It has been two years and the Covid-19 virus aren't going away. Current variant called Omicron has mutated from the deadly Delta parent. Omicron is at least three times more infectious and transmissible than Delta.
Due to the transmissible nature of Omicron, many countries are again closing their borders. Japan does not allow foreigners to enter its country, USA requires a Covid19 test 24 hours before arrival, Singapore make it mandatory for inbound travelers to be tested daily for seven straight days upon entry etc.
The closing of borders and banning travelers into the countries will have a negative impact on the airline and tourism sectors. SIA shares has taken a hit again after gaining some ground before the appearance of Omicron.
The question now is how long more this pandemic will go away? With the new variant, my guess is....for a long time. Then what will happen to our beloved SIA??

Totally agreed with the above. Some establishments simply wanna scare us and in process benefitting from our fear.
Omicron is the same as the Great Flu Epidemic after Ww1.However,it kills more people than ww1,Ww2 combined.The good it trims the world population,the bad it's evolved to superspreading by the air we breath.Airplane are not designed to stop the virus in the air.Till then,air travel will be badly affected,no end in sight yet.Jmo.
Amazing that people generally are tolerant of restrictions.
Singapore or elsewhere.
Who bears the costs for extra checks at hawker centres, food courts, malls?
All the equipment & manpower and stickers free of costs?
And all business owners are happily checking and restricting, just to identify 160,000 unvaccinated?
And now the kids are being jabbed too... kids?... how many kids have died, or badly injured since pandemic started? Is there medical evidence or not??
Meanwhile, the gates are wide open for VTL..
Somethings just do not add up...
Countries and airlines will come together and try to come up with new effective measures to enable the travel of the human species.
If all else failed, then most airlines will fall. SIA and Singapore will have to put on their thinking caps to work out solutions to survive.
Terminal 5 can be considered as a JINK terminal.
What is happening now is actually payback time when human goes against Nature? We have overindulged, utilised the earth resources to the extent that it is unable to replenish itself naturally.
This was how the dinosaurs became extinct. Nature decided to clear them off the planet because they will exploiting the earth resources through their ever-growing numbers and sizes.
If our scientists cannot keep ahead of the covid virus and if the virus can mutate to a deadly one, then the human species will become an engendered one.
With humans gone from Earth, the planet will regenerate and become green again. This is the cycle of the universe.
Don't believe me. Well remember when: Christopher Columbus stated that the world is round everybody said that he was an idoit, how could the planet ever be round, cannot be lah.
Eh.... the world is indeed round. Everybody is wrong indeed except Christopher. Hehe.
Be careful human or u will be gone from this planet.
For now it is a matter of who is more intelligent, the Covid virus or human.
Agreed totaly.Days of Service excellence etc,in covid time,become covid friendly.Once some airline opens to VTL or any other schemes,the virus evolves much faster.One can only pray that it slows down,karma will come in.No AO,Am or whoever can best the virus,seeing the past practice of hr dept.They rid those who rebelled against the repetitious and futile sop of service,promoted those who suck up these are the sign of the worse in thoughts.In their coconut shell,they got away,this covid shell seems to be smarter,if natural law justice,fairness prevail,evil like isis will be destroyed by the will of the world.Right is might,it kills all wrong.So wise up pray for forgiveness collect good karma or you deserves what you get.
Covid will end, perhaps by end 2023 or in 2024.
But restrictions will continue against the unvaxxed.
vaccine passes will continue..
Contact tracing will continue..

SQ and smaller ones without domestic markets will struggle a slow death.
