This is a Singapore Airline (SIA) blog . The stories are written by an ex cabin crew. The stories are about the crew of SIA, especially concerning cabin crew and pilots.
In the 70s and 80s he had many followers. They followed him because he helped them made money in horse racing and pai kow. But since the 90s his luck changed for the worst and became a bankrupt. His friends and followers deserted him.
I remembered him telling me the amount of money he had. He used to drive expensive cars like the Alfa Spider (a big deal back in the 70s) and Porsche.
Cut the story short, he died a lonely man and a pauper. No one not even his relatives want to claim his body. Sad but this is reality! RIP Frank!
The late CY's body was found in a rented unit @Woodlands. The police is trying to contact his relatives/friends to claim his body for burial. They are trying to get in touch with those on his mobile phone contact list. If your name is on his contact list don't be alarmed if the police reaches out to you.

I started this blog in 2006 and it has outlived its purpose. These days I don't have much info on what is going on in the airline as many of my contacts had retired from flying. After 18 years of blogging I feel sad to terminate this blog. However, it won't be so soon but perhaps by the middle of 2025 when I am supposed to renew payment for its url.
The overall picture is quite bad as the crime rate is rising in Japan. Big cities like Tokyo, Osaka etc are seeing more crime than where I am residing i.e. Fukuoka.
At my place which is the city of Kitakyushu, FUK, the crime rate has gone up to 500+ per 100,000 residents. This is an increase of 20+%. House breaking and robbery is what I am talking about. Near my home, people are installing security cameras and devices to deter crime.
A konbini near my place was robbed at knife point and an office safe was carted away in broad daylight!
The main reason for higher theft is due to high cost of living and many are without job. An example is a 5 kg back of rice we used to buy was about S$15 and now 5 months later the same cost S$30 which is a 100% increase. A cabbage used to sell for $1 is now $5. There was long queues if there is cheap offer for items in the supermarkets..example: a supermarket near my house was offering a cabbage for $1 and the queue was exceptionally long. Not only that there were arguments and people almost came to blows because of irritation due to the long wait. This is the first time we encounter such an incident. My mother-in-law told us that the Japanese would fight over food only during war time!
I had some bad comments following my video on Capt Lobster. I deleted most of them. I think the commenters were cockpit crew. They claimed I was biased to back the IFS who hid the lobster from the capt! They told me I should not backed a liar...haha...
Mr Pritam Singh, Singapore opposition leader will be in court today to face 2 charges of lying to parliament. The trial will spread over a 2 week period. If convicted and fine 7k and more or a year or more in jail, Pritam will be disqualified as an MP and cannot contest in the next GE.
Dr Lee Wei Ling the daughter of the late SG PM Lee Kuan Yew passed away yesterday aged 69. RIP Dr Lee.
Many years ago I had Dr Lee on my flight. During transit in HK she went for a jog escorted by a few bodyguards.
Dr. Lee was an unassuming passenger and it was an honour to have served her.
S. Iswaran was sentenced to 12 month jail starting 7 Oct 2024. My take is that he will be released after 8 months because the Conditional Remission Order may applied to his case. He is lucky not to share his cell with other prisoners due to his ex position. However, the toilet in his cell is a squatting type and he is also given 2 blankets and a mat to sleep on. No bed will be provided.
You are not totally correct. Actually most crew dont like to gather for a meal. We are compelled and obliged to go. Plus why die die must eat at Earls court and bayswater etc when there are thousands of outlets availavble.its a kind of mental sickness. When i mention breakfast at earls court, most crew give me a kind of wierd look. They have never been there before or hear before..
My reply:
Maybe you are talking about the recent crew. I am talking about my time perhaps 30 to 40 years ago when we were staying at the Gloucester Hotel. Those days the crew did not have social media platform like TikTok, FB etc. In fact we did not even have mobile phone. So we liked to meet for meals and drinks. Of course, even during those time we had crew who did not like to socialise with their colleagues but far and few.
Yes you are right to say there are many places to go to. In the blog I was trying to bring back the fond memories of the days gone by whereby we usually meet for meals and drinks and chit chat.
SIA is still recruiting cabin crew from SG and MY. The website is at https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/us/careers/cabin-crew-career/
I think the airline is still short of local cabin crew. It is currently not employing crew from other countries. However, I don't understand why only SG and MY only?
Poor Lambert Yeo. He worked so hard for the company and when asked for early retirement SIA refused to give him. SIA had given early retirement to crew who had been lazy and mischievous but not Lambert. SIA even turned down his request for FOC tickets. Now Lambert is gone...*sobs*
Dear Sir,
I just came across a very heartwarming TikTok post featuring a Singapore Airlines crew member named Aiden, who helped Paige Parker (Jim Rogers' wife) remove stains from her jeans.
The video was posted by Paige Parker herself (Paige Parker) yesterday. As a Singaporean, I have always enjoyed watching her TikTok videos. Besides showcasing her luxurious lifestyle, she recently posted something that warmed my heart just before National Day. It was inspiring to see how Singapore Airlines' crew go the extra mile to help their passengers, demonstrating a strong Singaporean spirit in their service.
This is truly something we are very proud of, as SQ is our national carrier, and people like Aiden truly fly the Singapore Airlines flag above and beyond.
In addition, Cheryl Teh, a follower of Paige Parker, commented that she remembered Aiden delivering excellent service and wrote him a compliment letter after a flight to India.
This man is truly amazing and deserves recognition.
Yours Sincerely,
Reader of bohtong2ndlife.blogspot.com
Last weekend we drove to Hiroshima for a short weekend trip. Stayed at the Grand Prince Hiroshima which was quite good and cheap. We booked through Trip.com which gave the cheapest rate. It was a twin room rather big for S$70 a night. Originally we wanted to book through other sites whose rates were almost double.
The last time I nightstopped in Hiroshima was 30+ years ago but I can't remember which hotel did SIA put its crew in. Perhaps it was Regal Royal. Anyone knows??
The drive took us almost 4 hours as we had a few stops in between to have drinks food etc. The distance from home to Hiroshima was about 300km.
It was a difficult time during the 1960s when the company was controlled and run by the "Whites". Ceo is paid S$8.1 million for year 2023/2024 which is an increase of 20% over the previous year. That is a lot of money even after tax. No wonder the EVPs were fighting over the post. But eventually the relatively young Goh Choon Phong got the top job in 2011!
There was a stewardess whose father engaged a lawyer to fight her case when they caught her for shoplifting in Tokyo. The next thing we knew was that she was found guilty and fined! She is now out of job....silly isn't it? Should have negotiated with the store owner and paid them than fight it out in court.
I was told that if you are caught or mistakenly caught shoplifting in Japan don't argue or try to engage a lawyer to fight for you. Simply apologize and pay up for the amount of goods plus a penalty of about 10 times (negotiable)of the value of the stolen goods to the shop and you should get away with it.
US$25k for seriously injured paxs, US$10k for less serious and S$1k for all paxs not injured. I believe not all will accept the compensation and will sue SIA for more.
I remember the children of a couple who died in the SQ006 crash refused the compensation and sued SIA . They were awarded US$15 million. Will the deceased pax (only one who died) family take SIA to court?

Yesterday Qatar Airways flight QR 017 was hit by a severe turbulence when flying between Doha and Dublin. Six paxs and six cabin crew were injured.
Air turbulence is on the increase due to climate change so I was told. Flying as a crew is no longer fun as one may get seriously hurt due to the ever increasing turbulence. What are your thoughts on this?

One person was dead and several others injured after a Singapore Airlines flight encountered "severe" turbulence, the airline said in a social media post.
The Boeing 777-300ER departed London's Heathrow Airport on Monday with 221 passengers and 18 crew members on board, according the airline.

Emirates is giving its staff a 20 weeks bonus (5 months) for year 2024 after a record breaking profit. Although EK bonus is 5 months the staff salary is much higher compared to SIA. In all, the staff and crew will be getting more due to their higher salary and tax free policy.
More here
SIA is so very generous to the staff by giving the highest bonus ever of 7.9 months and yet the staff complained a lot about SIA. Take for example some were not happy because SIA treat its staff to kueh kueh for May Day. The staff gave SIA such lousy ratings as Best Employer, dragging it down to 112 position.
Are the staff ungrateful??
Wa lau SIA is giving staff almost 8 months of bonus after record profit for 2024 of S$2.7 billions. The staff deserves every cent of the bonus.
Mr Lawrence Wong will be our new prime minister from tomorrow onwards. He will take over from PM Lee who will be a senior minister.
I wonder what is Lawrence like and his policy for Singapore. Will he be able to tackle the high and rising cost of living in SG ? However, there is little change I guess. Well we will just watch how his performance will be in the coming months and years.
The above was sent to me by the crew. Some have criticized SIA for offering the above cheap snacks to the staff in celebrating May Day.
Another thing was SIA being voted 112 position by its staff as Best Employer!
I often wonder what is the meaning of life especially now that friends like Lambert, Smokin Joe, Haridas,Francis S and many more who had passed away recently.
The game is going to be over and the sun is setting. Don't be cynical my friends because your day will come. Death is certain and you can't run away from it!
Go and get baptized according to ACTS: 2:38 and you will be eternally saved!
Lambert has gone home to be with the Lord Jesus! RIP my dear friend!

Sad but it is true that Lambert is now either in the hospice or nursing home waiting for his final hour :(
Who could have imagine that Lambert could be in this situation? He was a healthy looking guy with lots of future in South Africa. He has many friends and a lovely family. He brought Co & Fish to Singapore and delighted many foodies.
I am a close family friend of his and am feeling sad for him and his family. My prayer is Lambert do not suffer anymore pain and if God willing transport him to another world known as HEAVEN!
This was one nice IFM TH Goh who passed on a few years ago. The above image showed him in an old age home a few years ago. I like TH and I never missed the X'mas cards which he would send me every year without failed till he left SIA.
RIP my friend and may God be merciful to your soul!

One of my TikTok followers asked me to talk about fights in the aircraft and I would oblige by telling this story that happened when I was on the flight.
During flight a fight broke out between a smaller and a big size paxs. I t happened because of some seating issues. The flight was full and this may have caused discomfort to some paxs. When told, I hurriedly went to the economy class and tried to stop the fight. It was quite violent especially after a few drinks. The smaller pax was beaten up by the bigger pax but he fought back. My crew and I tried to stop them from getting hurt.
We managed to seperate them and reluctantly I upgraded the smaller fellow to the business class. He was quite a guy. He insisted I upgraded his female partner too otherwise he would want to stay put. In the end to avoid another fight I upgraded the two of them. After that things were quiet. The case was handed to the security when we arrived at our destination. Fortunately, none of the two was badly hurt.
A Singapore Airlines (SIA) air steward, who says he was injured when a bag fell from the overhead compartment, is suing the airline for around $500,000.
But SIA has countered that 42-year-old K. Jotheeswaran Kaniyasan is lying and that the incident never happened. Instead, air stewardess Hezrin Hilmi, who Mr Jotheeswaran said saw the 2009 incident, has filed an affidavit stating that she did not.

We cannot rule out that the ex steward who is suing SIA for negligent can't win the case. The reason I say this is because the children of a couple who was killed on SQ006 in 2000 sued SIA and won the case. The sum awarded was US$15 million. So let's see whether the ex steward can win.
The Tik Tok video which I uploaded (below) regarding the "Bakery" case happened many years ago and I don't think many of you knew about it. Maybe some have not been born yet and if you were around, you may have been too young then...right?

PETALING JAYA: A Malaysian former air steward with Singapore Airlines is suing the carrier for S$1.78 million (about RM6.3 million) for injuries to his spine after he allegedly slipped on a grease patch on board a plane in 2019.
Durairaj Santiran, 35, alleged that his former employer was negligent for allowing the workplace to be unsafe, The Straits Times reported.
