I beg to differs. The role of the flight crew are multifaceted, leading to a safe landing.Let's not focus on food ,which is solely thru the C.C.They shall not be deprived of this at all time.Personality shall not be the sole judge of them, calling them names shows the quality of the judge, dont forget we got the AO who standby on the mapco oven on the flight to HK.Or the hungry ghost IFS,who ate all the rice portion of FC,after service. These are brow raising moments, laughable, but sad,a social observation, that is best forgotten.Safe landing in one piece are the basic hallmark of a flight, the rest blemishes, just like a pimple, best let it run.

Base on the above comment, safe landing and ensuring the safety of paxs etc are the things a pilot is paid for. Other aspects from the cabin crew perspective are whether a pilot would fight with the cabin crew over food and drinks, whether the cc introduced themselves etc are the hallmark of a respected pilot.

For viewership and populist, stir the matters up,till a divide created. Then incident happens based on luck, skill, lives are saved, all matter not worth pursuing, especially food. One cannot dismiss a Captain, worth million to train, over such minor items. It shows the professionalism of CC.This issues of cheapskate are really dependent on take-off time, whether food court are available. In Changi Airport now, prices reasonable, and aplenty.Maybe it happened when the airport were younger and infrastructure bad, putting shortsighted bureaucrats thinking on bottomline and lacked of funding.Changi rated the best,so it won't happen again,or it shall be media shamed.
