No video on the pros...

I will not be uploading the video on the pros of becoming a cabin crew as Sunny has said that "even if you add another 100 cons to the job you will still get people applying". I totally agree with Sunny.

You see, everybody loved and live to try to see the world for free. So who wouldn't want to be a CC for a short duration. U better jump on it before u reach a certain age and cannot qualify.

Hi, Sunny Gale, I wanted to many years back but SQ wasn't kind to me. All I could do was to listen to my friends' experience with wide open eyes as they tell me about Taj Mahal, London and many other places which were beyond my reach at that time.

Ah Aka kaypoh...l have a hunch u r an ex CC with at least a ranking of chief or IFM.
U r too knowledgable to not be an ex crew, hehe. Lol.

Hi Luke,
May l suggest u change the name of your blog from just boh tong to Cabin crew blog by boh tong.
U see, l realised that without anyone recommending me to your blog, l did not know about its existence.
Anyone looking for cabin crew news wouldn't type boh tong in the search engine website. They r likely to type cabin crew first, isn't it?
Unless u r Elon Musk, nobody will even think of this name boh tong.
If there is no technicality to the name change, u should change strategy to harness readers.
What do u think? Any technicality preventing a change here?
Please enlighten me. Tks.

Hi, Sunny Gale, sorry to say you are incorrect. Most of my knowledge of CC matters were based on what was related by my 2 buddies. We would meet up usually to talk about their trips. As my pen name, KayPoh, implies, I would always ask them about their trips. To them, they were excited about it and, for me, I listened with awe and envy.

I moved on, but we continued to be buddies to this day. Like some posters here, they also went through some unpleasant experiences but took it as part of their job. I kept on telling them that I envied them because, if they ever had to work under a nasty Senior Chief Steward (now IFM), the good thing was they won't be seeing him for quite a while, Unlike me and others in many occupations, when we get a nasty boss, we see them every day unless we change job. And we would always laugh on this topic.

Hi Sunny....my blog title or heading is "S'pore Airlines (SIA)cabin crew/flight attendant stories by Boh Tong ex cabin crew of 35 years"

SUNNY GALE said...

Hi Luke,
Somehow your heading is too complicated and long-winded.
When l type Singapore Airlines blog, l did not see your blog in the result page.

I see aka. Anyway it's nice to have you on board and nice to read your comments. U would have been a great IFM if u have been a crew.

Hi, Sunny Gale, thanks for your kind words. Who knows? If I am the IFM, I might be a nasty one and be the PITA. From my observations of working life, I always felt that it is very easy for an outsider to criticise someone who is handling any matter. Similarly, it is also very easy to be for an outsider to be the white knight.

That said, we live and let live.

I remember that, in those days (mid-70s), when the 3 of us applied for the CC job, we only see it as a flight steward. We were not aware of any details of the job on board because we did not have any CC friends. There were also not many around who were CCs, and social media was non-existent. Nowadays, the CC wannabes will probably have friends, or friends of friends, who are CCs. There's also social media (Youtube) to have a grasp of CC lifestyle.

Life is so much convenient nowadays, but I wouldn't say the same for work processes and this apply throughout and not limited to CCs.

Noticed that the comments were from one who lamented on lost opportunity, last years,as CC wannabe, and another not CC.Not to be exclusive and xenophobic,it showed censorship is not practical when you want readership,a blog is not ministerial outpost, far from it,arguing over nitty gritty on whether the title best describe the subject blogged, searchable gets no fan nor interest. Those who want to be CC,do not need help nor coaching,or reslly look disgusting ,eventually they will be out due to the strict standard of CC.Certainly got lots of choices if 100 apply hype. Then the new sagas appear, realisation of reality sets in,and the cycle repeat, rinse again as they said.jmo.

Without censorship, the blog will get no comments coming because it is spoilt by those adverse troll commenters. It puts people off commenting. Now that it is getting healthier and people r coming in to comment, don't make the fatal mistake of allowing the troll to come in and destroy your blog again.
U realised your censorship has frustrated them and l think they will realise that they will have to be responsible, respectful and able to contribute in their comment before it can be posted.
So keep it this way bec l could see many comments nowadays and your blog is getting more interesting as well.

The state Censor the message to the public,a blog directed the blog's objective and interest,it's never censoring ,only on pain of law of the land if subject written deviates. The Blogmaster deletes or do whatever to comments which he deems not print or viewworthy. To cut to the chase,Kaypoh tries to lament his lost youth, while Sunny tried to have idealised view, expat views sans sagas and so on.Of course, these causes alarm to those who were affected by strong handed tactics of Sexcy,High Handed IFM etc. Trying to portray eveness, fairness will only get Tsunami of Comments ,just like Vanessa's,fake comments you will get brickbat.Call them troll or whatever,in fact some of the comments were better than the threadstarter. To Kaypoh, you gone a different path, for the good or even better, some who were sacked would chose your path and live your life again.SQ 6 took some of the best of the crew life, including the chief, who was the brother of Anandan Subhas. His wife Josephine,I met on the flight to Perth. The Sars took off the job of the AO, said fairly some said unfairly. Normal employee, can be after a time be promoted or travel up the rank, just like Sexcy .The LS and the 8,anyone can see it coming ,a dysfunctional Union, all for themselves, during DI,the then Union Chief was seen jogging in ECP. So much for dedication, only way to fight unfair dismissal is to fight in the court of law, admissible, inadmissible, words wholly not in the mind of the unionist, except the late Doraisamy. The deeper and longer one stayed inside the more it uncover for the good or bad it's just an opinion.
