Apology from SIA!

My poor ex-boss has to "quai quai" apologize to that ms Tan who complained against the leading stewardess for telling her she would come back with the English newspaper for her father who can't even speak English.
Aiya what to do when you choose a name like SIA which stands for Sir I Apologise or in this case its Seow-cheir I Apologise.
Below is the apology:

SIA says sorry for cabin crew's behaviour

I REFER to the letter by Ms Tan Ai Ching, Serene (my paper, Jan 23).

We apologise for Ms Tan's unpleasant experience. We have looked into this issue following her feedback.

Demand for The Straits Times was higher than usual during Ms Tan's flight, and our crew, therefore, asked customers who were travelling together to share copies.

We have stressed the need for our cabin crew staff to be mindful of the manner in which they communicate with our customers.

I would like to assure Ms Tan that no offence was meant.

Mr William Koh
Divisional Vice-President,
Cabin Crew Operations
Singapore Airlines

By now you all should know the reason for the high crew turnover rate as well as my request for early retirement.

Hey stinkaporeans don't like it ah go and fly a kite lah!!!

Why shocked by leading stewardess's behaviour?

A passenger Ms Tan complained bitterly about the "rude" behaviour of a SIA Leading Stewardess. There are others in that same forum also took sides with Ms Tan and one complained about being discriminated on a Barcelona flight(of course there are others presumably "ang mohs" who took the leading stewardess side, hahaha).
Hey Singaporeans wake up and face the truth! You buggers are bloody rude too. You ain't treat the cabin crew with an ounce of respect and just because you pay a few peanuts to the airlines,it doesn't mean you can belittle the poor SQ gals or boys....and it doesn't make sense to demand respect too.
The one who complained about not being treated equally as the "Australian couple" should asked "itself" why, why, why???
Click
here to the forum.

After more than a week and after an apology from SQ some people still crying out for blood.....what a disgrace those people are!

I did close my blog but................

I closed my blog starting from last midnight and people can visit only by invitation. There was so many complaints from my regulars via emails, phone calls etc for being so "leceh" or troublesome to get into my blog.
My wife was also mad with me and accused me of being mean. Whole morning she nagged, nagged at me until I cannot "tahan" and I finally relented. Now every Tom,Dick and Cock and come in here anytime they want to.
Actually,I wanted this blog to be exclusive ( wait..don't be so quick to condemn me ok) so those idiots who so often used foul and cynical lingo to comment cannot come in.....but what the heck after that non stop nagging from wifey...sigh...had to open again.
Tell you what, from now on I want Mrs. boh tong to take over and blog...good idea?

Alamak another complaint ah!

I BOARDED a Singapore Airlines flight to Kuala Lumpur (SQ108) on Jan 19.
I was given a bulkhead seat, which is near the exit and the cabin crew's take-off seats. I noticed that during take-off and landing, the cabin crew were busy chit-chatting with each other.

I am a former flight attendant (not with SQ) and it was drilled into us by our safety trainers to always go through the emergency procedures in our minds during take-offs and landings (as these are crucial moments of a flight) so that we can react immediately if there is indeed an unplanned emergency.Click here to continue
Source: Straits Times Forum 28 January 2008

If the above complaint is true then I think it was wrong of the crew to chat during those crucial moments of take-offs and landings.
Was that a B777 aircraft? Is the IFS's take-off and landing seat shared with a flight steward(with whom he was seen chatting) as alleged in the complaint or was it supposed to be a stewardess? My apology for posing those questions as I have left the airlines more than 4 years ago and can't remember the sitting position of the cabin crew.
Well SQ crew you are perpetually under close scrutiny by members of the public and I urge you to be always conscious of that. Remember you are the best airlines on this planet and that's the reason people are always watching you.

In case you win..................

In case you win a free business ticket from SIA don't be so "suaku"(ignorant)and ask the crew how to deploy your bed. Watch this video and you should able to do it without giving the impression that you are a "jarkoon" ( dumb ass)to fellow paxs and crew. Come'on be proud and "Stand up for Singapore"...lol.

Pssst, SIA I didn't taped this ah...someone else did and I merely download it from YouTube....so don't sue me hor....sue Googles the owner of YouTube cos they have lots and lots of $$$.

Senior cabin crew continues.....

Hello guys don't be offended hor. See so many negative comments about you asses. There was one who called his neighbour and IFS si-peh how lian ( boster cock).Day in night out "talked about his crew ,talked about ................" Heloo people gets tired of your BS okay...no need to tell your neighbour about your "wonderful" job....but at least this ass ifs is better than those who complain to their friends, relatives, neighbours about their company.
Wake up la you silly asses cos the airlines does not owe you a living ok....if at all the airlines owed it to the CCE (C/T)s for training dumbasses cabin crew how to look and care for the ungrateful paxs so wonderfully well....hehe everyone kena tekan from uncle here.

Saturday, January 19, 2008

Senior cabin crew be realistic.

There are still many senior cabin crew especially the inflight supervisors and chief stewards/stewardesses who think they are indispensable to the airlines. They feel the airlines owe them a living and they are the people who will make or break the company.
These crew complain about almost everything, about their flight patterns, hotels, working conditions, retirement ages, their bosses ( this one I don't blame them)etc.etc.
Some of these senior crew are now entering into the Andrapause and Menopause age and I feel sorry for them having to do long night flights and facing asshole passengers.
I have one advice for these aging and some fat crew. Quit the bloody jobs and be like me having my own free time and getting up anytime of the day I want to. Have lunches with old classmates and friends and chat about old times. But here I must warn you before jumping in to join me.... you won't be receiving your S$7,000 a month salary plus 6 months bonus(for ifs and $6,000 for cs). These days, its even worse because of the rising inflation in Singapore mainly caused by the fucking OPEC countries who are becoming wealthier at the expense of the poor like myself (US$100 per barrel of bloody black greasy stuff) and the so called shortage of wheat and this and that. The increase in the gst makes it worse and is like plunging a sharp knife into the heart of a dying man.
So you old hack senior crew stop complaining. You guys should go to the temples,Novena, churches and places of worship and offer gifts to your gods for being so kind to the undeserving you. If you are an atheist then you should send money to me instead ( my jaggadish cos you guys are so fucking stingy I don't expect anything but shit after this posting).
Hey look at yourselves in the mirror and thank god and SIA for providing you a job that pays for your children's education(tertiary included),your cars(some even drive brand new Mercedeses,BMWs, Lexus,Toyota and other expensive cars),condominium, landed properties in Singapore and Malaysia. Come on asses don't overvalue yourselves cos out here you are not even worth 10% of your current salary.

Retirement means death, Singapore's elder statesman says

Agence France-Presse - 1/14/2008 8:32 AM

Retiring to take it easy is a sure route to death, Singapore's 84-year-old founding father Lee Kuan Yew was quoted as saying Monday.

Lee, who remains active despite his advanced years, told a conference statistics show that people tend to die shortly after retiring, and that the most important lesson he has learned is that we all need stimuli.

"If you believe that at 55, you're retiring, you're going to read books, play golf and drink wine, then I think you're done for," he said in comments published by The Straits Times.

Lee retired as prime minister in 1990, but remains in the cabinet as Minister Mentor and is also chairman of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC).

He is a frequent speaker in Singapore and regularly conducts diplomatic missions abroad.

"I don't much like travel but I travel very frequently despite the jet lag, because I get to meet people of great interest to me," he said.

"It is the stimuli, it is the constant interaction with people across the world that keeps me aware and alive to what's going on and what we can do to adjust to this different world," he said.

Lee added that he asks people who want to retire at age 62, "You really want to die quickly?"

He said his advice is: "Keep yourself interested, have a challenge."

Lee was also quoted as saying that in his younger days he smoked, had a big belly, and "was really fond of drinking beer".

He said he enjoyed golf but later found it took too long, so he took up running instead.

In his early 70s, Lee had a stent installed in one of his arteries, he was quoted as telling the conference on Sunday after he made a whirlwind trip to visit the critically ill former Indonesian president Suharto in Jakarta.

Suharto, 86, suffered multiple organ failure on Friday and was hooked to a ventilator.

After he stepped down in 1998 after 32 years in power Suharto lived quietly at his modest Jakarta home.

PS: Now you know the reasons I passionately blog, spends hours on my PC and scolds people who misbehave here...lol

I started on this one

I started my flying career as a steward on the above aircraft, the Fokker Friendship 27. The passenger config was 20 maximum and the destinations were SIN,KUL,PEN and other Malaysian cities. The airline was Malaysian Singapore Airlines (MSA)(ceased operation since 30 September 1972)
SIA and MAS were the predecessors of MSA since 1 October 1972.

Ex cce SS Tan is wasting his precious time.

Ex cce SS Tan is wasting his precious time, not that he is still young. He is passed 62 and how long more time has he got? Still want to conduct talks for ppl who wanna be stewards and stewardesses. He is charging $50 per session and that's darn cheap.(One co. in Singapore is charging $210 for a session and its trainer is not even a cce before.)I also heard from the grapevine that he does not have many ppl attending his talks.
Yes one thing for sure these kids whose dreams is to be cabin crew with SIA but want only free advices and consultation. They come to my blog and bug me asking for this and that. Yet these misers and cheapskates spend hundreds and perhaps thousands of $$ on handphones,mp3,laptops,clothings etc.
Hey you cheapskates young punks don't come here and bug me ok and for goodness sake DON'T email regarding anything to do with your darn interviews.
This blog is for entertainment only. From now on,I won't answer queries on your interviews. Go to your SS Tan and he may entertain your FOC questions.

This is from a reader of my blog.

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Would appreciate it.":

There was a very hilarious incident involving this senior management member some years back.

It's annual D&D time again. An organizing committee is formed as usual, SIA is a big scrooge when it comes to allocating a budget. So the organizing committee has to sell the D&D tickets, even to non-company staffs.

Some of these tickets ended up with a group of Geylang hookers.

Come D&D day, this senior manager came with his wife, who is taller than him....When a senior manager sat at a table, everyone avoided him. But these hookers do not know him and sat all around him. Imagine 8 hookers surrounding him and his wife at a D&D table.

He stood up, shouted at the top of his voice and chased away all the hookers, went around the hall, and demand managers in his division to sit with him for the whole evening

Will the young, tall, fair male cabin crew stand up please!

There is a nice passenger who wants to compliment the above crew and I reproduced her email below:

Hi Boh Tong,

Thanks for your help. I would like you to publish the story, in the hope that the person concerned might see it. Pls include as follows :

I am a Sri Lankan lady residing in Dhaka and I was returning after my X'mas vacation to Dhaka through Sin on SQ436 on 5th January evening, seated at row 33C. The inflight service was super, especially the flight attendant serving us who was a young, tall, fair guy, unfortunately dont know his name. He was extremely nice and attentive and his service was par excellence !!

I wish to get in touch with him to thank him personally, as he was so freindly and treated the passengers well, which I know is very difficult on the Dhaka sector. I have travelled to Bangladesh many times, and this was truly a different flight as I was made to feel very comfortable on board. So if the person concerned sees this, kindly e-mail me on sharmi_fdo@yahoo.com or sharmi@ttsgmbh.net

Singapore Airlines stands by offer for China Eastern

Singapore Airlines (SIA) stuck to its position Monday, saying its offer to invest in China Eastern Airlines (CEA) at 3.80 Hong Kong dollars (45 US cents) a share is one that will bring long-term benefits to the Shanghai-based carrier.

SIA's plans to acquire a stake in the struggling Chinese carrier face a potential setback when CEA minority shareholders meet Tuesday to vote on the deal amid growing rumblings the offer price severely undervalues the company.

Air China's parent firm, China National Aviation Corp. (Group) Limited, said Sunday it was ready to pay at least five Hong Kong dollars a share if CEA minority shareholders rejected SIA's offer on Tuesday

My 2 cents worth:
Sure la the minority shareholders would reject SIA's offer of HK3.80 per share cos after all, China National Aviation Corp. (Group) Limited is offering minimum of HK$5.00 per share.
In my simple and humble opinion, minority shareholders should accept SIA's offer even though it is HK$1.20 lower than CNAC per piece. With SIA's participation in CEA, one would expect it to flourish and prosper. Therefore, it will be a long term investment and my bet is CEA will recover from its present position to be a strong and viable company. With another Chinese company having a big shareholding of CEA,it will be back to square one.
This may not be a good example but it is worthwhile talking about it. Remember the MSA case? Its successors were MAS and SIA. Now MAS is losing money year after year but SIA is making more and more profits every year.

They even skype me now!

Can't beat these SIA gals wannabes.Told them don't trouble me by emailing me regarding their interview things and now they skype me.

I don't want to come across as an unhelpful blogger but if you have any questions regarding the upcoming SIA cabin crew interviews please go to this blog and get professional help.
This blog is for entertainment basically and it takes a lot of time answering stupid questions(from my email also the 2 chat boxes on the left sidebar) from those interested in becoming cabin crew. Some of those absurd questions were :

  • I don't have 5 Os but do you think SIA will accept my application?
  • I am short like 1.56cm and do you think I stand a chance?
  • Are there SQ girls who are short?
  • Do you know whether any serving stewardess have crooked teeth?
  • I am a Malaysian and my spoken English is bad but do you think SIA would recruit me as I am a very pleasant person?
  • Do you think SIA would accept my diploma which was from a private institution?
  • My eye sight is poor but I want to be a stewardess. What is your opinion?
  • I broke my bond with SATS. Will SIA recruit me as a cabin crew?
  • Plus a hundred more silly, really silly questions...sigh...no wonder so many can't make it. Hey SIA want gals who are pleasant and have a little bit of brains too you know!

Btw if you are short, have crooked teeth, love to wear jeans, can't speak proper English and still want to be a crew, may I suggest you join as a cockpit crew(pilot la stupid!). Pilots don't have to face passengers you see and these days shortie can fly the darn planes too ( all computerised ok?).

Another SIA stewardess's Blog??

Can't believe that there are so many SIA gal blogs out there. Most are ex-stewardesses like Beh but this one is a serving flight stewardess whose mother and father were SIA cabin crew before.
Don't take any chances gal because SIA has this policy that a serving employee should not and must not blog about her job. Caught and you will be dismissed from your job. Not worth it Gloria (thats her "name")!

Tuesday, January 01, 2008

Critical stewardess,this one.

This newbie stewardess blogger is very critical of the staff at STC and I don't know how she gonna cope with her life with SIA. I will give her another year of flying and she would surely quit due to her pessimistic view of people. Negativity won't get you anywhere honey!

Omg today is his birthday and he looks younger than me ( we were borned in the same year)....anyway "Many Happy Returns of the Day to You"!

MAS (Malaysian Airlines System)'s Golden assets.

Faridah Abdul Rahman (in jacket) was a MAS crew trainer for 17 years after serving 12 years as a stewardess.

By ANDREW SIA

IT began as Malayan Airways Limited (MAL) in 1947, became Malaysia-Singapore Airlines (MSA) in 1967 and then into Malaysia Airlines System (MAS) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) in 1972.

After its take-off, MAS steadily climbed the commercial aviation stakes in its first 20 years.

Then it encountered serious turbulence after being privatised to Tajudin Ramli in 1994. The turmoil continued until late 2005, when new CEO Datuk Seri Idris Jala pulled MAS out of its nosedive.

In this second and final part of our report on MAS in conjunction with its 60th anniversary, we pay tribute to the airline’s greatest asset: its staff.

IN 1972, the bulk of Malaysia-Singapore Airlines (MSA) staff were based in Singapore and efforts were made to persuade the Malaysian personnel to return to Kuala Lumpur and help set up MAS. But fewer than 200 returned and indeed, this was an unsung act of patriotism on their part because the yet to be launched Malaysia Airline System (MAS) was an uncertain prospect.
