My response to the negative comments

Below are some of the negative comments regarding the cabin crew job. My response to the comments are in red. There are countless such comments. Don't really know who these people are but my guess is ex cabin crew who for some reasons retrenched or sacked by SIA and some members of the public.

1) It's true CC can visit many places in few years than most people in lifetime - the job shouldn't be a lifetime career. Just ask the senior crew who still 'stuck in the air' after 30+ years because once grounded, it's taxi driving time. (Some PMET replaced by foreigners are also driving taxis and Grab)

2) Hi Boh Tong, you can share this article on your blog for CC to know that age 40 is hard to get a job unless wanna be taxi driver, etc..(Cc can work beyond 40. Even then what's wrong with driving taxis?)

3) So, CC have to be sure that it's the job they want to do next 30 years (Cc can quit anytime and they will be paid gratuities by SIA. Which companies pay their staff when they resigned?)

4) Those 5 O levels or nitec people lor. Beats doing grab anytime (Nothing wrong with driving Grabs or taxis. It pays relatively well. Besides one can use the cars and taxis for their family and leisure)

5) there is no status and glamour as a crew in the first place (Which job has glamour and status...politicians, pmets?)

Hi Both Tong

True, CC can quit anytime. But if they quit after age 30?

What jobs can they do?

Coffee and tea will not land them a office job unless wanting to be a ground waitress with less pay and long hours, no rest...

Also, they won't get their graduity if they quit before end 5-year contract. Don't forget have to pay taxes, haha.

Last thing, Pmet become taxi driver because of COVID which reduces job vacancies. If economy back to normal, they can re-apply back as they've relevant experience.

What about CC? I don't think they can do the same...

Who is trying to give fake narrative that cc are well desired in our workforce ?Then call them manager, controlling coffee, teapots and subservient to amdk, fawning them disregarding the rest. Its time someone tell the truth, such skills,if they are skills, ownselve rated in real world, not skills, won't pay much when the new economy take off.Fallback, grab, taxi etc.Fair warning to them, time will tell, and the money doesn't come, reality sets in,could be endless rejections and then the truth, when money is tight, the pain is worse.God help them all !

But during PFS, i was told repeatedly we are professionals and highly sought after in outsude world leh. Tell us that the skills taught to us are what outside companies want and trying to achieve leh.

The experienced ones will be sought after because of the skills shortage and because it has become harder to employ foreigners.

A lot of people lost their jobs and some saw their income halved so the government want these guys to fill the vacant positions.

So if you're ex cabin crew, don't give up just yet!
