to reserve it for her. What a shame for a senior captain of a B747 who commanded a salary of about $25,000 a month to fight over food with his subordinates!
  • Capt. DC would on most of his international flights brought along an empty bottle and asked the CC to fill it up with the free Black Label Whisky which was meant for the first class passengers. There was a time when an IFS had refused to carry out his dishonest command. Instead of "screwing" the IFS up, he threw tantrum at his co pilot. This co pilot literally begged the IFS to do him a favour by dishonestly topping up the empty bottle. For the sake of the co pilot who was a nice guy,the IFS obliged. This cheapskate capt had 3 bungalow houses in the prime district!
  • Capt. K was a real "chee hong" and he would not speak with any male CC except the stewardesses. He often invited the stewardesses to sit in the cockpit for the take-offs and landings. He would "try" on the girls by inviting them to his hotel rooms during the night stops and offered them tea and coffee which was stolen from the aircraft.( He usually brought along his mug and hot rod for boiling water)
  • There were captains who abused their power by upgrading any "skirts" they want to "try" to the first class. The abuses were so rampant that SIA management issued strict order that no one was allowed to upgrade any passengers for one's selfish gain.

The list goes on and on......don't believe what I blogged? Then ask any CC except those who are related to these PITA captains!

A serious and false allegation!

The following is a serious allegation made by a cowardly visitor to my blog against the ex CCEs (cabin crew executives) which I was a part of :

"SERIOUSLY YOU OLD FOLKS ARE LUCKY SIA DID NOT THROW YOUR CASE TO THE CPIB FOR ACCEPTING BRIBES FROM ALL THE CABIN CREW PROMOTIONS!YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE YOUR BUCKS!SO THE COMPANY HAS LET YOU ALL F/O !!!!!!!!GET ON AND STOP TRYING TO BE A PARASITE TO THE AIRLINE WITH YOUR FALSE COMPLIMENTS AND SWEET WORDS!

To read in full the above allegation/comment and my rebuttal, please scroll down to the posting entitled "Don't pray, pray ok,we ex-CCEs are ......."

I seek your kind comments to the above...thanks BT :)

Yes,Capt LSC again

There was another case whereby a passenger challenged this captain. It was during transit at HKG with the flight terminating at SFO (San Francisco).
Captain LSC was looking forward to eagerly fly the B747 to SFO. However, when he and his FO (first officer)boarded the plane,a transist passenger pointed his finger at the two crew and shouted loudly from the cabin..."Oh no not another chink!"(a derogatory term for Chinese). This pax was apparently upset at having a Chinese captain commanding the flight from SIN (Singapore) earlier.
Without much hesitation,Captain LSC coolly radioed for the ground staff and got that racist pax off-loaded.
On realising what an extra day at HKG would cost him,the pax begged the ground staff to let him talk to the captain. He promised to behave himself and apologise to the captain if he was allowed back on the flight.
That pax was refused back on the plane and he had the "misfortune" to spend another day tolerating a few millions chinks in HKG.

SIA Boys/Girls wanted!

This captain has "balls".

Don't want to mention this captain's name cos he may not like it...but I certainly think he was gutsy and did the things few commanders would do.
Let's call him Capt.LSC and he was a local pilot.
This incidence happened om my flight where Capt. LSC was in command. During that night flight to Melbourne (MEL) via Sydney (SYD), a Caucasian passenger in the economy class complained to the cabin staff that he witnessed both pilots walking along the main deck aisle of the B747 at the same time. "Who the hell is in the cockpit flying this damned plane?" this passenger shouted at the cabin staff.
The crew explained to him that it was impossible for the two pilots to be out of the cockpit at the same time. According to the regulation, one of the two pilots must remain in the cockpit at all time during the flight.
"Bullshit!" came the reply and that passenger demanded the captain apologise to him or else......
When Capt LSC was told of the passenger's complaint,he remained cool and flash a big smile at me.
When the flight arrived at SYD, Capt. LSC ordered the passenger who earlier accused him and his co pilot of deserting the cockpit during the flight to be offloaded. The complaining passenger and his wife was shocked at hearing the news. They pleaded with Capt. LSC to let them fly to MEL. but the capt. refused.
Later on,I asked Capt. LSC how he was going to justify the offloading of the passengers,he replied cheekily with a wink..."that ass**** had undermined the confidence of the rest of the passengers by stating that me and my first officer was sleeping on the job"

When I was a steward.

The arrogant PITA expatriate captains.

We had and still have captains from Air India,British Airways,Qantas etc flying for SIA. Some if not most of these ex BA, Air India as well as other international airlines captains flying for SIA used to be PITA (pain in the arse ) pilots. However,I must confess that these days these pilots are better and more civil to the cabin staff.

The period was from 1970 to 1985 when I, myself have had problems with a few of these PITA captains. I was then a flying cabin crew,a chief steward and later an Inflight Supervisor (IFS).

These expat captains thought the world of themselves,as though they were the only human beings capable of flying aeroplanes. They behaved like colonial bullies to the cabin crew.

There was a particular captain from Air India by the name of Buto (not his real name). He was a fair skinned northern Indian and used to fly as a senior captain for AI. He used to shout at the cabin crew for the slightest thing.

One day Buto was travelling as a passenger and I happened to be the chief steward serving him in the first class. During the flight,he kept pressing the call bell and bothered us so much that it interrupted the service to the other revenue first class passengers. When his order for whisky was delayed a little while,he would shout at my stewardess and banged the tray table.
His favourite phrase was "I will complain to your director".
On that flight,Buto drank a lot and he was almost drunk. Using my discretion,I told my crew to stop serving him alcohol. Buto became furious and summoned me to his seat and in front of the other passengers told me , "in Air India, I would have got you a sack". I replied politely that this was Singapore Airlines and not Air India. Of course,my reply got him so mad that he almost punched me.
Following this,Buto marched into the cockpit and complained to the captain flying the aircraft that I was rude and had refused to serve him alcohol.
In the cockpit operating the flight was another ass**** ex Air India captain. So can you imagined the position I was in?
My order not to serve Buto alcohol was overruled by the operating captain.

Another incident was about a British captain. His name was "Cock" and this happened around 1973. He was flying the B707 then.
He lined the whole cabin staff of the flight in the cabin before passengers boarded the plane and scolded us like children for not introducing ourselves immediately when he boarded the plane.
During flight, he would intimidate the cabin crew by asking questions on safety procedures, equipments etc. If anyone fail to give him a proper answer,he would threaten to "off-load" us at the next transit station.
If Cock was not served with the food of his choice,he would find fault with us. Usually the favourite dishes were taken up by the first class passengers. These revenue passengers have priority over the crew as far as food was concerned. Crew were supposed to eat the food which was not taken by the first class passengers ("left overs")
Cock was not particularly happy to eat "left overs". He expected us to use our "discretion" to deceive the passengers and gave him priority over them.
There were many other cases of abuse by these expat captains which I may mention here in my blog some other time.

That Old Filthy Lying Rich Cock.

It was many years ago when we happened to meet this filthy rich old passenger in the first class cabin. Let us call him Mr. Lee. He could not speak English and so we conversed with him in Hokkien,a Chinese dialect. Of course Lee was delighted because we communicated with him in Hokkien.
My chief steward and I spoke with Lee and found out that he was making his money through some sort of financial speculation or gambling. We were very impressed when he related to us how he came from China as a penniless young man and through his shrewdness and hard work made tons of money.
At that time his company was going public and we asked him for tips on how to make money from the stock market. His advice was.."young men, save every cent you earn and never, never gamble". When asked whether we should invest in his company share ( IPO was not more than 20cents),he again told us not to get involve in shares as it was a form of gambling.
Sometime during the flight,Lena, a lovely stewardess who worked in the first class came to me and the chief steward and told us Lee had whispered into her ear and prompted her to buy as much as she could afford of his company shares. When Lena told him she did not have money to buy the shares,Lee told her with a cheeky wink in his eyes that he would give her $20,000.
My chief steward and I was disappointed with Lee's insincerity. But then being a shrewd businessman and a flesh man,who would not want to make advances at a girl like Leena.
A few months later,Lee's company shares shot up to $5.
Mr. Lee has since been six feet underground (dead and burried).

The truth that was never told by boh tong.

The truth about certain stories that boh tong did not tell in his blog eg.

Don't pray,pray ok,we ex-CCEs are .......

Another funny comment, mocking me I supposed:

I was with Singapore Airlines( SIA) for 35 years as a cabin screw and executioner. I left the airlines during the SUCKS period of 2003 when SIA was losing huge sums of $$(into our pockets).Today,SIA has recouped its loses and make tons of $$ and is the first airlines to fly the super mumbo jumbo of A380. Congrats Singapore Airlines and we ,ex CCEs love you and wish you can give us back our jobs at half the salary. We wish you all the best only if you follow S'pore Gamen's advice to rehire older workers like us!
Pray pray onli ok!
