A 53 year old man was caught placing 2 $100 chips on Banker (Baccarat game)after the result was declared. He is now out on $15,000 bail.
The casino must have handed the alleged cheat to the police.
Some years back a steward was caught doing the same but it was on a Roulette game in a London casino. He was banned from entering the casino but was never reported to the police. So this steward was lucky otherwise he would have been prosecuted and sacked from the airline.
Anyhow justice caught up with him a few years later and he was sacked for molesting a stewardess.

Should we let this person get away?
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Crew promotions and salary":
I am not sure why these cabin crew are paid higher than most other entry level degree jobs in the market. Air crew do not deserve getting paid so much for doing so little in the air. I work for an airline myself and if given the opportunity, would make cabin crew a thing of the past.

Resort World Sentosa Casino

The above casino opened its door on Chinese New Year Day 14 feb 2010 precisely at 12.08pm.
Thousands queued up and many were not allowed in at first due to the huge crowd and lack of space. The punters were foreigners and locals alike trying their luck at the poker machines,Blackjacks,Baccarat,Roulette tables etc.
I just wonder how many lost their pants over the last 2 days.
As far as I know it,many crew who gambled overseas in places like London,Australia,Las Vegas etc lost badly. There was a captain who committed suicide after losing ten of mi lions. Others were drove to bankruptcies, carrying drugs, gold smuggling, borrowing from loan sharks and selling away their cars and houses.
No crew, cabin and technical crew alike ever became rich through gambling in casinos.
If I were you, I won't even step into the casino, let alone pay a levy of $100.( I read in the ST that 3200 over S'poreans and PRs paid the levy when the casino opened its doors 2 days back)

About being sore with SIA
Let's put it this way la. Many of my colleagues were sore with the management for offering them early retirement.Well this soreness came only on hindsight. They wanted the cake and eat it. They had a choice either to accept the early retirement or stay on with the company. However,on seeing that SIA was losing hundred of millions during the SARS crisis they grabbed the offer rather than waited to be retrenched. As it turned out after a few months of leaving the co. SARS disappeared as quick as it came. SIA started to recover and made a tidy profit that year. The following year SIA made even a bigger profit and the staff were given 6 months bonuses. This of course made them regret for leaving.
There were a few of us who wanted to leave even before the SARS crisis but was disallowed. These few in my opinion do not feel sore with SIA. I was one of these few.

The above comment is uncalled for. Got to be kidding to say I am sore with management over my early retirement. I almost kissed (almost ah but didn't ok) Sim Kay Wee's (my ex SVP) ass for retiring me early. In fact, I have asked a few SVP before Sim to let me go but they didn't want to. Don't ask me why they didn't want to but my guess is that I was of value to cabin crew. The reason could also be these SVPs "don't wanna rock the boat".
Not that I am ungrateful to SIA for feeding me and my family but I should have scooted off much earlier in life than to waste almost three and the half decade of my life plodding along. I believe I could have done better in the outside world financially and happier.
To that "Anonymous" who accused me of "consistently over-rate" myself, I have this to say to: let my readers decide.

China fss booted at Beijing
An SIA China stewardess was offloaded at Beijing(disallowed to work back on the flight to S'pore)by an IA. Reason/reasons...not clear at this stage.
Before anyone jump to conclusion, the IA must have good and strong reason or reasons to kick the stewardess off the flight. But there again the reason/reasons a senior cc is allowed to offload a cc is when that cc is a threat to the passengers and safety of the aircraft. Can a stewardess fall into that category?
When I was a CCE, I have never had a reason to offload my junior crew. Most of them were good people out to make a decent living. There were a few irritating ones but we had to tolerate them.
This is hypothetical ok. Let's say the stewardess stole the IA's boy friend but then it's still not justifiable to rid the stewardess off the flight.
Let's leave the above issue to the union and management to come out with an amicable solution to the matter.
If the IA is at fault then this isn't the first time an IA is over reacting. Remember the case of a stewardess being reprimanded for travelling in a van to work?
Got rid of the CCEs and now you have cheaper training check crew (IA) and loads of problem. Thank goodness I have been "booted" out too...hahaha.

Travelling in a van
I understand a stewardess was pulled up by an I/A (Inflight Auditor which is equivalent to a CCE (C/T)but drawing a lower salary)for travelling in her father's van to the airport.
She was told by the I/A she shouldn't go to work in her uniform in a van.
We know perfectly well that a uniformed crew is prohibited from travelling in the public transport like MRT and buses to work but I am baffled to hear that she was chided for travelling in a van.
What's wrong with riding in a van? Isn't an ambulance a van too? SQ 006 crew injured in the Taipei plane crash were ferried in ambulances which were also vans.
I still remember vividly that once upon a time the crew transport was made up of vans. Our old ah pek and ah soh crew in the 1960s and early 1970s had vans transporting them from their home to the airport vice versa in company's uniform.
Come on la I/A dun be yaya papaya la. So act C ah?
Heard the poor stewardess dare not mention to her dad about the telling off she got from her superior. She,from that occasion onwards would make all sort of excuses to her dad not to drop her off at the departure area but at some distance away. KNN

Crew issue moved to next door blog
In all fairness to the majority of my non SIA cabin crew visitors I have now moved all issues concerning SIA cc eg. union issue, crew grievances, domestic politics etc to a new blog at http://crewissue.blogspot.com
This old blog will be dedicated to stories and gossips about crew and passengers.
As for cabin crew, you may visit the other new blog. But it does not mean that you or non crew are restricted to a particular blog. Please feel free to visit and comment on any of the blogs.
