Cases of Covid are going up instead of down

Now it's reported that there is a third and fourth wave of Covid infection in France, Germany, India and   others. I heard over the news that certain part of India has seen 90,000 new cases a day and 40,000+ in France etc. Lockdowns will be imposed or have already been imposed in the abovementioned places. If the coronavirus infection does not subsided then many airlines including Singapore Airlines and tourism related industries will be badly affected. I also heard that the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius is now in lockdown.
Things aren't getting better. In fact, the future, at least in the next year or so looks pretty bad. Vaccines do not seems to help and so I think we need divine intervention.

You are correct,BT !Opening bubbles and travel corridors,Covid is no respector of rules, scary it might be.Now its BC,before Covid and AC,after covid.Vaccinations not a cure yet,one dont need wars, nor religious strive, and they said, new normal means isolation, distancing, masking up.Denier, anti vaccers does self destruct their own kind, the meek shall rule the earth.Depopulation will make the world a better place,it seems, more resources.Hard choices, hard truth.Amen.

Nothing to worry about. By the end of the year, most part of the world would have acquired herd immunity by then due to intense vaccination programs.
It would be a disaster if the new variants of covid 19 cannot be counteract by the vaccines available, then we have to press the panic button.

Hi Boh Tong

Can FA do Grabdriver/-deliverer in places like Maldives or Paris?

Hi Boh Tong

Can passenger request meals such as prata? We pay premium pricing so the expectation of good dining and food choices should be there as well.

Packed aircraft food is a no-no in the long term.

Boh Tong aka Luke Tan said...

Anon, answer to your 1st question is no as far as SIA is concerned.
2nd Q the answer is yes if your are a first/business class pax.

You sure premium pax pay premium price to eat peasant food? what a irony? peasants hanker for atas food like caviar and steak pr omakase while our premium writer hankers for peasant food like prata, carrot cake, laksa

The most peasant metality are our prized drivers. Their choice of main courses are so predictable. They always aim the peasant choice such as noodles, dim sum etc. They get v upset when doing hk-sfo they dont get their onboard wanton mee or the japanese choice when doing tyo-lax.

Omg,in covid times, still want BC meals money can buy.Imo,should be how to ensure covid free, toilet, cabin reengineered to be tranmission free, and covid proof. It wont be good to be transmitter or receiver of covid, time to descend to ground reality.Ultra rich can fly their own jets, those who cannot stop being transmitter, one way or another,60000 cases not a proud records. Some transport will never recover, covid will evolve to the max to confound mankind, herd mentality only for animal, complex human activities, interaction spreads covid, light still not seen at end of tunnel, only fake news.

why come on flight must eat prata, nasi lomak, carrot cake etc? Not sick of these food in SGP when you can eat everyday or find anywhere? Like what the above posts say, sit biz or first class but cant get rid of the sinkie peasantness in you.

SQ smart to offer hawker style foods for all classes.
The cost is very, very cheap.
Like fried bee-hoon in ECL or Chye-tow kueh in JCL and Dim Sum in FCL

Unlike in the 80s, there were french styled menus even in ECL such as Beef Tournedos
and big portioned too. With Pate foie gras as a starter in ECL. There was even croissants in the EY for breakfast.. with butter and preserves such as orange marmalade

But people have forgotten about such menus as all they focused on was the ticket price
and with lower prices came cheaper foods. This idea of cheap foods soon crept into First & Business class. With First & Business class having cheap hawker fares such as prawn noodle soup and laksa.

Funny thing is that travellers seem to like such choices.. !!
I think they ( the first & business travellers) were too conscious too be seen eating such foods in public at hawker centres and food courts.

Imagine if you were the CEO or Chief financial officer seen eating at Amoy Street hawker centre during lunch time???

Best place would be on board an aircraft hidden from public view... 1 or 2 other pax see you its ok... they too ordered nasi lemak... ha! ha!...

CEO and CFO never heard of grabfood, deliveroo, foodpanda etc? Plus peasant food are now re created and sell at 10x the original prices eg nasi lomak at coconut club, chicken rice at chatterbox, coolie bak kut teh at song huat, peasant bread at Yakun or toastbox etc.

Can FA wear wireless earpiece to listen music when serving passengers? Like 1 ear wearing the earpiece while the other, scouring for passenger enquiries.

It can be a effective communication tool esp for IFM/Chief to summon you, the junior FA to galley without walking to you to see them.

Boh Tong aka Luke Tan said...

Anon it is a no no :)

Should have anti hijack measures, comms with cockpit thru earpiece.Day will come when hi tech service via earpiece for FA,contactless and instantaneous.Knowing how conservetive the airline, wait long long, till no pax left ,and death dive .Innovation favours vietair or new startup.Just my opinion.

why dont wear bodycams or helmets with live cams in that case of hijacking is of such concern? Does high jacking takes place daily? If government and airlines have done ample checks and deterrents on ground, is there a need for your earpieces?
Plus to the above posts about listening to music when serving pax, a crew is employed to work onboard, not listen music. If you must have music then you can function, either go see and doctor first on you dependency or find a job that allows you to listen to music eg DJ, security in mall, grab driver

Fyi,latest are gen x,it literate, zoom class in covid time.Next in line, covid terrorism, vial of covid material, spread on board.Unthinkable ?Improbable ?Zealots might think otherwise, settling differences by mass infection.Nuclear contaimination, spudnik vaccine, doubt western nation jump to it,nor their key men.I was in chicago when 911 happens. To get ahead of the curve,in terrorism, counters measures need to be alert, for food chain safety in all nation. In some plots in novel,it might come to live.Transportation seems to be weak point to terror proofed.Every flight in El Al carries air marshall, one can bet they use comm device in their earpiece via the cockpit. One have not come to that point yet in all airline, measures are measures,no guarantee complete protection.

Hi Boh Tong

Am I right to say if CC wants to make more money? They have to keep flying?

Boh Tong aka Luke Tan said...

Anon, yes u r right because 2/3 of their income
are derived from incentive flying and meal allowances.

Anon said...

Hi Boh Tong

Whilst employed as CC, can CC do part-time insurance/housing agent on their off days? Is this allowed by SIA?

Boh Tong aka Luke Tan said...

Yes CC is allowed to do part-time work but first need to seek approval
from SIA.

Anon said...

Hi Boh Tong

Is it right to say CC, say SG-NYC non-stop flight of 17+ hrs, 3/4 of the time is standing and serving passengers, the only time is their 3hr bunk rest and seat on jumpseat during take-off and landing?

Boh Tong aka Luke Tan said...

Anon, I am not sure as I've never done this type of flights as they were
non-existent during my time. I will have to check it out.
