A tribute to "Papa Chiang"

The late Lawrence Chiang was a soft spoken and kind hearted man. It was an honor to have him as a colleague. In all the years I've worked with him, I have never seen or heard him losing his cool. To his trainees, he was affectionately known as Papa Chiang because of his fatherly figure.
Many years ago, a passenger abused him on our flight. Lawrence was as timid as a mouse even though he was bullied by that nasty passenger he did not retaliate. I was so upset with the passenger and told him to take me on when we arrived at our destination. That coward backed off. In fact I had forgotten about the incident until much later when Lawrence told me what had happened. We had a good laugh.
There was a colleague who used to take advantage of Lawrence. This guy used to be broke due to his habitual gambling. Whenever he needed money to gamble or settle his debts, he would asked Lawrence. They would go to the ATM at STC and Lawrence would withdraw money for him. Such was the generosity of Lawrence.
We will miss him and may he RIP!
