Not in a million years
Many years ago I privately told my then svp about employing foreign crew from Asia but he arrogantly brushed me aside and told me not in a million years. He said he did not want SIA to be like CX but now who is right?

Environment, technologies and times have change humans' perspective. What is in now might be out tomorrow or total opposite 😁😁😁
I won't say who is right.... hindsight is always 20/20. Different times, different circumstances.
But, let's take your viewpoint. If SIA had a majority of foreign crew, and COVID came. SIA would not be able to pay for the salaries and would have to retrench a big percentage of crew. Now with the opening, the only reason why SIA could mount so many flights in a short time, is because of the Singaporean crew that were kept on the payroll.
So, if any of us can foretell the future, we'd all be Billionaires by now.
I've always hated the arrogance of people who say "I told you so!"

I think the staff deserves the bonus after what they had gone through during the pandemic.
