‘I would want her to not have any regrets’: Taiwanese man looking for S’porean ex-SIA stewardess mum
To a request by the son for assistance, SQ had turned him down citing the Personal Data Protection Act and its policy of not disclosing employee's details. Granted that SQ had the absolute right to do so, but it should at least show some compassion as this is not someone going on a "fishing expdition". In my humble opinion, SQ could have shown kindness to help in the following way:-
1. Write to the former LSS at her last known address highlighting that her son is looking for her, and get her consent to release the necessary information or pass her the contact number of her son. 2. Write to her character referees to see if they know of her whereabouts.
Granted that she, or her referees, might not be staying there or not contactable, who knows? We won't know without trying. In the slim likelihood that it works out, SQ would have stood our favourably as a good, kind and caring employer.
There are more ways, but I won't go in into details as it would be a multi-level attempt. I am sure we've all heard of this saying, "If there's a will, there's a way".
I think she gave him up because she was not ready to be a mother at such a young age.Plus the nature of her work did not help either.
She should still make the effort to reach out to him......not unless she already has a family of her own but did not tell them about the baby she gave up.
Worst case scenario is that she is not alive anymore or is in some nursing home suffering from dementia.

My humble view
KayPoh aka BusyBody
I support KayPoh. SIA should be more compassionate!
what sort of mother is she just left her baby and fled Taiwan??
Any mother would do the same, when the family treated badly. We must not pass judgement, but time for reconcilation can take place, over time.
This is exactly the sort of wife and mother someone gets from a stewardess! I can give you many examples of how a stewardess mum/wife behaves.
