How to publish these type of comments?

1) You got into a strange bedfellow !Goingnon a priviledge travel and partaking a FC items.Reflect on that, totally irresponsible.Brushing off as dropping like stone, really shows entitled mind.

2) Once in CC,forever lopsided technocrat ,eye power only.Never lift a finger or trays, ultimately health will be gone.CC who works ,healthier.A blog is not a tri-log,it's gone to the dog.

3) Keep on deleting comments.164 have subsidies and deep pocket.Since this blog behaves like one ask for subsidies, monetary wise .Same same,no different.Or it alienate those who detest and detect right wing agenda like Trump and Putin, they are a league and out of this world. How to drive view to subscribe. to your u-tube when views do not coincide ?Good luck, you need tons of it !

4) You are forgetting about inhouse terrors aka Sexcy,Queenie from compliance and complain. How many junior crews were traumatised by their at all cost,no 1 or bust ,no eq and merciless seniors.Only death will set CC free, witness the 8th case,VY etc and many other due to ineptitude of manager.Payback time is when Sars,Covid, all employee at risk. The hands of God will mope up the rest,to bring them for redemption.

BT: Above are just a few examples of comments I have received. They are nonsensical, disrespectful and sometime incoherent. These people get upset when I don't publish their comments.

Sunny's contribution

SUNNY GALE said...

If u were to do a "forensic" study of the commentators when anonymous postings were allowed, u will recognize that there are only 3 anonymous posters who r regulars on the blog.
One is incoherent in his postings and don't seems capable of writing logically all the time.
Another anonymous poster is very against anyone joining the CC.
Finally the 3rd anonymous is into presenting the cons of being a CC.
The situation here is that they will never change their positions in their ideas of the CC job because unfortunately they are not blessed with emotional intelligence and therefore do not have the capability & capacity to understand and accept any other thoughts and reasonings coming from others except themselves, more like those with egocentric and narcissistic personalities.
On the flip side though, their presence with their "cons" views of being CC does create an environment for others to rebuke them in the comments section, thus contributing to an increase in the number of comments, commentators and alternate views.
So allowing comments anonymously may still not be a bad idea if u still reserved the right to remove those that are extreme and disrespectful in their comments.
Thank you

BT: I fully agree with Sunny. The incoherent poster's longwinded comments will not be  published. I will allow to some degree publish the "cons" views if they are respectful and realistic.

SQ recruitment team in slow mode

A few wannabes had complained to me they were sent for medical checks after getting through their interviews successfully but have not received word from SIA. One told me it has been half a year since the day of the interview and had not been told whether she is going to be hired or not. Looks like there are snails working in the recruitment team. Come on guys you are keeping these wannabes in suspense. Be a little more considerate and don't keep people waiting.

The highlighted sentence in red..was it necessary?

SQ tickets are too expensive than pre-Covid.

Recently, news has it that aircraft are in shortage all over the world and unable to meet the increasing travel demand with decreased supply.

Dont waste time being CC. The pay has been the same for
past 20 years. No wonder turnover is high.

So far I do not regret allowing anonymous comments

I am heartened to note the comments are legit and informative since opening up to anonymous comments. Off course the most transparent posters are Sunny and KayPoh and I would like to thank them. These 2 aren't afraid and use their Gmail to post. The rest of the posters are to put it mildly "shy" to let us know their email address.
Alright then go and post comments that are informative and useful to all. In this way, I don't have to restrict posters to using email addresses.

Due to numerous requests I've decided to allow anonymous comment.  However, publishing of comments will still be at my discretion.

Like China, time to open up for anonymous comment?

Hi Boh Tong

Didn't you say you support freedom of speech earlier in blog as long backed by evidence?

There are statements made by commenters about the cons of being CC yet they were published because its a undeniable fact which you, BT couldn't discount.

Hope youre more open minded and allow freedom to take place in this blog then to restrict it just like PAP.

Let me be the Devil's advocate and comment on 2 issues posted by BT, namely:-

1. Freedom of speech
2. BT, being an ex-RI boy, should see better days.

On the first issue (Freedom of speech), I would say that, and as far as I know, there is no absolute freedom of speech. There is bound to be some censorship, either by the person disclosing any issue and inviting comments OR by authorities. And there are various reasons, rightly or wrongly. In the current situation, a poster is lamenting that BT does a bit of censorship following BT's comment that "To publish comment or not is the sole discretion of the blogger" Both points have their own merits, depending on how you look at it. Moving forward, perhaps one way out of this is for BT to place such a reservation at a visibile spot in his blog so that any poster is aware of it and, if he or she disagree, can take the comments elsewhere. In short, nip the problem at bud.

On the second issue about BT being in a better place because he was an RI boy, we have to look at it from the following situations:-

1. I had earlier posted my comment that it does not mean that all RI boys would be in top management poisitions. There are also many CEOs and top management staff who were from neighbourhood schools and did not graduate from any prestiguous university.
2. Many former RI students, even in top management positions, had to report to non-RI student who is the CEO. At my workplace, a colleague from RI had a boss who was from Anderson JC.

The 2 reasons above clearly shows that, being in RI, is not an automatic route to the top and the reasons varies - for example, there are some who might take up a position out of interest, some who had no opportunity, some who does want to take on a stressful job, etc.etc and the list goes on.

I won't go into the reasons why BT chose to be a cabin crew and not seek a management position, as I am sure someone will still stick to his opinated stand. He chose that route and who are we to say he did right or wrong?

I am also sure not all will agree with me. But remember - freedom of speech.

Almost a YouTuber?

I have been at it for the last 12 months videoing food that I ate, restaurants, traffic flow in Japan etc in order to qualify as a YouTuber just to earn that extra $$. But wait the monetization hasn't come yet. First, I have to get 1,000 subscribers for my YouTube channel ( https://www.youtube.com/@singaporeanlivinginjapan4641) and second 4,000 watch hours in the last 12 months to qualify for the job. As you can see from the image above I am just 46 subscribers shy of the 1,000. As for the watch time I have to work even harder to score another 2,500+ hours. Never mind about the tough work because I am enjoying what I am doing right now. So wish me luck.

Tips on how to work with younger senior female crew

How to work with female senior crew who're younger than you? Simple, it is not difficult generally speaking. The following may help those especially stewards working under senior female cabin crew:

  • Pay compliments to these senior female crew you are working under, example say something nice about their looks or make-up etc. However, pay compliments with sincerity and life will be bearable working under them
  • Help them with tasks that they find hard to handle, example lifting of heavy stuffs like luggage, boxes etc
  • Offer them drinks and food before you have yours
  • Talk less, let them do all the talking even during night stops. They love to be listened to
  • Avoid gossiping about other crew
  • Don't be defensive when they correct you
You may participate or contribute some ideas by writing them in the comment section below. Thank you.

A tribute to "Papa Chiang"

The late Lawrence Chiang was a soft spoken and kind hearted man. It was an honor to have him as a colleague. In all the years I've worked with him, I have never seen or heard him losing his cool. To his trainees, he was affectionately known as Papa Chiang because of his fatherly figure.
Many years ago, a passenger abused him on our flight. Lawrence was as timid as a mouse even though he was bullied by that nasty passenger he did not retaliate. I was so upset with the passenger and told him to take me on when we arrived at our destination. That coward backed off. In fact I had forgotten about the incident until much later when Lawrence told me what had happened. We had a good laugh.
There was a colleague who used to take advantage of Lawrence. This guy used to be broke due to his habitual gambling. Whenever he needed money to gamble or settle his debts, he would asked Lawrence. They would go to the ATM at STC and Lawrence would withdraw money for him. Such was the generosity of Lawrence.
We will miss him and may he RIP!

RIP Lawrence Chiang

Lawrence was my ex-colleague. We are about the same age. He was a kind man who used to help another colleague financially when that guy was broke. RIP Lawrence. My condolences to his loved ones.
