Shorter walk-in interview

There was a cabin crew walk-in interview in Singapore last Saturday. The turnout was quite poor as compared to other walk-in interviews. There was no queue I was told. Poor SIA! Why are young Singaporeans shunning the cabin crew job? Is it due to the salary, working condition or people are simply not interested in the flying job anymore?
For SIA the alternative is to fill up the cc job with more foreigners. The young ones from India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand etc are dying to don the Balmain kebaya. Would employing foreigners a good alternative? What do you think my dear readers?

It's like nurses during covid ,underpay, front for the virus ,while managler directs safety from a safe distance.First to get infected, spread and at that point in time, deadly ,with no cure in sight, not enought oxygen machine to sustain breathing while intubated. They rather go back to their homeland, and let the local nurses cope and hope, why dye in foreign land, alone and all for nothing.Last in join first to go,rather have grounded more secured jobs on ground like it and property agent without the risks. With the no 1 at all cost being a slave on board for 18 hours, and lacking seniority, cheap LC airlines abound, and better mental health.Aircrew have a not here, yet there, relationship with their love one including children.Observed it is more fitting for gayee and lassie,no baggage of family and children and promo faster .

The salary offered for 3 months training is relatively low for year 2023. After confirmation for about 3500 dollars is still not much due to high cost of living in Singapore and mental wellbeing is stake too

because people are starting to realised cabin crew is not what it used to be, and regardless if they opened up to more nationalities/gender, the company must face the truth that cabin crew is not a glamorous job at the end of the day, and office people think they are high end waiter(s) anyway

Those with qualities that SQ is looking for will go for
employment that offers a higher income ( all included ).

The benefit of 'seeing the world' is no longer an exclusive benefit.
Neither is staying in '5 star' hotels.

If you are able to earn higher income or the same, working as a flight attendant
with all its 'sufferings' is not as attractive these days. With 5 working days, along
with Work-from -Home schedules, personal time is here to stay. Flying is not an easy option.
There are circadian issues, standby disruptions, uncertainties in schedules and annual leave bookings. Free tickets are not so attractive with low cost carriers and flying long distances does not cost a lot even on full service airlines. Besides, you dont get treated like 3rd class passengers.

The job is still attractive to some people though. But the pool has shrunk.
New era not so attracted to glam... and flying ( travelling ) has lost its glam anyway.

The glamour of being a SQ flight attendant does not seem so alluring these days.
Time has changed.
Expectation has changed.
Aspiration has changed.

I ask my daughter (still schooling) : "Do you want to be a SQ flight attendant?"
Her answer: "NO , I want to be a pilot."
