SIA is still recruiting cabin crew from Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand etc. Must be desperate, I supposed due to crew shortage. It was a lesson learned not to let go too many crew when there is a downturn like Sars and covid. Well it's better not to criticize or else I may get myself into trouble. I will leave the task to the cc management and see how they will deal with any downturn or epidemics.

All crew are dispensible. No lessons to be learnt from Sars or wuhan. They only follow the process. No load, cut pay, axe crew. Load pick up, rehire again. No crew? Stop all annual leave, give ntuc vouchers. Proven after Sars and wuhan that its a good move. Management were not reduced to their knees. They been a pat on own shoulders for a job well done during Sars and wuhan.
If sinkie dont wanna join, its fine. Better for them, hire overseas at lower rate. They will play the stats game and tell govt no sinkies join ma, so hire overseas lor. Anyway we are international airline not just Sinkypore Airline.
The conditions of employment seems to be predatory and exploitive.CC need to wise up,the unionist need to wise up to protect and give the best deals, not under onerous and inhuman conditions.Doubt other airlines use such practices, causing harm to body in the long term including diabetic and many other.Guess if the unionist seems to get their members quicker promo, then nothing to say after each election still voting them in.
As long as they keep hiring Malaysians,SIA will be fine.Malaysian SIA crew are the best.
SQ spends millions & millions on marketing its product.
This aspect alone drives sales
It also presents the picture of premium quality
Not just the product which is the seat, the route but the inflight service.
All those soft focus advertisements is deliberate.
They advertise heavily overseas, sponsor lots of TV shows, and anything that allows
exposure. From local TV channels to National Geographic.
These marketing activities add to entice people to sign up as employees.
SPH or other news media also print stories ( positive ones of course) about SQ.
Only after being an employee for some years, will there be some enlightenment.
It is just another employer, nothing exceptional.
Until space travel becomes a normal means of transport, air travel will remain
alluring, and people want to be part of it. There is no shortage of young, eager people
wanting to be crew.
But some of them was really sad when was told to leave due to the pandemics. But it turn out very positive for some ex cabin crews. They became entrepreneurs and now flying in business class to be served! Bravo!
That's because Malaysians are notoriously resilient and street smart.
AXXXXX Yong was one of the successful entrepreneur now. I am so happy for him!
Due to the many incidents, bullying, the LS and the 8 still unresolve,no one owning up,still got wannabe.Frankly you dont missed much ,try scoot or other LC air.The left behind person like kaypoh manage to psyched out his losses, normally unfavarable incidents unrecorded and not simple, therefore like frozen, let it go. Serve your fellow man,the poor then say you wanna serve, otherwise this job is not for you.
There is no 'justice' in a capitalistic world'
Business success overides 'justice' and sometimes ethics & morals too.
The entire board of directors can be removed.
Same as the entire cabin crew.
The difference is how much will compensation be?
Of course being a director, SVP etc, there will be
higher compensation and better arrangements.
Whoever holds the largest number of shares has the final decision.
There are some SVPs who are still around despite being over 63yrs old.
The reasons to retain them is well camouflaged by renewal of contracts.
Who decides who has to go and who stays.. ??
Hi BT
Are CC allowed to use handphone when serving the passengers?
No 👎
Why is that so?
How to retain CC if SQ dont make CC lives better.
