Will the current recruitment be successful?

According to Straits Times 2,379 cabin crew left SIA between March 2020 and 2021. Now with more VTL opening up, SIA requires more crew. ST does not know how many crew does SIA requires. However, my guess is between 700 and 800 crew. The question now is how many would want to join SIA? Not many I guess as the conditions are not as favorable as prior to Covid days.

To begin with, I don't think the crew will have "long" nightstops overseas. They may slipped into a station after a long grueling flight and allowed the minimum hours of stay as required by law. Another reason may be due to the restriction of movement during their nightstops. They may not be allowed to leave the hotel rooms due to the on going pandemic. I think it will be good if the airline can clarify the above 2 points.

The above is my personal opinion and I may be wrong (I hope I am wrong).

When they need crew they embrace crew, when they don't need crew they just retrench them.

Agreat way to fly

what's the point of being a crew when you have to spend your allowances on expensive room services while being locked as a "bubble" Even more so if it's a VTL flight.

cannot even earn money, what more saving money. Alternatively you can have canned/instant food galore in your room, but you're still locked in room anyway.

Don't think it will be successful and meet their req manpower unless they start recruitment from other countries as well.

Starting the SG recruitment is a requirement before they can start hiring foreigners or else there will definitely be backlash on SQ.

When got Covid ,it's not a great way ,spreading to those closest,by fake vaccer, certificate, entitled anti masker.Unless insurance covers, payout substancial, not worth the pain.Staying in for duration, akin to living jail.Jmo.

With the impending GST hike, locals may prefer something more secure.

When there's a major pandemic, the Hospitality and Tourism industry is always the worst affected.

Many are concerned about long term job security rather than status and glamour.

there is no status and glamour as a crew in the first place

SIA cabin crew has a toxic culture. The management is even more screwed up.

Toxic culture at the expense of the crew.Doubt they notice it or ignore due to kpi.1 set of crew on long flight, incentivise to 2 time ifa.How do one sleep on first rest when the physical work involves being awake doing service.Penalties for reporting sick, without promotion etc.Unionist looking after they own promotion instead of members interest.Dysfuntional system in place, failing to recognise, taking corrective actions, promoting lassie and gayee over normal family orientated.Wishing for good karma from current and past crew hardly forthcoming, notice the few sagas unsolved.Covid is time for reflections and remorse, hardly any glamor, toilet cleaning, covid endemic destination and people does not help.Let us pray they change for the better, karma is real and at current status, lacking.Need more prayers and good karma, let us pray.
