Cabin crew control staff Zainal

Zainal passed away I was told (hope I am misinformed). He was a wonderful and help staff as far as I know. Despite hectic work schedule (control staff has to handle thousands of crew), Zainal was cheerful and was not rude like a few of his colleagues.

RIP my dear friend!

The "coronavirus party" is over!

According to an Omicron expert Dr John Campbell, most will have the natural immunity (listen around 17:45 seconds)against Covid soon. The pandemic will become endemic by Spring (April/May 2022?) and life will go on as normal.
The UK government has allowed vaccinated visitors from other countries to enter UK without testing or quarantined from Feb this year (next month). Also wearing of face masks and social distancing will not be compulsory.
Hopefully, SG will follow UK and allow visitors into the country. Businesses and travels will resume once again. SIA will start being profitable again.
Looking forward to the weakening if not the demise of the coronavirus!

Farewell my dear friend and colleague MS Low

MS as he is fondly known was a colleague of mine in the airlines. This gentleman was a soft spoken and nice person. He suffered greatly due to Parkinson's disease and and at a later stage had dementia. My condolences to his beloved wife and loved ones. May he rest in peace.

MS Low RIP

Former check steward MS Low passed away hours ago in Perth. MS   as he is fondly known was a truly gentleman. He was a great guy to   us  his ex colleagues and to all. We will miss him dearly. May his soul rest in peace.

Senior cabin crew found guilty of molestation

According the molest case, I wonder what sort of punishment will the court be handing out in March for the accused? Jail time or a fine or both? In fact, this is unprecedented as it is the first case to appear before the judge involving the cabin crew. Let's wait and see.

Stewardesses accused male colleague of molest in 2019

SINGAPORE- A stewardess was attending to a passenger when her senior - the highest-ranking cabin crew member on board the flight - smacked her on the right buttock.

They are dying in Perth

I have just received some bad news coming out of Perth. Two of our ex colleagues (one a retired ifs and the other an ex check steward) who now live in Perth are dying. The ex ifs has an incurable cancer and the other from complications due to Parkinson. Both are in their 70s. I feel sad for their loved ones. Both are nice people. I hope those who come here and read this blog would spare a thought and not scribble some horrible comment.

Qualities SIA would be looking for in its future crew

The next time SIA starts hiring cabin crew, I wonder what would be the qualities it   will be looking for in its candidates. The reasons I am saying this is because the   crew need not be smiling as they will be wearing the face masks during flight. This   may be a permanent thing even in the absence of Covid. Therefore, smiling and having beautiful teeth may not be a must. Next, crew are not supposed to interact with passengers. Social distancing may be a norm. On board the flight, the crew would serve the passengers with minimal contact. Also, crew presence in the cabin during flight may not be a requirement. Can you think of anything else which may be the new normal for the crew when the Covid virus go away?

The Covid-19 will disappear by April or May this year

It looks like the Omicron variant is displacing the notorious Delta variant according to an expert Dr John Campbell (You may watch him on YouTube) Omicron may be more infectious than Delta but it does not make one very sick. Hospitalization and death rates are falling in most part of the world especially in South Africa where Omicron originated. It is predicted that by early spring ( April/May 2022) the world may be free of the Covid-19 virus. Life will be back to normal. This is definitely fantastic news for the world.

In my opinion, SIA may be short of cabin crew and pilots. Cabin crew may resume recruitment and it is wonderful news for the wannabes who had waited 2 years to fulfill their dream. Please be patient you cabin crew wannabes. You have waited 2 years and another few months of waiting will not be painful. Good luck!

Fear not, Omicron is here to save the world

Omicron is spreading much faster than its predecessors but is less severe and infected people may not require hospitalization. However, many countries are suffering from the Singapore type of kiasu syndrome (ks). They closed their borders to foreigners even though these people are vaccinated and already had the booster shots. If it goes on like this, then the economies will be battered so bad to the extent where they may go bankrupt. Stop adopting the ks, open the borders and let tourists into the countries and you will prosper like never before. But first, treat the virus, in this case Omicron as a flu. Do not fear and have the guts to be the first to liberate your country from this "plan-demic"!
