Many years ago I privately told my then svp about employing foreign crew from Asia but he arrogantly brushed me aside and told me not in a million years. He said he did not want SIA to be like CX but now who is right?
This is a Singapore Airline (SIA) blog . The stories are written by an ex cabin crew. The stories are about the crew of SIA, especially concerning cabin crew and pilots.

Breakfast on SQ Japan flight
The topmost image is the yakisoba breakfast and the lower is chicken patty and scrambled eggs. Both dishes were delicious although the size of the trays are smaller. I still think the food served on SIA flights are much tastier than in the past years.

Helpfulness extends beyond paxs' services
SIA is not only customer service oriented but internally it is also extremely helpful towards its own retired staff like myself and others. Take for example when I needed assistance to get my tickets from the staff travel dept and travel advice, the staff are always there to help. Besides, they are also prompt in attending to us. Thank you very much to the staff in the travel dept!

Isn't this makes sense?
By a reader:
"All food in SQ are precooked, and microwaveable no real kitchen on board.Want good atas food go fresh food outlet on ground.Air pressurisation ,ambience on board not for fine dinning style ,the tastebud, stomach reacts negatively, all food taste bad no matter what is being served.Stop whining and get real,or fly your own or slow boat.Immediately after landing, when depressuries, the stomach change to hunger mode. You cant't afford it,your own feels,on your budget"

My comments on SIA food
I don't want to sound as though I am pro-SIA but the reality is the food on board has reduced in quantity. However, I recently flew on a Japan flight and found that although the quantity has been reduced but the quality has not been compromised. As a matter of fact, the food these days taste better than in the past. I don't want to say more lest I will be accused of being biased. Instead, I would like to hear from our readers.

Is SIA food that bad?
- A social media user recently posted a photo of a Singapore Airlines meal and questioned if standards of the national carrier were dropping
- The passenger claimed that a packet of plain crackers was given in place of dessert and fresh fruits, for instance
- Other online users echoed similar sentiments, with some saying that they felt portion sizes were smaller and the quality of meals have worsened
- The airline said that regular audits are made with catering partners to ensure quality of meals served in-flight
- It added that it will take into account customers' feedback

Some of the remarks about me
The naysayers and those with adverse comments are:
1. Internet Trolls
2. Condemned ex-screw (could not get promoted, so very sore about it - l can see only same old 2 candidates in BT blog, with their signature comments.
3. Lastly, 1 with a grievance to grind and using BT blog to do 👌😘😎
Hi Boh Tong
Reason being you had this poll because youre insecure and anxious about what people like me says about you for past sleepless nights of yours.
If youre so confident about your CC credentials like the 10 people who voted 'no shame' why you didnt get a post-CC job?
Where is the so called world class training applied post-CC to find job? 😰
BT. Why do you need to broadcast you were ex RI. I was an ex Rafflesian and a cabin crew and I don’t advertise.😓
It seems you are not talented, motivated etc compare to BT.I was ex TK School current premier to be.So must advertise ?Your choice, your talent.Showcase it or shut up ! 💪👍😃

The world needs more ......
Jane was a cabin crew wannabe. She was trying hard to be a stewardess with SIA. One day she contacted me and bought an e-guide from me. Out of curiosity, I asked Jane why did she buy the guide (of course I know the reason). Her reply surprised me. She said she bought the guide because she pitied me as I am an old man who is struggling to make a living by helping people get into SIA.
At this point, I instead took pity on her. I appreciated what she did and so I gave her free coaching over Zoom on how to pass the cabin crew interview for free (UP is $200). We need more of people like Jane. She should make an excellent stewardess.

Types of people who visit this blog
Over the years I've noticed that there are 3 types of people who visit this blog. The first is to read the stories I publish and share their views but most don't, second is the cabin crew wannabes who are looking for tips on how to pass the cc interview and finally the third who are here to critize whatever I post.
Not to worry I appreciate and welcome all catergories of visitors. Keep reading and commenting. Thank you very much!

Isn't being a cabin crew better?

He sacrificed his life for the company but.....
I don't want to discredit the company I used to work for. It was and still is a good company. Sometimes, it's the senior people who are to blame for some of the policy.
Lam (not his real name) was working for umpteen years for SIA as an executive. When he decided to quit, SIA's management refused to give him discounted tickets on SIA's flights let alone gratuity like cash etc.
He confided in me that he had given his entire working life to airline at the expense of his family. He used to work overtime and weekends voluntarily without any compensation. He became the most unpopular execuitve as he had "spoiled the market" so to speak. Lam regretted for being dedicated and loyal to SIA.
I hope there are'nt many Lams anymore but if there are I think the company should view them objectively and positively. Such people should be given some recognition!

It's nothing new in cabin crew division
It's nothing new in Paul's case (post below). I was complimented by a prominent banker and straightaway I was given a merit increment of a month's salary. Before the compliment, I was not awarded any merit increment nor rewarded for the hard work I put in. As a matter of fact, my director (aka svp)disliked me as I did not toe his line.

It isn't who you know but.....
I want to relate a story about "It isn't who you know..". This happened during the time I was still with SIA. One chief steward by the name of Paul Foo was rejected at a inflight manager promtion interview. Paul was a dedicated crew and amicable chap. The then director of cabin crew disliked Paul and didn't approve of Paul becoming an inflight manager. Paul approached me and asked for help. I could not do much to help Paul until he showed me a black and white photograph of our then prime mminister Mr Lee Kuan Yew inspecting Cambodia's guard of honor with Prince Norodom Sihanouk in Phnom Penh. The photograph was given and signed by Mr Lee Kuan Yew. This was a good opportunity I thought to myself and advised Paul to see the director of cabin crew and showed him the signed photograph.
