Sunny Kam and Hiyashi chuka

This hiyashi chuka, a cold noodle dish which the Japanese eats during the hot summer. This dish brings back memory of Sunny Kam who passed away recently.

It was 1988 when Sunny who was a cs then that I flew with him to Fuk. We had a few days in Fuk.

One afternoon we ordered hiyashi chuka for lunch. When our orders arrived, Sunny was shocked to find the noodles were cold. He called the waitress and complained that the noodles were cold. Little did we realised that the dish was supposed to be cold. There was a commotion as we could not speak Japanese and the waitress could not speak English. Sunny was angry and demanded the staff replaced the cold noodles with something hot. Again due to both parties unable to understand each other there was chaos. Some customers tried to help but to no avail. To the Japanese there was nothing wrong with the cold noodles but to Sunny noodles should not be served or eaten cold.

After much frustration, we left the restaurant. Later we found out that there was a misunderstamding.

Anonymous may be a cockpit crew

 Anonymous

Last year my bonus was almost 160k, this year only 149k. I don’t eat like a pig on board .. in fact I try not to eat aircraft food because it’s crap food. I will bring and eat my own food, unless circumstances don’t allow me to do that. Sometimes cabin crew think that I am boycotting them, and wonder why this captain doesn’t require any food and drink or any service. So I have to explain that I don’t fancy the food on board, and just need a big bottle of mineral water to last the whole flight. If I’m really hungry, then I’ll just eat whatever is available.Unfortunately, it’s true that there are pilots ( captains and first officers) who eat like pigs😬 Same for some cabin crew too .

Still wants to be a steward after retiring from Singapore Airlines

She used to doze off at the hotel lobby

The stewardess who used to sleep in the Tokyo hotel lobby has passed away. Her name was Dorothy Wilson. Reason she did not check into her hotel room was because she was scared of ghost. She won't want to share room with the other stewardesses and so each time she was rostered for a Tokyo nightstop she would stay in the lobby. Anyway the crew arrived at the hotel around 9pm and would leave for the next day flight at about 7am.
