Alan so popular meh?

According to my poll,Alan the current President of SIASU (SIA Staff Union)is incredibly popular. Up till now 92% said he is doing a fantastic job.At another poll (right at the bottom right side bar)86% said Alan is an honest chap while only 6% claimed that Eddy the previous president was honest. Why the huge disparity? A few percentage points difference is understandable but a whopping 80% is mind-boggling. Can someone tell us why the big disparity?
Both men are still serving inflight supervisors with SIA.

Will tell you about our ex- SVPs

Wait till the polls closes and I will give you a run-down of all the former cabin crew senior vice presidents or cabin crew directors as they were known earlier.
I know each and everyone of them pretty well to give my 2 cents worth on their styles of leadership, character, temperament etc.
In fact, there was another SVP called Capt. Segar. He was the first SVP we had. He passed away in Perth,Scotland of throat cancer about a decade ago.

Finally that KNN Google unblocked my blog

Finally that KNN ( equivalent SOB in Hokkien) Google unblocked my blog. What's has gone wrong Google? Why locked my blogs esp. those with paid domain eg. http://www.bohtongplastic.com or http://www.bohtong1.com etc ?
For 1 week I was locked out of these blogs. No explanantion was given (I supposed they don't have to explain because they are the bosses).
I am willing to put all these nonsense behind me and like they always say "move on".

Overcharging at the Newton hawker center

DON'T want a shock when you get the bill for your seafood meal?

One of them said that customers could ask for their food to be weighed and the price calculated before confirming their order.

He said: 'Foreigners, especially, should ask to weigh first and confirm the price if they're afraid of being cheated.Click here for more

Even if you have the prawns or other food items weighed, how can you prevent the hawkers from switching your weighed items to smaller and lighter ones before cooking?

A serious allegation!

From the comments in the previous few postings of mine,I think the relevant authorities should look into the matter. There were many accusations of certain cabin crew being allocated better flights(means more earnings)than others.Senior male crew were alleged to have taken advantage of stewardesses because of their positions were also cited.
The allegation is serious and more so at a time like this when resources are scarce and crew are being asked to take unpaid leave.
They will also tarnish the good name of our airline.

Newton prawn hawker suspended

THE verdict is in: Stall No 43 at Newton Hawker Centre overcharged a band of American tourists who ate there last Saturday night.
Now, Tanglin Best BBQ Seafood will pay the price: It must shut down for three months from April 1, and the worker who served the Americans cannot work there for one year. For more click here

$239 for 8 tiger prawns

Tourists (from left) Sal Rubio, Dewi Rigby and Michael Rigby claim they were fleeced by a Newton food centre stall on Saturday. They paid $491 for a seafood dinner for six. -- ST PHOTO: MUGILAN RAJASEGERAN.
For full story click here.

(Reason I blog about the above is because the tourists may have been our (SIA's) passengers....hey I got SIA shares and am concerned too..hehehe).

The part that irks me was when questioned about the bill the hawker
"Seconds later, the man returned with four others, who he said looked to be in their 40s and well-built". Was the hawker trying to intimidate the tourists? Rough tactics should NOT be condoned in Singapore. S'pore Police Force should take note of this mafia typed approach.
It's sad that Mr.Rigby the American who comes here regularly told his newbie friends "how safe, clean and honest this island city was" and got .....
The above reminds me of the durian scam in Geylang where people had been overcharged.
I wonder how many cases of overcharging went unreported.
Mr. Rigby don't be so naivee because there are cheats in every country and S'pore is no exception.
Here is another case of complaint of overcharging

Recession? What recession?

During times like this where most are worried about their jobs, money, investment etc, I would rather visual how much money and wealth I can accumulate and make them come to me,just like a piece of iron attracted to a magnet.
A young reader of mine who is barely 33 years old and worth S$7 million told me money just keep coming to him, even at this time. You and I can be like him too.Just watch the video, visual and believe you can have all the wealth on this earth.

Cases of loved ones who left.....

Got to know a few cases of cc wannabes who finally got their dream job with cabin crew only to split with their loved ones.
Why is this so? Hmmm....some got their girlfriends/boyfriends left them vv because of jealously, possessiveness etc. It's really heartbreaking to hear their stories. But to those who left even before their bf or gf were involved emotionally or sexually with fellow crew,I've this message for you....you are not worth having as life partners! You can't even trust your loved ones so how can you ever share your selfish lives with them. Good riddance to bad rubbish! Hey guys there are better fishes in the sea so just cast your net wider.

A reader of mine left a comment under one of my postings and it goes like this (hope it's not true):

BAD NEWS for CABIN CREW,
the Management has sent out PLANNING to MOM about RETRENCHMENT, so even if the MGT tells you that they will not RETRENCH, some of us will be asked to RETIRE.

"So YOU wanna be a pilot? Simple. What do you have to do? Blog. What? That's it? Yes, you're reading it right. Blog," AirAsia said on its official website. Click this for more information.

Recession worse than SARS of 2003?

Many people are asking whether this global financial meltdown is going to affect SIA as badly as during the SARS crisis of 2003 or is it going to be worst.
During SARS, SIA was losing around S$2 million to S$3 million a day. SIA lost S$312 million in the first quarter of 2003, at the height of the outbreak of (SARS) severe acute respiratory syndrome. In the first quarter of 2004, it reported a profit of S$259 million. The turnaround was swift and SIA recovered.

Can SIA do it again this time around? Well,in the first place SIA is not losing any money at the moment. By the look of things, its profit may dipped severely but is still profitable. SIA has not pressed the panic button like in 2003 where it paid some staff to leave in the form of the"Golden Handshake" scheme. It also retrenched unproductive staff.

If you look around, the economic situation is really bad. People are being retrenched worldwide. Yes,millions in most major industries had lost their jobs. Singaporeans are not spared either.
How about the staff in Singapore Airlines? Anyone got retrenched recently as a result of the financial meltdown? None right?
The furthest it went was asking some pilots on the freighter to take no pay leave. In cabin crew, the members were ask to volunteer for no pay leave. No one,to my knowledge was given the "Early Retirement" nor retrenched.

In this trying times, people still have to travel. Many may have downgraded from prime class travel to economy class travel....but they still have to travel,be it being reallocated back to their head offices or being sent home after losing their jobs. Others still travel for businesses' sake and leisure.

The recent concluded travel fair in Singapore reported an increased in travel sales. While the number of visitors dropped 3.5 per cent, over S$45 million of travel sales was chalked up, compared to the S$50 million achieved in the previous year, when the economy was flying high
This year more Singaporeans are travelling and naturally SIA will benefit more from this.

A tribute to SIA

SIA, xie xie, thank you
Me 'O' level not from the U
Make me a flight steward
A kampong boy so backward

I was a pioneer with SIA
When you split from MSA
Kept me for donkey years
I worked without tears

Always enjoyed my time
With SIA,she's always kind
Sad to leave in 2003
But it's not for free

Paid me 25 months salary
That made me very happy
With free tickets somemore
SIA,you I really adore

Free travel for life
For me and my wife
I thank you for ur loving care
Till we bought your SIA share

At 18 we thought it's a good buy
Now at 9 we keep asking why
Stupid to buy at a price so high
I have to sell and say good-bye.

Make me your punching bag.

Some have called me names like "bootlicker","ball carrier","useless"...and all sorts. It's fine with me cos I will not file  defamation suit against useless beasts like that. I understand cc very well
At time like this when everyone in cabin crew is worried about being retrenched or contract not being renewed etc, it's understandable that one is frustrated and fearful. There is nothing much you could do but sit out the recessionary period and wait. You may have housing and cars loans to pay, credit card bills to settle and some loan shark payments to make or whatever bills to settled and are worried like hell. So you come here and throw your anger, frustration and the lot at me. To you,I say this: go ahead and let me be your punching bag. Do me a favour please, don't make others your punching bag. Fair? ...ok soot lah!
