I am no expert in economics or the medical field but I wish to express my thought on the current pandemic and the global economy.
The world cannot go on the way it is. Closing one's border is not a practical way. It can caused the world's economy to collapse and hurt millions around the world. Covid-19 will not kill as many people as a dysfunctional economy can. Poverty and hunger can kill many and suicide is not excluded.
The world is interdepend on one another. Tourism and related activities are important to the survival of many. Therefore, my suggestion is to open the borders and allow people to travel. It will not only boost the airline and tourism industries but the world trade as well.
For a start, all countries should allow Covid vaccinated people from other countries to enter without restriction. Sure, the visitors should observe some protocols like wearing of masks, social distancing etc.
We are not sure how long more this pandemic would last but it has been a year. What will happen if it goes on for another one, two or maybe five more years? Are the borders going to be closed for that long?

Until then, what do you suggest CC should do in the meantime in this limited job market? Or when they've family/house loan to pay?
They know their passive basic pay from SIA isn't gonna last them for another 2/3/4/5 years. Govt/SIA will run out of money and CC coffee and tea skills isnt hard enough to get decent paying jobs.
Lesson learnt: Gone are the days flying is a stable job. Never look down on ground jobs.
Some of the cc have gone into food business while others are Grab drivers.
Why do you keep saying cc should never look down on ground jobs?
cos when times were good, those crew looked down on ground jobs. They thought theu were god chosen and living the fast and high life. They thought they were 'liked' and have a lof of friends by being constantly glued to their h/p w/o realising they were actually nobodys. It took a virus to make them realise how worthless they actually are despite being told they were professionals and highly sought after every PFS

You nailed it to the point Boh Tong and gang can't refute the truth of the value of life after being a CC.
CC had to resort to being Grab drivers/food deliverers.
The 'highly sought after' mantra that CC was brainwashed during their training meant nothing when the virus halted their lifestyle for years to come.
