Reading between the lines, does it mean SQ's Biz Class and Economy Class were not rated the best?

Hi, BT, thought I share my experience on 2 flights, namely:-

Ho Chi Minh City to S’pore on EY Class

As we all know, it is a short flight and it can be very challenging for the crew to give full service (even without any interruption from turbulence). I was on a return flight with a group of colleagues and wanted to get something from in-flight sales. I used a purchase slip (from KrisShop), marked the items, seat number and passed it to a FSS, who took it and tucked it somewhere in her uniform. After the meal service, and as the flight was preparing to land, I was still waiting for the item I ordered. I saw the FSS at the other aisle checking on the passengers on wearing their seatbelt and gave a gentle wave with a hand signal to ask for the item. She looked at me sternly and replied in a raised voice, “I am very busy now. Anyway, we are going to land” and walked on. The FSS, who was also checking on passengers at my aisleway, was quite taken aback and gave me a puzzled look – probably because of her colleague’s behaviour. The flight landed and I did not get the item. As the item was one I could get it elsewhere, I left it as that. But what happened surprised me. As I was retrieving my hand carry from the overhead compartment, the Leading Steward approached me and quietly slipped 2 packets of SIA Playing Cards into my hands and whispered into my ears, “So sorry, the gal forgot about your order. Please accept my apologies”. I guess the FSS walking at my aisleway could have raised this at the rear galley. I was very impressed with his service discovery. He must have been looking hard to get a gift for me and the playing cards were available. I replied, ”aren’t you going to wish me good luck with the cards?” We (including my colleagues) had a good laugh. I would have written in to commend the Leading Steward but did not do so as I would have to cite the incident and the stewardess would probably get an earful.

Tokyo to S’pore on Biz Class

I was in the aisle seat and beside me (window) was a male passenger. The stewardess assigned to my section happened to be a Japanese stewardess. What happened during the flight was quite interesting, amusing (at least to me). I noticed that the stewardess was paying particular attention to the passenger next to me. Non-stop checking on him if he needed anything as if I wasn’t there. Even when she was in the galley, I could see her popping her head out to look at him to check on him. Her attention was so intense that I would have thought that, if that passenger sneezed, she would rushed to him with a piece of tissue paper”. She was serving other passengers well, except that she went beyond the extra mile for that passenger and it was rather obvious. Later into the flight, I noticed her absence and another stewardess was around. Nearer to landing, when I was heading for the washroom, the IFM approached me, apologised and explained that the passenger next to me was a SQ Captain and the stewardess was a Japanese. He added that Japanese culture accord great importance to ranking hierarchy. I told him I did not complain. What he told me was surprising. The person who complained was the Captain. Apparently, he went up to the IFM and said he was very uncomfortable and asked for her to be moved away and, also, to apologise to me. I got back to the seat, chatted up the Captain, told him I wanted to be a CC but got turned down. I also dreamt to be a pilot and that did not work out also. We chatted all the way till landing.

In both instances, I must say the CCs were great and the way the Leading Steward and IFM handled the situation was extremely cool. I would certainly vote SQ as Best Biz Class and Best EY Class and it’s a pity SQ was not voted as such in both these classes.
