Isn't being a cabin crew better?

Many said that flying as a cabin crew has no future. But I know of a case of 2 ex classmates whom I will compare here, how they fared after finishing school. Lets name them as A and B. Both are now 50 years old.
After finishing "A" level A became a steward with SIA while B furthered his studies in Australia. Upon graduation, B immigrated to Australia. He job-hopped because he was dissatisfied with the jobs he was doing However, A is stuck with SIA and is now a chief steward. B was retrenched during the pandemic and is still unemployed.
In Singapore, A owns a 5 roomed HDB flat while B is renting a place in Australia. Both own a medium size car. I was told A has 2 children and B has none. A has a savings of at least S$50,000 while B has no savings. In fact B is on the dole which is about $1,000 a month. A as a chief steward is drawing a monthly take home pay of about $5,000.
Who is doing better....A or B?

Don't have to take a genuis to know. Of course A is in a better shape financially than B!

For every specific case, there is another that is entirely the opposite.

How about one that worked and became a branch manager with higher earnings and
a brighter future than the crew still as LS?

Generally, being a flight attendant does not offer better growth in terms
of economics. Going up the ranks is usually a given as long as the airline
keeps expanding.

Working in other jobs on the ground can offer better prospects in terms of
hopping from one job to another to learn new skills, knowledge and sharpen abilities.

As a flight attendant, it can get mundane after 10-15 years. Of course, there
are different aircraft types, cities and situations. But essentially its the same process.

In 10-15 years, a ground job can be switched 3 maybe 4 times, just to find
a good match in salary, roles & functions, new skills, a wide network of ex-colleagues.

Crew are stuck, though it is said that you seldom fly with the same people.
That in itself appears good but there is so many limited ways you can push or pull a trolley, a cart, stack cups, and say "welcome back Mr Tan" .

And you would have lost all your microsoft office suite skills... though your Tik-Tok skills may improve... but how useful would that be ?

What future are you talking about? Those O levels that joined in the 80s and 90s have what future? 5kat that time means alot already. What can they do now? Its all about money. They also say footballers have no future cos at most playfrom 18 yrs old to 33 yrs old. But what those footballers in elite leafyes earn in 1 week is more than what ppl earn in a lifetime. So what if they give you 50 to 52 to 55 to 57?

Thanks for making a sensible and rational statement Anon.

Boh Tong is trying hard to sell and make CC a viable career.

We all know now that the golden age of SQ earning big bucks in this high inflation environment is gone long ago after the emergence of Middle Eastern Airlines and SQ refusal to pay fairly to its staff despite record profits year after year.
