Readers comparing treatment of dog to cabin crew

Anonymous said...

Just like some PPS abused the poor tired crew.

Agreed with the above comment.Spitting, slapping, punching, slamming the cc with their PPS cards are common occurrences. We are being treated worst than that poodle because no one protested against the ill treatment.

Ask the stupid man to stand on his toes on one leg and punish him if can't.
To the cabin crew who have been bullied by PPS : just one ear in and one ear out, then come to boh tong's web site and vent your frustration. At the end of the day, you still get your pay, unlike this poor poodle.

Will the current recruitment be successful?

According to Straits Times 2,379 cabin crew left SIA between March 2020 and 2021. Now with more VTL opening up, SIA requires more crew. ST does not know how many crew does SIA requires. However, my guess is between 700 and 800 crew. The question now is how many would want to join SIA? Not many I guess as the conditions are not as favorable as prior to Covid days.

To begin with, I don't think the crew will have "long" nightstops overseas. They may slipped into a station after a long grueling flight and allowed the minimum hours of stay as required by law. Another reason may be due to the restriction of movement during their nightstops. They may not be allowed to leave the hotel rooms due to the on going pandemic. I think it will be good if the airline can clarify the above 2 points.

The above is my personal opinion and I may be wrong (I hope I am wrong).

A reader left this comment..what do you think?

"who in their right mind will join SIA as a cabin crew now? High risk, more demanding and rude passengers, lower overall pay, limited to no progression.

then again if one has no desired skill in the market they can join because cabin crew required least amount of brain work. All the much boasted "soft skills" are useless when it come to career switch, they are good to have but definitely need a strongly based hard skill(s).

join at your own risk."

A tribute to the nice staff

Zainal from control center has sadly passed away. He was a wonderful person to have around. I wonder what has happened to Jimmy Keong another nice and helpful worker in control center. Rumour has it that Jimmy is staying at a nursing home. Ibrahim another good colleague has also passed away a few years ago. Anyone knows where Velo is? He is another cheerful and helpful staff.

SIA one of the best, according to Fortune

Why not? SIA has consistently been one of the world's and most   admired company...Read what Fortune has to say here

Cabin crew control staff Zainal

Zainal passed away I was told (hope I am misinformed). He was a wonderful and help staff as far as I know. Despite hectic work schedule (control staff has to handle thousands of crew), Zainal was cheerful and was not rude like a few of his colleagues.

RIP my dear friend!

The "coronavirus party" is over!

According to an Omicron expert Dr John Campbell, most will have the natural immunity (listen around 17:45 seconds)against Covid soon. The pandemic will become endemic by Spring (April/May 2022?) and life will go on as normal.
The UK government has allowed vaccinated visitors from other countries to enter UK without testing or quarantined from Feb this year (next month). Also wearing of face masks and social distancing will not be compulsory.
Hopefully, SG will follow UK and allow visitors into the country. Businesses and travels will resume once again. SIA will start being profitable again.
Looking forward to the weakening if not the demise of the coronavirus!

Farewell my dear friend and colleague MS Low

MS as he is fondly known was a colleague of mine in the airlines. This gentleman was a soft spoken and nice person. He suffered greatly due to Parkinson's disease and and at a later stage had dementia. My condolences to his beloved wife and loved ones. May he rest in peace.
